I think I want to have your children.

Take me now!

skillya_glowi 07-05-2006 01:32 PM

As for me, one singer that pisses me off majorly is Bjork. Just the sound of that snivelly voice makes me want to puke.

Kimon 07-05-2006 02:49 PM

:

Ahhh, nice assortment. Although Outkast takes takes the cake. :p

Psh, Eminem, ho.

:

I don't think there is such thing as "violent" music. It's just how you interpret it.

Try to interpret that in a peaceful manner. Eeeek.

Muse, anybody? How about RJD2?

Fez 07-05-2006 02:53 PM

I've been a fan of Muse for some time. I got their new album Black Holes And Revelations and it's not bad at all! Though lacking the punch of the previous Absolution it might just be their best yet.

I don't see anything wrong with Bjorks voice. It's well suited to what she sings. Though I havn't heard all that much, but Army of Me is a fantastic song.

www.fearofmusic.com - Thats who you should all listen to.

Statikk HDM 07-05-2006 05:03 PM

What are you listening to now if anything? I'm starting to listen to a lot more of the Dio stuff I got now. I've been spinning Rainbow albums and Black Sabbath's Heaven and Hell a lot recently. Yeah, Yeah, Dio Sabbath, blah blah blah. Still a damn good album.

Leto 07-05-2006 08:14 PM

If you peoples like Muse, you may like Anathema. Theys have some good stuff. Just steer clear of the first few albums, as they were trying to get out of doom metal.

Fez 07-06-2006 12:16 PM

You can look in my sig to see what I am listening to at the moment!

OANST 07-06-2006 12:28 PM

SUPER FURRY ANIMALS! Rock on.

Fez 07-06-2006 03:45 PM

Only just gotten into them. Great Summer band.

EELS! Now there is a good band, anyone agree?

OANST 07-06-2006 08:45 PM

YES! Yes I fucking do! How did we end up with the same exact musical taste? Very weird but cool to meet someone else with good taste in music.

By the way, Electro Shock Blues is the Eels masterpiece. If you don't have it get it next.

Kimon 07-07-2006 07:43 AM

YES! YES! YEESSS!!!!!

I had no idea anyone else on here liked the Eels! Sweeeeet. I'm a big fan of Souljacker and Shootenanny, both great albums. Blinking Lights and Other Revelations, though, seemed a bit lackluster in my eyes, although the Other Shoe and Going Fetal are great tracks.

Electroshock Blues, you say? I shall pick it up. And I'll check out Anathema. Garoovy.

OANST 07-07-2006 08:46 AM

I think the problem with Blinking Lights was that it was too long with too little variety. There were definitely some great songs on there but I'm not sure if that material warranted a double album.

Life is hard and so am I.

madder128 07-07-2006 08:56 AM

My favourite band is still Pantera.

God bless Dimebag Darrel, i miss you every day and i didn't even know you. Just prooves how much music can have an impact on people.

Much agreed. Most of the songs were slow and soft, which isn't neccessarily bad, but there was a lack of funky blues rockin' that E so regularly provided in previous albums.

Been looking at those Taiwanese children again, have you? You're filthy.

Statikk HDM 07-07-2006 10:17 AM

I think Pantera is a big steaming pile of sell out. That doesn't mean the music sucks, you can sell out and still be a great band. It just blows my mind that a band can go from touring with Skid Row and singing songs with titles like "Power Metal" and "Ride My Rocket" to something like Vulgar Display of Power and touring with Anthrax. They had 4 full length albums as a power/hair metal act, Dimebag used to be Diamond for crying out loud. Its like they're two totally different bands.

Statikk HDM 07-07-2006 11:25 PM

Any Wu-Tang fans in here? Liquid Swords, Tical, Return to the 36 Chambers, Ironman and on and on and on. So much good stuff from those people.
Edit: Honorable mention for Only Built for Cuban Linx.

Although I haven't heard any of their early stuff, Cowboys From Hell is awesome. After that they went a bit too 'Just try and be heavy' for my tastes, though.

Now playing: Muse - Assassin

I'm on my first listen to the new album, it's kicking my ass so far. It seems a lot more cohesive than Absolution.

Fez 07-08-2006 05:30 AM

I only have Beautiful Freak Eels wise, and a couple of songs off other albums. But I shall get Electro-Shock Blues next!

And yeah Fax, the new Muse album isn't too shabby at all!

Statikk HDM 07-08-2006 11:01 AM

I'm gonna try it again.
Steve Miller Band, anybody?
Rush?
Zappa?
Beastie Boys?
Does anybody listen to these bands or have an opinion or are you just going to continue to talk about the Eels without me?
Anyhow, Fax, I bought a Muse album and it was pretty damn good. Absolution, I think.

