Some of that musics make me sleep... Even with the speakers on the maximum...
:o

Leto 11-24-2007 12:17 AM

I like what I've heard of Sufjan Stevens, which is only The Avalanche. "Anything else you'd reccomend?", said Leto.

OANST 11-25-2007 08:07 AM

The Avalanche is just songs that were left off of Illinois. Definitely get that album. It's amazing.

Mac Sirloin 11-26-2007 10:43 AM

Can anyone provide a good cover of the Russian National anthem for me?

Facsimile 11-27-2007 01:16 AM

I got the Dethalbum a coulple of days ago, I'm loving it. Deluxe edition. Smiley emoticon.

Check out the slick duel guitar solo on Fansong immediately!

Facsimile 11-27-2007 03:56 PM

I just can't get into Fansong. Never could. Same with Briefcase.

In a nerd off of this magnitude everybody is a winner.

Does anyone else here listen to Sufjan Stevens? Anybody?

I bought Illinois weeks ago and have yet to listen to it.

I've been listening to Atmosphere and Fionn Regan. The latter is relatively new and particularly good. Buy his album.

Salamander 11-27-2007 10:12 PM

As of late I've been listening to Avenged Sevenfold.

Leto 11-27-2007 11:28 PM

Atmosphere! Reccomend me also because I are leech.

Grace Kelly anyone?

I'm not really a fan of theirs, but A Little Piece of Heaven from their new album is one of the best songs I've heard in a long time. It sounds like a metal Danny Elfman song. I recommend it:

The lyrics are very funny also.

Hobo 12-03-2007 11:19 AM

I am currently listening to the reformed ultra awesome funk metal group Extreme. If any of you get a chance to see them i recommend it. Funk is good. Metal is good. Super Cheesy Funk Metal is awesome

This guy needs much more recognition than he currently has. Amazing fingerstlye guitarist.

Facsimile 12-10-2007 05:43 PM

Incredible.
Very hypnotic.

Salamander 12-10-2007 09:17 PM

Very impressive.

ziggy 12-11-2007 08:28 PM

I'm really into Destroyer right now, Bejar's songwriting is amazing! I think some of you might appreciate it. So please look them up.

Leto 12-11-2007 09:34 PM

First though from Destroyer was Pig Destroyer. They have a funny name, and are decent.

My video is no longer avaliable?! Just search Thomas Leeb if you want more. http://www.myspace.com/thomasleeb

I hate people who say "I have a wide array of musical tastes, ranging from jazz [or rock] to classical.". That's actually extremely closeminded.

ziggy 12-11-2007 10:41 PM

No no I did definately not mean Pig Destroyer lol. And I know what you mean about people who have "such diverse tastes in music" because they're cool like that.

Leto 12-13-2007 08:20 PM

They're usually aged 30-40 and are school teachers.

Pretty damn good post-rock for those of you who don't know what it is.

Well considering Jazz is almost the opposite of classical (pre-20th century, which I assume you mean), it seems pretty diverse to me. That counts everything in between, doesn't it?

Don't get me wrong, I hate people who say they have a wide range of tastes and don't, but I'm curious about this one.

Leto 12-20-2007 06:35 PM

But nothing afterwards. They say they listen to styles ranging from jazz to classical, but what actually they mean is jazz and classical. At least all the ones who have said that I've known have only listened to those two styles.

WHO LIKES DRONEDOOM. I LIKE DRONEDOOM.

Salamander 12-21-2007 10:05 PM

I just downloaded a whole lot of Breaking Benjamin songs. Brilliant.

Hobo 12-22-2007 04:13 AM

Supermunch that video is fucking ace.

Wings of Fire 12-22-2007 10:12 AM

I listen to metal mostly and usually Scandinavian and German Power metal at that but I ain't averse to listening to folk, opera, blues or classical.

The two bands I'm really into at the moment are Skyclad (British folk metal) and Symphony X (American progressive/power metal)

Both are awesome.

Check out Korpiklaani which is Scandanavian folk metal, very different to Skyclad but awesome

Facsimile 12-25-2007 11:55 PM

Like Symphony X? Listen to Dream Theater.
Like both? Listen to Circus Maximus. Sure, they're rip-offs, but they're good at it.

Rupture Farms 12-26-2007 12:01 AM

Cradle of Filth, anyone?

ziggy 01-01-2008 05:54 AM

Nooooooooooooo you know what band is really good? My Bloody Valentine.

Especially those from Phobia.

you little shoegazer you! All you need is one push into postrockdom.

ziggy 01-05-2008 08:33 PM

Hmmm maybe, but it doesn't interest me much now. Explosions in the Sky are decent, I think that's post rock. Can you name off some good bands?

Leto 01-05-2008 08:40 PM

Explosions in the Sky are postrock, one of the big names in it. other big names:

Godspeed you! Black Emperor
Mogwai
Sigur Rós
Gregor Samsa
Jesu (more postmetal + shoegaze but you might dig it)

otherwise, just get some more shoegaze in you, ala Lush, Slowdive and Cocteau Twins and stuff.

Hobo 01-06-2008 04:06 AM

postrock? More like postsuck!

Yeah I should pick that up at some point. The trailer had a pretty cool heavy riff in it. And Daniel Gildenlow is on it, so it has to be awesome. But I have a few too many other albums to buy first, and I can't afford them!

Leto 01-08-2008 10:05 PM

You should all get some Khanate into you, because I know all the metallers on OWF love the sound of super dronedoom, two of the slowest/most joked about metal genres.

I wear post socks. : )
