What? OWI never had the funds to independently develop a game, that's not how it works. OWI was a small development company, they've always gotten their funding from their publishers.

Great news! This is much more promising than previous anouncements, due to JAW being on board and making claims about something new being announced/released very soon.
A couple of thoughts. One of Abemudokon's tweets was: :
Secondly, in the VG247 interview there was this part: :

:
J.A.W. is developing the game, but Lorne and his team will still be responsible for the conceptual part of the process (or so I imagine). The art and story. |

I'd be very surprised if Lorne wasn't hands-on for any part of the creative development. He's always worked very closely with his design team. I can't envision him passing the torch to someone else.

AE definitely was setting his return up. I was convinced we hadn't seen the last of him after the line...
"Mullock's gonna be pissed. If he ever comes back we're screwed." It struck me as odd because he was clearly dealt with in AO, so the Glukkon's clearly knew something we didn't if they considered him "gone" or "missing" rather than "dead". Clearly. |

I like that he's attached to the set.
|
Well, I was being subtle about it lol. Ah, but that would be interesting if they put it in a game, wouldn't it? I would be more interested to get Sam involved. Maybe it would finally answer the question as to why Abe's lips are stitched up, since I have heard at least three explanations...

He's only saying MO sucks because the cool kids said it first. MO only sucks if you compare it to what it could have been.
|
MO is my least favorite of the console Oddworld games, but it was still a good video game and it still had that Oddworld flare that I love so much.
|
:
|
I enjoyed it very much when it first came out, probably the only launch title I enjoyed. I admit it hasn't aged well, but I go back and play it every now and again.
|
I only played it once. I was disappointed in it, but I didn't hate it.
|
In the end I'd still much rather play AO, AE, or SW. I think Munch's production design was one of it's few saving graces.
SW was the other way around. It's awesome gameplay made up for the chicken people. |
I've never hated anything in a video game more than I did controlling one of those fucking robots that shot people and electrocuted them but still took ten minutes to kill each one.

It's an unreleased news segment that was intended for MO, before they completely changed the story. The other two can be seen here. |
oh? i thought they were unreleased for near the end of AE. looks like i was wrong again - neg rep me, neg rep me!.............please dont neg rep me, +rep me! :)

I enjoyed MO on the first two playthroughs, back when I first got my Xbox/used to play it on my uncle's Xbox. I believe it was my first true experience on that generation of consoles, too, so I was naturally impressed by it. Now I can't be bothered to sit down and play it anymore. It bores me. Sad actually. |
i do get negrepped for the sake of it - i once got negrepped for asking why stranger didnt get a moon (it was in the moon thread!) and the post called me a dumb fuck! so i called him a shrivlled up cunt.

Anyone think if MO was originally made the way it supposed to it would of been a huge hit ? and maybe kept Oddworld in the game business ?
|
It might have, who knows. However I also think that OWI has always been an underdog developer. With gaming and consoles becoming a real hype around the time MO was made, I think a company that makes games about aliens and complicated puzzle gameplay and in depth stories wouldn't really have been competition to some of the huge games and developers that game out around the same time.
So even if MO did turn out the way OWI originally visioned it, it might not have become a hit after all simply because there were more interesting games on the market at the time. Hell, OWI played right into that trend with Stranger. People dig shooters, trying to produce another puzzle game would have sunk the company for sure. So yeah, I don't think it was the rushed finish of the game that made it sell bad, it was the mood of the market at that time. |
At the very least, the fans would have been much warmer to it if they had done it the way they planned.
Honestly, I'm more disappointed that we never got Sligstorm. I was so looking forward to that. |
i hope they make the xbox oddworld games work with the xbox 360 usb controller.:fuzzle:

agree 'cause it doesn't work with Abe's Oddyssey ans Abe's Exodus, I even try with Xpader but still not working :fuzmad: Anyway I can't wait for the new website and I hope we'll see Oddworld on digital market place (360 and PS3) Edit : I Find some links about Xpader it seems it could be works ! http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...8&postcount=18 http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...t-1324031.html |
Nearly the end of the month too so new website soon
|
well we are near the end of the month, and no website!
|
I heard it's going to be in 2.5D like LBP and it's going to be a genuine sequel, I knew Lorne couldn't sleep at night knowing he left us all hanging like that. ;)
|
heh, you know, the reason lots of people didn't like MO was because there had been so much promise and spoilers etc...that never happened in the end. I hope OWI are a bit more careful now, and don't promise too much in case something goes wrong, again. I prefer to be cautiously optimistic rather than dancing around on the ceiling.
|
Not me, I like everything.
