Just some small teasers.. :D
Find 5.... abnomalities? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...-05_003514.png Glitch's new and improved house, which ended up not being so improved anymore: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...-05_032943.png http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...-05_032950.png Also... the scariest thing happened yesterday. I was walking back to my the mountain house, and came across a very bad omen: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...-05_041000.png I don't know what it means or if someone just made that on purpose(though ice tends to change frequently, so I dunno), but it may mean something big in the future O_O DUHN DUHN DUHN |
@Glitcher: Sounds like some interesting changes you've got lined up for us. :P I look forward to the results - And the reaction to them. Heh.
Anyway you could've simply removed all the paintings and swapped the melons back with stone. I just did that for you in about 2 or 3 minutes. |

Tell me more about this Oddworld dating game.

I'm guessing you'll have to hit at least 50 of 99 mudokens to get a good ending...
...instant GOTY. |
MudokOn. If my rep power wasn't so great I'd negrep everyone who can't spell the name of the species that stars in the game this forum exists for.
Saying it was a dating sim is the wrong way to upset people here. All you're doing is punishing the guy who wasn't there, even more than he was punished by not being there! (Aka. me) :crying: Actually I couldn't sleep on Friday night 'cus of thinking in blocks, so I decided to have a day off the game. Had to happen when all the excitement was occurring... |
Well... it was probably for the best you weren't there... We had a minor accident...

Also Shrykull has golden hair which stands on end. |
Good luck making a toaster into a romantic lead.

I was attempting to appear aloof and disinterested in the franchise, hence spelling Glukkon wrong.

We've been trying to grab music discs this evening - getting skellies to kill creepers is simple on paper but difficult in practice. You need to prepare the creeper by getting it within one arrow's damage of death (three hits with an iron sword is sufficient), else you risk the creeper retaliating at the skeleton with the familiar suicidal explosion.
Easiest way to do this is with two-meter-deep holes that you can get both skelly and creeper trapped in - obviously injuring the creeper before introducing the two. Unfortunately, on top of the expected mis-timings and arrow hits, you also have to contend with zombies and spiders trying to get a slice of you. And if there's more than one skelly or creeper at once, things can get confusing. We've been having a blast (well, quite a few) on the south side of the cathedral, but the amount of dirt it takes to patch the creeper holes is rapidly eating into my storage. I think I'd like to construct an obsidian record farm somewhere. We started swapping discs to build up our personal collections. I propose a noticeboard of duplicate discs we'd be willing to swap, positioned either near the disc farm, or in a convenient location near the spawn area of Ma'Spa. I'd also like to get a public music booth set up with its own independent library of discs. |
First part of the mess we made last night. All in good fun though and we helped build a proper house later on :).
And here's the worst idea ever. |

