The furthest right slig, with the tube things.

They're meant to be the glowing sticks that are on the MO Specialist sligs.http://oddworldlibrary.net/archives/...buKVWPa5Ty.jpg

Also here's Big Face! Slog Bait and I were having a conversation about where exactly KO will take place time-wise and it is pre-AO, so unfortunately there won't be any WANTED posters for Abe lying around. However since I also wanted Big Face in the game I concluded that the title of "Big Face" gets passed down from shaman to shaman, along with the mask and staff. So though this is Big Face, he's not the same Big Face as the one that appears in AO/AE, just the same mask and staff.

I like how the eye of bigface seems to get cut off on the left side of the sprite, makes it have depth.

Big Face looks wicked good ¦)

NOT A DEMO: P.S I'M SORRY

Sorry this isn't the demo I promised you at the end of March. All I can really say about it is that, everything within the demo is complete - I'm just waiting on Oziah to finish up a couple more tracks. Though I won't rush him since I'd prefer something good, rather than something quick.

In the meantime I've been testing some abilities for Adult Kip to utilise. I'm sorry for the bad quality, all i have is registered Hypercam to record with, and at such a small resolution (320x240) it tends to be a bit blurred. So here's the effect you get whilst dashing.

JayDee 05-27-2014 04:59 PM

Alright, so the eagle eyed amongst you may have noticed that there indeed was not a demo at the start of March. My apologies for that. This project is still very much alive however I'm currently working on what the game is, rather than how it is.

Basically I'm sorting out every bit of story, basic to advanced so that when I continue it isn't just a mess of quests and dialogue. This has mostly involved staring at various pages on the Oddworld Library searching interviews and looking at concept art. (Thanks a bunch to Xavier for answering some of my silly questions)
Currently I'm even drawing where the locations you visit are on a map of Mudos, so that for the most part it all makes sense. It's a lot of effort but to me getting the lore and world correct is one of the most important things for me to achieve in this project.

Oddworld has always been about the world you're in; if I can't stay true to that then I won't be making something that I truly enjoy making.

and my hype meter has been refilled. Can't wait.

JayDee 06-05-2014 10:02 AM

I like putting things like this together, it's a nice way to keep you guys in the loop and give you a bit of info about stuff to come. There are more non-BigBro Sligs I could show you guys if you wanted to see - but here's what you'll be seeing the most of.

I swear it's not dead!

http://i1270.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3ce9a3c9.png

Alright, I figured I'd give an update to this project since I've been incredibly quiet about everything for the past months. In all honesty, I've been incredibly busy and haven't been working on this as much as I'd have liked to, however as those of you that I speak to outside of the forums will know, I have definitely been working on the game. Though I don't consider it to be at a point where I'd feel happy enough with the end result to release a demo. Though to assure you that this isn't dead, and that things are being done, here's a list of things:

Plot - I've completely finished the story for the game, Every main character, boss, area, main quest. It's all been completely planned out and just waiting for me to implement it.

Combat - Combat is in the process of being improved, giving more freedom and variety with attacks.

Enemies - Many enemies have sprites and fight patterns ready and waiting to be implementing. As i've said before, not all Mudokons you'll meet will be helpful.
http://i1270.photobucket.com/albums/...ps95255495.gif

Kip - Due to events that occour in the story I felt it would be too big of a leap to go straight from Child Kip to Adult Kip, so there's now an angsty teen phase.

Areas - As said before, all areas within the game have been planned out, along with acompanying dungeons, tribes, quests. I just need to find the time and skill to sprite aaaaaaall the different locations. And here's some early factory tests

http://i1270.photobucket.com/albums/...ps55bd7ee5.png

I'd share and show more, though I feel like the current number of images is a tad excessive, but that's what I've been up to. And my apologies for not having worked on it more.

Those pillars are gorgeous.

Crashpunk 10-02-2014 04:51 AM

This is looking really cool so far. :)

Oddey 10-02-2014 05:16 AM

Actually, those areas look really really crisp. I'm not too fond of the clear blue sky behind the second screenshot, but besides that, I really do like where they're headed.

Thanks! There are more tiles that weren't used in these tests, though I am quite fond of the pillars myself.

Thanks, also! The bright blue is just a standard background I use in tests as it contrasts nicely with the tiles, for larger areas such as those the backgrounds are a seperate drawing.

Production is now back on track with a demo coming out Mid to Late March. See you then!

It's this March.

Phylum 03-02-2015 12:36 PM

So in Valve Time... if I carry the two...

May next year?

Job McYossie 03-02-2015 07:43 PM

From what I know a bunch of life happened to him.

Mid to Late March for a demo, I'm aiming to have the first "Act" completed and playable, but it'll be what it is.

From what I know a bunch of life happened to him.

Oh you know it.

Alright, so in order to build a little more hype thanks to this thoroughly dragged out wait in period, ask me anything! About the game of course, but if you're curious about mechanics, setting, characters; post your questions and I'll answer them as best I can as long as they're not too spoiler-y

Oddey 03-05-2015 11:34 AM

Is there a portal gun?

Is there a portal gun?

There are portals.

And there are guns.

Oddey 03-06-2015 11:18 AM

How many different levels will be contained in the demo? And what kind of levels are they?

JayDee 03-07-2015 12:00 PM

The world is one continuous space with separate areas, similar to Castlevania or Metroid so they're not "levels" as such, but the first area is your home village, the second area is an underground dungeon, and the third area is an industrial/factory styled area. Each of these has multiple sub quests to perform outside the main quest line, as well as a few mini-dungeons spread across the over world.

Shade667 03-08-2015 10:25 PM

I skipped the first 4 pages, but this looks cool.

What programs are u using for this?

Job McYossie 03-09-2015 01:30 AM

I suggest looking at the whole thing, it's really neat.

JayDee 03-16-2015 07:06 AM

This may take a little longer to bring around than I'd expected.. I retract mid/late March.
This is now late March, with a very liberal classification of where March is on the calender.

Job McYossie 03-16-2015 07:19 AM

But I wanted a demo for my birthday!

Shrykull43 03-16-2015 05:03 PM

I really can't wait for this. Good luck, it looks awesome so far.

I don't know when that is but if you Skype me then I'll send you the demo as is it currently since you've been so gosh darn supportive of this game, as long as you're fine with an unfinished thing.

I'm glad you think it looks awesome! Hopefully you like the actual demo when it actually comes about.

Thanks! Admittedly despite saying I'd work on this considerably more I haven't had a lot of time to work on it, as Job said, due to personal issues.

But it is being worked on right this very second and is getting a graphical upgrade! No change to the overall style of the the graphics, but considerably more diversity in the areas to better differentiate between them.

Pictures soon to come!

Shade667 03-23-2015 10:54 AM

I like pictures.
