Yup, don't see what 3D technology (as in 3D glasses or 3DS technology) would add to a 2D sidescroller such as the Abe's Oddysee.

Bullet Magnet 03-11-2011 05:54 AM

The joy of seeing Abe's head fly towards you after stepping on a mine?

For my part, spinning depossessed slig heads are written indelibly onto my memories.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I want 3d glasses to see Abe's body parts flying at my face in full graphic detail after he explodes. (All other creatures too: actually preferably that because I wouldn't want dying to be too much fun.)

3DTVAOHD is there expressly to make the bee swarms more mesmerizing.

If JAW doesn't do the bees right, there's just no point to any of it.

ziggy 03-11-2011 01:03 PM

I have a huge fear of bees/ bee swarms, and if the bees were made to look real and in HD3D those chase scenes would be that much more thrilling and terrifying.

Come to think of it, that might allow for more of those sections and a musical chase cue.

This is exactly the type of stuff that I was thinking of. Swarming bees, flying body parts, detection lasers, firefly lights etc. in brilliantly implemented 3D. Are those not exciting ideas? Or am I missing something here?

I'm not sure if this was mentioned in a previous post but I would love to see an online mode. It would work the exact same way as the 2 player mode on the Playstation.

Havoc 03-14-2011 03:27 PM

Wait... when did Oddworld ever have multiplayer of any kind?

JennyGenesis 03-14-2011 03:31 PM

In the Playstation version of Abe's Oddysee and Abe's Exoddus there was a 2 player mode. When player 1 dies. It's player 2's turn and vice versa. Not really sure why it wasent included in the PC versions.

Wow, I just came up with a grand idea.

With 2 player mode, you and your friend are on a time limit to race to the end. Neither of you need to save mudokons, just see who can pass a level in the fastest time.

First you choose a level, then you each speedrun the level and see who makes it to the end the fastest.

That would rule I think.

Yep. This is the exact idea that I mentioned on OWI's Facebook page. It's looking likely to happen too - they "liked" my post. So fingers crossed. By the way, I like your avatar. It's probably the best I've seen on these forums. :)

Xavier 03-16-2011 04:06 AM

They just have to put a little timer in to record the time you need to finish a level, not too difficult I expect.

Still I like to take my time when I play games so it's a "meh" coming from my side.

JennyGenesis 03-16-2011 04:26 AM

It maybe a "meh" to you but it adds a little replay value if you ask me.

enchilado 03-16-2011 04:30 AM

I want to see some hot, sweaty sex scenes featuring vicious threesomes with Abe, Sam, and the bad-tempered but sexy Queen Margaret.

Xavier 03-16-2011 04:50 AM

Why don't you simply and straightforwardly ask for an infraction?

There you go, enjoy this warning while it's hot.

JennyGenesis 03-16-2011 05:53 AM

Anybody else assume that the I believe its called "autoturn cancel" glitch will be patched? The glitch where you face the wrong way on a ledge. Press down and quickly run and then you can climb through the floor.

Dynamithix 03-16-2011 05:56 AM

I'm pretty sure they are aware of that glitch and will patch it.

Wil 03-16-2011 06:01 AM

It's being built from scratch in a completely different engine, why would that glitch still exist?

MeechMunchie 03-16-2011 06:36 AM

Tradition.

Never Sleeper 03-17-2011 12:31 AM

I don't know if somebody call it before, but I want defently the original music or never the less the same composer of the first two games in it. I like the music of Michael Bross too, but it would'nt have the same feeling of it, as Josh Gabriel or Ellen Meijers (who ever wrote the music for it) have create it.

Nate 03-17-2011 03:12 AM

Do you mean the music of the FMVs or the sound design within gameplay?

Never Sleeper 03-17-2011 03:13 AM

Well I don't care so much about the FMV's music than about the one in the gameplay. =)

Nate 03-17-2011 04:52 AM

Then that was Ellen Meijer's work, and I agree with you.

Havoc 03-17-2011 07:50 AM

Yup I agree too. Music was a very big influence on the entire experience.

JennyGenesis 03-17-2011 10:11 AM

I'd love to see the soundtrack updated. But I would definately love to see the original soundtrack make it into the game. An option to switch beetween the original and updated music would be lovely. Marvel VS Capcom 3 has something very similar.

Wil 03-17-2011 10:23 AM

I'd like the original music, but updated to modern standards of quality. The good news is that because of its dynamic nature, every single note and sound is preserved for posterity.

Crashpunk 03-17-2011 10:35 AM

I agree. A modern mix of the orginal oddysee music would be nice.

Manco 03-17-2011 01:29 PM

Yeah, I'd love to see a remastered soundtrack as well. I recently downloaded a remastered version of an old PS1 game's soundtrack - all of the individual instruments and notes could be distinguished from one another, channels were separated properly, overall much better quality. The difference between that and the original audio was night and day, despite it being the exact same melody.

My poorly illustrated example is me attempting to explain how much of a difference remastered audio can make.