Statikk HDM 07-08-2006 05:40 PM

Diamond Head?
King Diamond?
King Crimson? Anybody? ANYBODY???
This thread is dead. Give me 50 CCs of crank and my defibrillators!
Clear!
BZZ!
Clear!
BZZ!
He's dead, Jim.

used:) 07-08-2006 05:48 PM

Have you ever considered that no one cares? :D

Statikk HDM 07-08-2006 06:37 PM

Well SHEEyit then. Nobody posts in this friggin' thing anymore. I tried and failed at necroing a 2 day dead thread, so sue me.

Leto 07-08-2006 10:24 PM

I think the new Muse album is awesomekool. Though it doesn't sound like it's their most recent album, it doesn't sound nearly as professional as Absolution did... Sounds like it could be their first one. Don't get me wrong, it's great, but anyone getting me?

Fez 07-09-2006 02:42 AM

Yeah, it lacks the punch that Absolution had. It sounds like everything they have done all in one.

And I prefered the old versions of Exo-Politics and Assassin. EP had a much better guitar part that didn't copy the bassline and Assassin was 5 minutes long with a tapping solo and the whole middle bit (where the song changed completley) has been cut out. Baaad Muse! Stop going for the commercialness!

I'm a Rush fan.
I used to like Beastie Boys.
I've got a Diamond Head Best Of and it's good shit. Too bad their career died so early (I don't want to acknowledge the later stuff).
I want to hear some King Crimson, as so many great bands cite them as an influence, but I've only heard 21st Century Schizoid Man. I think I would like them, if I could find some of their albums!

On Muse: Although I have to admit, I don't have their first two (Can't find them either) I do know a lot of the stuff off them, and I have Hullabulloo, but it doesn't impress me as much as Black Holes and Revelations does.
Contrary to your opinions, Fez and Super Munch, I think it has way more punch. Not to mention it's far more cohesive than Absolution was. I think Absolution is a great album of individual songs, but BHAR beats it in terms of flow and it feels more like all songs were written to be together. Not to mention it seems more mature than their other stuff.
My two cents.

Fez 07-09-2006 09:18 AM

Its more mature. Thats for sure. Absolution is more in your face though, its louder if you know what I mean. It has about 1 slow song that doesnt build up.

Statikk HDM 07-09-2006 12:07 PM

I was surprised at how up front and loud it was, it wasn't what I was expecting. I really like Stockholm Syndrom after that. For somebody who bought the CD at K-Mart for about 9 bucks and liked it what would be the next album to get?

Rich 07-09-2006 02:28 PM

I like Origin of Symmetry the best I think. Showbiz is fun.

Leto 07-09-2006 02:32 PM

Yes, Showbiz is fun, but mostly just that. Though I like them Escape and Unintended tracks. I can't stand Fillip. :D

OANST 07-09-2006 02:37 PM

Dan Zanes is the shit. He used to be the front man for the Del Fuegos back in the 80's but now he makes childrens music. It's the coolest childrens music ever made, though. Check him out.

Rich 07-09-2006 02:44 PM

I think its all rather fun. The piano on Sunburn is most fun. :p Muscle Museum is good, Hate this and I'll love you is good. Its an album where every song is generally good. :p

Leto 07-09-2006 02:50 PM

Well, if this is a general music topic, check this out. I'm just such a sucker for tiny guitars. IT'S ALL HIPPY LIKE :D

Yeah, all the songs are good, few are great. :P Some are iffishly good, like Sober and Uno. But yes, still all goodish.

Rich 07-09-2006 03:03 PM

Whereas Origin has quite a few moments of greatness. :)

Fez 07-10-2006 04:58 AM

Anyoneheard Thom Yorkes new album yet? I'm listening to the previews on itunes now. Can't wait for my next paycheck!

Fez 07-12-2006 04:15 AM

Due to the new of the Late Syd Barret, any Pink Floyd fans here?

Statikk HDM 07-12-2006 10:43 AM

I never liked them that much but at my job the radio station would always play the Floyd Fix from 11 to 11:30 so I'd crank it on the car ride home.

Rich 07-12-2006 01:02 PM

Strange you should mention them, I was listening to High Hopes while strolling through a field earlier, Floyd are awesome. :)

Fez 07-13-2006 03:26 PM

Indeed they are. Wish You Were Here is fantastic. Best 5 song album I have :P

I am yet to get Animals.

Pulp? Anyone?

Rich 07-13-2006 03:31 PM

Fez, I'm interested in purchasing a Pulp album, care to direct me to something accessible and/or their best work?

Fez 07-13-2006 03:32 PM

Different Class was how they got "big" in the Britpop era. Its also the only album I have by them :P

It's bloody good though, every track is a gem. I'm getting This Is Hardcore soon so I will tell you what its like.
