I like your art Dipstikk! A while since I've posted here but you are still as good a drawer as ever. These ideas are creative, and definetly have a feeling about them that would fit in with Oddworld. More please!
PS: Will any of these characters appear in your fic, which I seem to have lost the link to? |
I like the art Dip! Gimme more....:robot:

Nice artwork, Dipstikk. Yeah, he looks like a lanky redneck to me due to the get-up. ;)

Clem colored. I wanted his skin pigment to be similar to a rotting banana. Should I color Burtha or Jacques next? |
I personally like Jacques the best, so I'll go for him. :D Great work Dip.
|
Me too. I wanna see how starks are colored.
|
I was hoping you'd say that. I'll get on that, but I also want to give him some sort of wardrobe. Maybe a trendy pouch on his side and some goggles.
|
I too really like Jaqcues.
Just a thought, was Clem inspired from Junior from Reno 911? |
HAHAHA, I see that too! Oh, man!

Yep definitely, I can see Jacques with flight goggles. Dipstikk, your art is amazing, and the rotting banana effect for Clem was achieved perfectly. I did mean Actra's Oddysee, and it's cool that they will appear. Your creativity is a good thing, most people do pics of sligs, mudokons etd. that, while they are very good, lack the creativity. Good stuff. (I've wanted to use that smilie for so long...)

One of the few pictures that I actually get Alf right. Soak it in, folks. I've always wondered what's keeping Alf's fez on if he doesn't have a ponytail. I guess he would have just cut it down to a nub and fit the fez over it. |
hehe:lol: good job with lil Alfie dude:D he looks cool, oh btw you did a great job with colouring Clem;)
|
Alf looks....Pissed. Wow wonder what happened to him at the time.
|
His fez got nicked. :p

Antonias, Actra's boyfriend. A little bit of Marilyn Manson went into his design. The Noctero have several sub-species, just like dogs, cats, or any other animal for that manner. However, they see these physical differences not as different species, but as seperate tribes. The three main tribes the comic focuses on are the Astinti; Pteronocturnus astintii (Actra's tribe), the Naroskiti; Pteronocturnus naroskitii (short, gangly, Gollum-like creatures), and the Kerrotoss; Pteronocturnus kerrotossidae (huge, brutish creatures with underbites). These are the male variations of each group. Females and better-quality images coming soon. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...k2/Astinti.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1.../Naroskiti.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1.../Kerrotoss.jpg As promised, Jacques in his gear. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...be_smaller.jpg |
Sweet! You are developing quite the society for the Noctero. Very good indeed.

The new replacement for Alf and Munch. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...runk_Actra.jpg New Years parties make some of us do the craziest things. Have another one, Ackie. (Too much hair on the left side of her head) This is part of a "New Years Party" picture theme thingie I've got going. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...2/scan0004.jpg Another pic of the new Mud at this fabricated New Years Party scenario I've decided to create. He's not as think as you drunk he is. ...Anyone missing a lampshade? Just checking. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...he_caravan.jpg A caravan of sorts that Clem, Burtha, and Jacques ride in. The front is a motorized mechanism that hauls the main cabin. The front part would be built later in the comic, and the vehicle itself would simply be the cabin, pulled by Burtha. The trio added the motorized hauler when it became apparent that Burtha was very slow, and they needed that extra push. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...2/scan0003.jpg Left: My quickie-interpritation of an Outlaw shooter's skeleton. Right: BB's head. Neither were done with any refrences, which I'm planning to use next time I draw them. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...2/scan0001.jpg A head concept for Judd the Glukkon, redone because the old design made him look frumpy and dull. He's got a little more pep as opposed to how I drew him before. He'll resemble a hornet in both head design and coloration, to represent his conning, swindling ways. |
I must say, I love all these drawings. It's tough love, I mean, they don't respond or nuthin', but we all get along.
I especially like the skeleton and the train, oh me does. |

The new face of Actra. I hope nobody minds, I wanted her to be a bit more attractive. Yes, she still has hair, I left it out for clarity. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...2/scan0007.jpg The males' faces have also changed. |
Hmm.... Imagining with the hair I think th old actra design was better.

Keep up the good work. |
Nice pics Dippy:p I like the new design of the nocteros, but I'll miss the ol' ones as well:( Anyhow yer pics are great!

Brainstorming ideas for the wings. My idea is that Actra is the only Noctero with wings, the rest have fins like on the old "Male Noctero" drawing. There's a prophecy in Noctero lore that, every 300 years, a winged angel will be born to save the Noctero from peril. So Actra could be that angel, but the others would just think she's a freak with wierd fins. As her quest unfolds, her wings grow larger, and she gains more powers. Note to self- hips need to be bigger |
Hello Guys!
Hi Guys!
I have got some pictures, I made. But I don`t know, how to show them on this page. :( Can somebody tell me how? |
That's another great idea Dippy, and the pic's fabulous, wonderful:D I love this one, but who's this Noctero, what's her name? Wonder what the males would look like when they're finished:D
Strangers Maid, ya asked me the same question, but why can't ya start yer on thread? Remember if the pics are Oddworld related then post them here in the fan corner, otherwise ya put them in the off-topics. ~DS~ |
:
And the males will look almost the same as they did earlier in the thread (fins instead of wings), but their tails will shrink down to about the same size as Actra's. The other females will also have fins and will be flightless, as Actra is the only Noctero to be born with pseudo-wings in 3 centuries. :
If you need further assistance, send me a Private Message, and I'll walk you through it as best I can, and as soon as I can. Thank you, and welcome to the Oddworld Forums! :) |
Yahoo! It did work. You can see my Steef pics in the Fan Corner if you want :)

