Well Sekto was knocked out, not dead :p

Sorry if this question has been asked... How come flying Sligs weren't in MO? They would've been great for a chase level or something.
|
I expect they were planned to be. There were even slig helicopters that can be seen in the downloads section of Oddworld-Web, but like so much of MO, it was cut so that it could be finished in time to be a release title.
|
They cut all the good bits, like Sam and the other queens, the game would have been a lot better.
|
Yes. Let's join the masses and blame Microsoft for that one. And Electronic Arts, for good measure.
|
EA has nothing to do with MO...
but yeah, lets blame them too :p anyway flying sligs in 3D would be way to hard to program or restrain |
It would have also been hard (gameplay wise) to kill them until you got the mudarchers. Seeing as their isn't any guns or anything Abe can pick up...
|
Presumeably the possession orb would be able to jump that high... though I doubt it would have been used at all if all had gone to plan.
|
It would have been impossible in a 3d game because the flying sligs would have been able to go anywhere - fly infinitely high. They would have had to come up with some artificial way of restraining you. So they never even planned to put flying sligs into MO.
Feel free to still blame EA though. |
Is OWI planning a MO director's cut?
If so will it include Roid? |
I seriously doubt it. It would have been interesting to play as him, but it would have meant they'd need to change the whole game to do so.
They'd need to change some puzzles, the way you resque fuzzles most ofd the time, and possibly the story line. However much fun it would have been though... |
OWI aren't planning any games at the moment
so definatly not a remake of one of their old games, and especially not the one that was recieved not so good by players and press. |
A MO Director's Cut would be great, with a few cut movies or something, but like Xav said, they would never make it.
|
MO Director's Cut would have all the missing features in it that would make it good...maybe even Sea Rexes :P
I'd like to see a 2D MO in the same style as AE. Underwater would also be fairly interesting. But it ain't never gonna be. How irksome. Is SW situated in Mudo's, or what? Or where? I think it is in Mudos, but one can't be sure...no recognisable species at all, except maybe Slogs...they're probly imported or something, though. |
Stranger’s Wrath takes place in Western Mudos (appropriately enough). Which is a bit confusing when you look at the Oddworld Map, because it appears the Mongo River is actually slightly north of where we last saw Abe and Munch.
|
But we do play much closer to it's source. Or is there another river that runs into that one?
I think it's time to write agian, Max. |
I presume Munch ends up at the Mongo River eventually, because he's got to go to Ma Spa to hacth all those Gabbit eggs, see?
|
Except that he wouldn't be able to until the dam was gone. Though the chronological order of the games is never said, it's just easier to say they are in order.
|
Stranger’s Wrath ran concurrent with the Quintology. The implication from that phrase is that it takes place during/after Munch’s Oddysee.
Write another set of corrections to the Oddworld Map? I have bigger fish‐flavoured soya to fry. Plus Alf’s still on leave. |
Didn't we discuss before SW came out that, given the map, it was likely that the river that Munch starts the story in is not necessarily the Mongo River?
Personally, I thought it was that river given the similarity between the bendy bit at the top of the river and the map of the Mongo Valley on the EA website, but I was voted down. |
I’m in favour of them being the same. The relationship between the Mongo River and Gabbits is widely accepted since The Art of Oddworld Inhabitants was released. Plus they look the same.
I think it’s more likely that Western Mudos is a misnomer. |
or north isn't on the top on the oddworld map :p
|
For all we know, north could be called weast in Oddworld.
|
The compass points on the map are labelled ‘life’ ‘death’ and ‘time’. The obscured one points to what we would call North. Maybe it is indeed Oddworldian West. :p
|
I personally believe OWI said Western, to really imply the Clint Eastwood theme of SW. But yeah, west could be north to Oddworld.
But would this mean if the Sekto Springs Dam could've made a plot for Munch in the could've-been ME? And would this mean that Sekto is also another part time reason why Gabbits are endangered? And would this mean that Sekto could be an enemy in ME? (If there is going to be one) |
Question:
Does anyone know the words (I hesitate to say 'lyrics') to the Munch Remix thing from the Downloads at oddworld.com? The only bits I can catch are "Spiritual action must complete cause? for something-something, the purpose and law of sheer existence, bladibla, and something must do something, as the river flows into the sea". The rest I can't make out...help? |
That had lyrics?! I didn't even know there were words! I'm gonna have to listen to that again.
|
honestly I never tried to listen to the lyrics
but Sekto could easely be one of Munch main enemies, yes :) |
It's about two minutes into the remix but I always just thought of it as ambient noise rather than something to listen to.
|
I’d never heard these lyrics either, but I started listening, and there's some interesting stuff in there (which is quite typical of Bross).
Starting at 2·38/2·39 there begins the phrase “There is no end, there is no beginning, and there is no middle to all of this,” which comes from the Bhagavad Gita: “nantam na madhyam na punas tavadim” |