They rebuilt the damage that was done to your creations, and they tried to apologize, from what I know. From the video, it is clear that this whole thing was not aimed to grief you and your creations - you'll see how pretty much everything was in danger around the area where the dragon spawned, including Wil's cathedral.
The whole spawning-creatures thing obviously got out of hand recently, to be sure. But I don't believe it was anyone's intention to cause actual harm to anyone's creative work with it. Mere curiousity, a taste for randomness and a tiny bit of liking towards non-directed disaster is the cause here. Let things clear up, let people explain themselves and then we can draw conclusions, but not before that. |
:
We probably shouldn't do that again though - Or at least do it where it doesn't matter. Oh and for the record, this is the condition we left Splat's enderman house in: http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1328521951 These are Glitch's houses as they currently stand: http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1328521951 I don't think anything justifies Splat's actions last night. |
If I trashed the inside of Rupture Farms and rebuilt it differently you wouldn't call that repaired just because the outside walls looked ok.
Things are getting out of hand. Spawning mobs or whatever, it's destroying other people's work, which is the definition of griefing. If you're going to mess about and destroy things, do it to your own work. And if you don't want to do that, then think how you're making other people feel when you do the same to theirs. EDIT: Also, thank you for de-opping me so I can't even fix the damage you did to my stuff. Who else has been de-opped for breaking it in the first place? |
|
:
Since months of work can't easily be fixed even from using references, unlike your enderman house, in that situation I'd probably try and find a way of getting it back on the server via a separate world or so - Or not bother and simply work on it offline from then on. However that wouldn't justify me to, in anger, deliberately and maliciously place TNT under other people's homes, rigged to explode when they opened the doors. This is why you got de-OPed. Those words are rich coming from you after you did that. |
Ah, so if I'd merely deliberately spawned some destructive mobs by his house and let them destroy it, that'd be fine?
|
No it wouldn't, and you have a right to be annoyed - However Havoc's spawning of mobs was done what we thought was far away enough from anything important, but it did get out of hand even though it was done for the sake of entertainment. But at least look at the video and our actions before you assume that we "let" the dragon destroy your house. What happened wasn't right and can't be justified, sure, but it isn't like we didn't try to make up for the mistakes and attempt to repair the damage afterwards.
You're taking it entirely the wrong way - Remember that you're angry over something which happened in a virtual world to data on a server, most of which you haven't actually lost very much and was replaced by the people who accidentally removed it through incompetence. Yes, it shouldn't have happened in the first place, and I don't think it'll happen again after this, but even so - it doesn't justify you deliberately trying to remove other people's data in retaliation. Chill out a bit please. |
What would make you see the fact that they meant no personal offence by it, and that they tried to repair the damage done to the best of their ability (which I think is the main difference between griefing and what they did)? I know you feel offended by it, and I know how you are when it comes to abusing server commands without reason, but come on.
Havoc, stop posting videos glorifying your Worst Idea Ever and provide some explanation! Grr and stuff. On that note, I just remembered that the path between Dark Fortress and Ma'Spa got damaged by a (naturally spawned) Creeper, and I had no materials on me at the time to fix it. I'll go back there and do the repairs once I get home from work. |
I've fixed the path, I've fixed the Enderman house, fixed the outside of my castle and I've been to the Nether to get the supplies to fix my castle after all the doors were left open and a creeper got in.
I've spent half the night and half the morning wound up about this and coming up with a wide variety of ridiculous solutions to make it all worse, from rigging the button that opens Havoc's door to claiming total ignorance to planting TNT everywhere and quitting the server, but in the end the best option seems to be for me to apologise. Havoc, I'm sorry I rigged your house, and if you want any help or supplies repairing or working on it further, just say. Even without spawning I'll help and contribute as you wish; just say the word. Nikki, I'm sorry I killed all the wheat in your farm. Everyone, I'm sorry I let myself get so angry about this and acted so stupidly. I could try and justify it with not sleeping and stress but at the end of the day I acted like a twit and I'm sorry for doing so. Edd, I don't for a moment think Havoc would stop spawning mobs just 'cus of this. But Havoc, I will ask you to stop doing it, 'cus it is causing problems on the server. We're very close to the server mob limit, or were, and Ma'Spa is a mess from chickens, let alone all the creepers and ghasts. Please quit it; it's not having a good impact on the game. Once again, I am sorry for messing things up. |
I was in creative mode and spawning mobs. Lots of mobs. Right next to the cathedral. Anyone who didn't want to join in fighting them (which was tremendous amount of fun) could have gone elsewhere. What I did do is avoid spawning in anything destructive - no creepers or ghasts, and certainly not an enderdragon. That was a Very Bad Idea. If it had gone through the cathedral, Splat, I would be right by your side in being Very Pissed Off.
