My friend showed me this band called Lordi, I love 'em.

You mean that Finnish Heavy Metal band that won the Eurovision Songfestival?

Hobo 11-01-2007 11:49 AM

There is no other Lordi as far as I am aware.

Lordi suck though, GWAR ace them.

AlienMagi 11-01-2007 12:02 PM

Actually Lordi are from my country.
And god damn Lordi is slovenian langague! In english they are Lords.

Mac Sirloin 11-01-2007 05:57 PM

OANST, if you are to still get the new Radiohead, listen to it with OK Computer. Read this, I was well interested.

edit: To anyone who missed Oink (or doesn't know what it is), this article sums it up something nice. Long article on the ethics of music piracy.

OddjobAbe 11-04-2007 07:31 AM

I'd like to know if anyone here thinks anything of the long-gone 80's band Mr. Bungle. I thought they were fantastic. They were something different than other bands - they incorporated several different genres into one song without making the song sound horrible. They're seriously worth listening to. They did a lot of video game themes and movie themes too. I found that interesting to listen to.

Oh god, wait for facsimilie. He quite likes Bungle as far as I can tell

Interesting theory. I'll try it out. I do have the new album and have been really enjoying it. I like it a lot better than Hail to the Thief.

Holy crap. Radiohead awesome points plus infinity.
I can't wait for the CD to come out. I'm a collector, I have to have the physical product.

80's? Long gone?
True, they were around in the 80s, but all three of their albums were released in the '90s, and they only officially broke up a few years ago.

Apart from this, you're totally right. Mr. Bungle were amazing, but what else could be expected from them when the saviour, Mike Patton, is at the helm. 'Without making the song sound horrible' is debatable. Disco Volante could probably be used for torture of prisoners due to its utter incomprehensibility.

Hobo 11-06-2007 03:24 AM

Out of the three concerts I wanted to see this month (Porcupine Tree, Korpiklaani and Led Zepplin) I am seeing exactly 0. This upsets me. Greatly.

I have to admit, I didn't like Disco Valante, though I refer to most of their songs when I say 'without making them sound horrible'. I didn't know they only broke up a few years ago. I thought they finished recording in the '90s and broke up one or two years after. Just goes to show how much I know about them

I'm a classic rock guy myself. My latest songs are from Alice Cooper's black widow album.

Other than that, I don't have much to discuss about modern music :/.

Hobo 11-06-2007 01:20 PM

If you only listen to music from one period you'll get bored fast. As it doesn't change

Salamander 11-07-2007 06:14 PM

So did I. But I'm guessing that means you didn't really like it...I think.

I loved it though, the guitarist sounds insane.

High five!

I just found out a cool band called Stabbing Westward. Turns out they're Industrial Rock! So far their song, Save Yourself, is the best one I've heard from them.

Perhaps a new genre for me collection!

That song is ANCIENT! You've just heard it?

Arxryl 11-08-2007 07:41 PM

I recently bought Serj Tankian's new lbum "Elect the Dead" and it is pretty cool. I like the songs "Empty Walls", "Lie Lie Lie", and "Sky is Over". I like the others, but for now, those are my favorites.

I also got a new Modest Mouse album, and for the first time really listening to them, I enjoy their music quite a bit. :)

Yes. Modest Mouse, I've heard other good tales about them. It's about time I started listening to them...

OANST 11-09-2007 10:48 AM

Now, this is my kind of conversation. I loves the Modest Mouse.

ziggy 11-10-2007 03:26 PM

They played The World at Large randomly at my school the other day during lunch. hmmmmm

Rupture Farms 11-13-2007 11:59 PM

Anyone heard Dimmu Borgir?

http://static.metal-archives.com/ima...9/69_photo.jpg

I suppose they're freaks, but they have made some brilliant, brilliant music. ('Progenies of the Great Apocolypse' is one of the greatest songs ever.)

abe is now! 11-14-2007 11:17 AM

They are very terrifying: but I didn't hear them. I think they aren't commercial.

Leto 11-14-2007 11:21 AM

I think just about everyone whos heard of metal has heard of Dimmu Borgir. That being said I only really like sludge.

New sigurros dvd gaaaaaiiize, watch the song Heima just because you haven't already.

edit: OANST, listen this, no idea why I thought of you when I found the band, they're called Espers and make super prettyful music.

Hobo 11-21-2007 01:27 PM

*Bump/DP*

I intend to purchase tickets to see the Defenders Of The Faith London Date. Should be awesome - Arch Enemy and Opeth plus two other bands.
