I can see the proportions are not right. Didn't really want to say anything though cause I'm not sure whether nowtun's looking for perfection or not. I still think it's really great :)

Where you guys have eyes :)? You don't see that head is too big what makes character looking like baby mudokon? :).

I agree that arms, legs and chest are looking good (maybe some proportions tweaking) but it's not perfect yet.

i personally think his head is to proportion compairing it to oddworld original untextured models of abe. see page 40 of the oddworld book for a sculpture of abe that oddworld made

thanks man, im aiming to get him as close as i can to the original but im obviously not going to get it exactly like oddworld managed but im happy wit the result so far

I don't think it's a big enough issue. As long as things are a step up from the original AO, it doesn't matter that they're not perfect. They're good, and that's what matters.

Update:

here is the new model of Abe for you all to see, he still has no eyes nor a texture but they will be made sometime next week. the first 2 images are the sub-patched model for use in cutscenes and so on and the other 2 are in game Abe

That's looking awesome man, i had a go at making a fat abe for my year 2 character modelling project at uni, wasn't anywhere near as good as that, lol.
The stuff i've seen of this is looking sweet, gonna be awesome if you continue at the quality you've been working at...

I just want this remake to be a step up from munches oddysee and demonstrate how it could have been done differently while retaining the original oddworld feel. But only time will tell if I achieve this.

Yeah its an idea I was thinking the same last night but I'm concentrating on rupture farms only at the mo so i only need mudokons and sligs....... for the time being

at this point I'm still unsure of when the demo will be ready but we're working on it. once a demo is released it shouldnt be too long before the actual game is released... if all goes to plan

i have a "to do" list, and im slowly working my way through it whenever i get the time between working and looking after my son. theres hundreds of animations for abe alone and i havnt even started modeling a slig yet (hint hint Daft.Eng :-P )

It should work on all current computers. But higher end computers will get the best graphics obviously.

Nice. Now model is looking a lot better. Hard to say something about animation when it is slowed down an when character isn't moving forward. But on first view it's looking right

the animation will be speeded up accordingly in the game engine and the reason its animated on the spot is because that is how the engine requires it to be.

Yeah, his face actually kinda reminds me of Crash Bandicoot. I don't know why, but I think the body is excellent. The face, however; I think you should make him not so happy. He's smiling and I know you can't animate the face for in-game reasons, but I think you should make him not smiling if possible. Other than that, you have some an excellent job and your wife has done an excellent job wit the texturing! I hope you go through with his whole game and don't lose interest. I hope this turns out great! :)

i put his mouth in as neutral possition as i could. but im not allowed to animate his head at allcuz were implementing interest points into the game. i think hes less smiley now than the previous model though.

and she's still working on the texture, getting it as close to the texture in the book as possible, but its hard as lightwave doesnt seem to fully support UV unwrapping unless its done externaly then re-inported back into lightwave.... which is a bitch to do.

dot worry, i wont lose interest in this project, ive been working on it for about 4 years total now, lerning lightwave as i went. i made about 5 different paramonias and 3 rupturefarms, i scrapped each one of them... the new rupture farms is still undergoing constant changes as i work on it (updating or tweakin the layout more than anything)

im using farcry 2 as inspiration for the new paramonia

Its 4 years of spare time, not continuous. Inbetween the other projects I've been working on, not got this close to a demo before tho :p

i actualy only just got back to making my oddworld project when i joined here, which was in july i think. thats when i started rupture farms again from scratch for the 4th-ish time lol

RuptureFarms is almost complete, thats including the secret areas (but for the stockyard ones for now) but every single screen in abe's oddysee with be modeled.... with some extras inbetween....

Have you got any kind of reference images? for any of the products you mentioned? I found a decent "high"-res image of meech munchies.

It'd be best if you asked/looked around on this forum, because I'd bet someone at one time or another has already remade the posters ;)
