Lets just all STFU about this "virus" slog shit. Did anyone happen to download them?

Okay, let's just all be quiet and pretend the antivirus software never said anything.

Paul, your project is promising, and we'd all like to see it continue.

STM, if your AV was blocking the file and you wanted help, that's fair enough. I would just suggest making it very clear what you're trying to say.

GO, get real. It's not a virus. It does nothing a virus does. Just beacuse the AV does it's job of detecting and notifying you of an incoming file, that does not mean the the said file is malicous.

This.

Also, Paul, there's no need to overreact. So some people claimed your work to be a virus. We know it's not a virus. We didn't need any scanners to tell us this. And Norton is fail. Having a tantrum and walking away only caused nearly a page of spam and some disappointed fans who want to see this project continue. Dropping this project and walking away is well in your rights, you were never obliged to do anything here, but I know I speak for a lot of people when I ask you to reconsider.

I still have the most recent binary if anyone needs it. Although I am reluctant to provide as it is Paul's decision whether this file is public or not.

I apologize for any offence taken from this post, and for continue to doom this thread in its off-topic-ness.

I think we can rip some mudokon sprites and elum sprites if this all works out. If you have the frames Paul and you want to continue, I can set it all up.

You're right, its been a tough week, then when you get some 14 year old telling you that what you spent your free time on "give them a virus" even after explaining how its not a virus made me slightly irrate ;)

There is another app called desktop penguins for windows which is open source unlike eSheep. This one injects a hook into all running processes to capture when the windows move or are updated.

So you can bet your dinner that all AV's will find it dodgy and/or tell you that its trying to "inject" into other processes / monitor keyboard and mouse activity.

Since the current version hammers the CPU I think using hooks is the only way to improve performance of this app.

But the open source app will also draw directly on the desktop which causes weird rendering issues on my laptop. So I think separate windows and a global hook is the best method of implementing this.

So if anyone wants to repost the app then go for it, I have no idea what they are uploading so I take no responsibility for whatever it might be :P

I'm going to develop my conversion app more first since it pretty much gets all the sprites in a format thats usable! So until then I won't be doing anything more on this, I'd like to get AE sprites too so that flying sligs can be added.

ODDWORLDisTHEbest! 08-21-2010 12:37 AM

flying sligs is a good idea, they could whiz past your screen, or blow the others up for a laugh!

STM 08-21-2010 04:40 AM

Yes'd be fun. I won't be able to play eSlig unless it's re-done, sorry Paul if you thought that I said it gave me a virus, Norton suggested that and I'm not Norton. XD

ODDWORLDisTHEbest! 08-21-2010 10:33 AM

no offence but that was a little stupid what gabbits own said, why the hell would paul give us a virus? its not really scrabtrapman, he only said that norton thought it gave him one.

ON T: although, it would slow the pc down a lot, especially if it were to blow something up, even the BETA sligs slowed my pc down a bit, brilliant work so far though.

Yeah thats the problem without using hooks, polling all the window positions and drawing lots of windows at 60fps dosent work too well :(

In a real game its one window with hardware acceleration, after I get the decoder where I want it I'll try some global hook stuff and see if I can make it a lot faster

STM 08-22-2010 03:59 AM

Just saying, Is this compatible with windows 7? Cause this looks awesome. I DON'T WANT TO MISS OUT!

Yes. I can confirm that the latest version of this project is Windows 7 compatible, suggesting that any future updates will follow suit.

Hehe, this is brilliant! Exactly what I had in mind :)

Yes, it works fine in Windows 7.

Can't believe people's terrible virus scanners. :p

You certainly are very talented Paul :D Hope you pick up the project again sometime, this app could be very flash indeed with sounds and normal fall rates etc., I daresay it's already better than the eSheep program!

GABBITS OWN 08-28-2010 02:00 AM

Its alot better I think.

I'm still working on extracting all sprites at the moment, parsing the frame tables of AO animations seems very hit and miss, but I've come up with a manual way of doing it by searching for bit patterns with a bit of luck there won't be any crazy edge cases and I'll get 100% of sprites from AO ripped.

Phylum 08-28-2010 04:09 PM

Sounds complicated. Good luck in your plight!

STM 08-29-2010 03:59 AM

When it's done I'll transfer it onto my laptop so It'll work there.

Paul 08-29-2010 10:49 AM

I've released decoder 0.4 over in LVL files, its close to doing everything I want, the last major updates will be FG1 for AO/AE and fixing any outstanding issues.

STM 09-01-2010 09:59 AM

nice 1

Stitchlips -X--X- 09-02-2010 11:09 PM

if any1 makes one plz message me that wuld be awesome

Mudokon_Master 09-03-2010 03:39 PM

This could be good. I really like the idea, and I'm looking forward to trying it when it's done.

Stitchlips -X--X- 09-04-2010 06:34 PM

i know you can use hex workshop to change the colours of esheep and do you reckon you could use that to work it???

Urgh squished-in-y-axis sprites

Job McYossie 04-22-2015 06:50 PM

Oh my gosh this is the best thing I am in love with it.

Paul 04-23-2015 07:32 AM

Found the source so decided to release it, feel free to fork & fix the squashed sprites and countless other bugs ;)

New 'n' Tasty 05-02-2015 06:20 AM

cool now i have sligs on my desktop. its like an oddworld std

Job McYossie 05-02-2015 11:04 AM

Oh shoot, who left the backdoor open?

Nah, it's in the spirit of the originals.