My mind went wandering again.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...mp/Malebug.jpg An as-of-yet-unnamed male insect character enlists the aid of an archaeologist to help him uncover secrets about his people's history. Not sure why yet, but I built Actra from the ground up, this shouldn't be too hard. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...emp/Fembug.jpg The archaeologist. "But Matt, insects don't lactate! Why does she have breasts?" Neither do chickens, but that didn't stop OWI. Plus, you instantly recognised that she was a female, right? Would you have if she were bare-chested? Some cool physical details about these guys -They have both an edoskeleton and exoskeleton, but the endoskeleton is much less defined than ours (we need ours for support, but they have the aid of the external armor). Some parts of them (like the face) is fleshy. This is how I gave them semi-humanoid facial features. -The "milk" the females produce is really their own venom, beefed up with nutrients. Both genders are immune to the female's poison, so the infants are perfectly safe drinking it. Some of the more perverse or poor females will bottle and sell their milk, nutralizing it with cetain herbs and spices. Nutralized venom is considered an afrodesiac to many other species, and sells well at high prices. -These insects have humanoid mouths, but their jaws are hinged and attached to their skull. They extend them to take bites out of food. This is what I call the skeletal phase. I map out where I want everything to go, and work up. |
I generally like insects, and damn, I likes me the first one. The head and the odd arms especially.
Noice. Noice indeed. |
The finished insects.
http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/4142/malebug17hw.jpg The male insect. http://img474.imageshack.us/img474/2680/fembug17pl.jpg The female insect. http://img390.imageshack.us/img390/9...guybug10as.jpg A bad bug. http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/2116/fembug23xu.jpg Another picture of the female insect. I don't have any species names or personal names for them yet, but I like the word Altus (meaning "high" in Latin), and may name the male insect Altus. |
Those insects are just so cool;) I love 'em! Great Job - I couldn't have done better:)
~DS~ |
Damn, once you got the anatomy nailed down, it seems like you instantly know the character. The second female insect stance, flawless.
Floorless. |
Thanks, guys. I've cleaned up the last picture, and added the feet.
\/ http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/7...bugpose4xz.jpg And this is a detailed picture of what her jaws look like. The lower jaw is split, and can seperate to accomidate prey. This species, while domesticated, still posess strong hunting instincts, and prefer their prey kicking and screaming as opposed to eating at a civilized location. She looked so sweet, too... \/ http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...mbug_mouth.jpg These creatures have the majority of digestive organs in their abdomen, and the thorax area is simply a place to store food until it's ready to be pushed down. Millions of years earlier, extinct relatives would hibernate during the winter months and would have to store an insane quantitiy of food in their "waiting room," (they had a high metabolism, and while it slowed down, it was still pretty fast) and while the species no longer hibernates, their thorax segments still retain the same elasticity. I got the idea from mosquitos and ticks, obviously. (She forgot to sting this one, apparently. Poor slug-thing's hanging on to something for dear life, literally!) \/ http://img224.imageshack.us/img224/5...ingcopy1vu.jpg But seriously, she's not a bad bug, just built for a carnivorous lifestyle. I'll do some more of the tall male bug, and some more docile pictures of the she-bug later. |
Attention, today, I'm an unintentional grinch.
I wasn't at this topic for ages and missed the new design of Actra. First, I thought it's a design for the young Actra or for a baby because of the smaller face and the proportional bigger eyes, the round chin and forehead. She reminds me a bit on Nina Hagen http://www.vh1.com/shared/media/imag...nina_hagen.gif but after I read that this is the new design for Actra, I recognized that she envolves to a beauty queen on Oddworld. The males design has a rough female touch because of the round female eyes and the full lips. Their face look so smooth. Please don't beat me up, I just want to tell you my toughts. Why does Actra ha such a tight hair cut? The brand recognition of Oddworld is still it's inhabitants, which look so crazy, felted, warty and wet, that everyone knows "yeah, that's an Oddworld brand". The hair style of Actra reminds me on captivity, closeness and a bit prudish. Since you showed us what clothes she wears and what her body looks in natural, her hair must look a bit "wilder" and "free". Why don't you try out other hair styles to look if this current style is the perfect one, which is the typical Actra style? I hope I'm not the asshole because of my critique today but I'm not perfect too and I just want to give you some advices. You know what happened to me when I looked at the first male bug? My eyes stuck on him again because I love the detail and the face. Just wonderful! All of your bug creations are superb and I still think they aren't the highlights of your art skills yet. I think the best of you is yet to come and this will beat up my face. |