Let's stop talking about the Minecraft server just being a game. Splat, you're a very creative person and I've no doubt that like me you see Minecraft as a platform for creativity, a voxel medium for expression. I'm very sorry we didn't fix your house perfectly. We did the best we could working from the material we had. Ironically, Havoc's video will probably help in restoring the soil below it to its former arrangement. EDIT: Splat posted. p.s. I'll admit that fighting the enderdragon was tremendous fun. We should go somewhere far, far, far away from anything anybody cares about and do it again some time. |
@Splat - Thanks for apologising, and again, we're sorry it happened in the first place.
EDIT: I'll admit to spawning a creeper too... In a fire, far away from the cathedral. And just the once 'cause it was funny to watch it mingle with all the other burning mobs. :P As for the dragon, we could delete the chunk where the ruins are meant to spawn and go fight it legitimately... I think that'd be more fun somehow. |
I've just made sure all of the traps I placed are removed.
|
Splat I'm just really disappointed that you'd target me.... We're supposed to be friends. I had nothing to do with the destruction of anything. I just happened to be on the server. I felt bad when the dragon destroyed the house. We all did.
|
Legitimate dragonslaying would be preferable, but we could only do it once.
|
but isn't there more than one dragon? I'd love to fight a dragon again :p Getting to lvl 56 was a bonus as well. But then we have to do it outside creative mode. Bring lots of health potions and bows and stuff :D
Also what was that egg for? .... bah Im so confused over what happened. Hey do we have a The End on the server? Is that the portal we saw? ... WEEOOOW .... ima go get a drink ._. |
Wow, lot has been posted.
First of all, let me say again that what happened last night was not intended to destroy anything, or grief anyone, or abuse powers or anything like that. It was just a couple of people having some fun which at some point got out of hand. It's not apparent in the first video I posted, but we had actually been there messing around for quite some time before I started recording. Natural creepers already took quite a big chunk out of the house at that point since we were messing around at night. The creepers you see being spawned at the start of the video were the first ones I spawned that night I think. As for your Splat's castle, we did walk trough it a bit to show Glitch around. I think a creeper exploded near the farm and that damage should have been repaired on the spot, but with all the laughter and humor going on I think it was just forgotten or planned to be fixed later. Sorry we left the doors open. As for the dragon, as it shows in the video, the second I see it tear up the grass in front of me I see how potentially destructive it can be and asked if there's anything we could do to despawn it. I'll be the first one to admit that spawning an Enderdragon that close to buildings was the worst idea I've had in quite some time and all things considered we were extremely lucky that the damage was contained to 'just' Splat's Enderhouse. I can understand that you're pissed about what happened and that we put your house back together a little differently, but we tried our best. I expected you to be pissed but the last thing I expected was a bunch of TNT under my door. In light of that we decided to de-op you for the time being until you had cooled down a bit, before you did anything else you would come to regret later. I hope this matter is resolved and we can all be friends. If you want any help rebuilding the house properly then just let me know. |
I talked a bit to Splat. he seems to be fine now ... Let's just let it cool for some time now... I don't think there is more to discuss.
Anyway... I wanted to make a suggestion if this is possible. You know that mod we had? Where we could buy animals? It would be nice if we had such a mod for super rare blocks like Mossy Bricks and cracked bricked, which like... let's face it. You have to be the lucky one finding the stronghold to get those. So like... it's be cool if we could have some mod where we could buy em with precious items. So that less fortunate people can have em as well o__o |
I was thinking it'd be cool to have some exchange system you could run with the ops where you can exchange common things for unobtainable things at a higher price. So if you give an op a stack of stone bricks they destroy it and give half a stack of cracked or mossy bricks. Give them a stack of cobble for 16 mossy cobble.
I was thinking something like: 4 stone bricks = 1 cracked stone brick. 4 stone bricks = 1 mossy stone brick. 4 stone bricks = 1 mossy cobble. 4 (or 2?) obsidian = 1 end stone. 1 gold/lapis/diamond block = 1 grass. 4 gold/lapis/diamond blocks = 1 mycelium (since you only need 1 piece to start it going). That way the blocks stay rare but are no longer unobtainable. The op destroys the blocks they were given 'cus they were being paid into the 'bank', which only the ops can access. Obviously it relies on there being an op on at the time but people are on and off a lot so sooner or later you'll bump into one. While I'd like to be able to access and use end stone, I think it should be kept expensive so people wanting to build houses and towers out if it really have to work for it (but saying that it took me ages to gather enough obsidian for my tower so demanding 4 times that amount is likely prohibitively expensive, so 2 is probably better. And since mycelium and grass automatically replicate infinitely once placed, I think it'd be fair to make them cost something valuable. |
It would be good if we didn't have to have ops in the process. The signs/accounts mod we had earlier would be better. Less effort for us, plus everyone gets their things instantly. But I do like the idea. Why not include sponge?
