Ah, ah, ah...I posted a 3 Doors Down video. My opinion has been re-validated.

That was just a load of sampling with a shitty beat.
Inform the mainstream that we have a new artist for them. |

I wish I could come along to the tune of Night Work, but I don't think my peepee could take the pressure.

Music is a form of art, and like any art form, talent is only one part of the equation. Arguably, it's the least important ingredient. I'm not going to go off on a tangent about "modern" music. Mainly because I don't think there is any such thing, really. When people talk about "modern" in the derogatory sense what they are really talking about is pop music, and pop music has always been 99.9 percent dreck. Do you think that anyone is going to remember a Britney Spears song twenty years from now? Or a Lady Gaga song? No. What about Creed? Will we look back on Creed in the future and remember them fondly? No. It isn't going to happen. That's because there is no substance. It's merely flashing lights meant to entertain those who either don't know any better, or just don't care. Those who don't know any better will be decrying the horrors of modern music in twenty years. And yes, they will still probably throw on Ace of Base's last album from time to time. Those who don't care will merely keep buying the next set of flashing lights. Some people are more discerning, however. Some people want music that isn't paint by color, or made by retards. We want something beautiful, something ugly, something simple, something complex, most importantly something honest. You may think that Celine Dion makes beautiful music, but what are her intentions? Why did she make it? Did she actually make it? Did it go through a focus group before it was released? It's important that the artist makes the art for themselves. |
I don't really like Creed or Lady Gaga, but whatever. Yeah I think a lot of them are sellouts, but at least they are making a business. They are making music for the majority of the people, and getting rich off it, so they know what they're doing. TV on the Radio is basically becoming mainstream. I like Bjork's music. And seriously Beyonce has a beautiful voice. I like a lot of indie or underground kinds of music mostly, but I don't think people should hate mainstream artists because they think their message isn't deep enough.

Also, I don't deny that these people use their instruments well, that they have talent, or that they have business savvy. I merely object to art being created for the purpose of money, and not for the sake of the art. It's okay to make money off of art. That's fine. But if your only intention is to make a salable product then you are ultimately going to make some shitty music. |
Forgive me if I'm out of order but this new music has no soul
It may be good for making money, but sadly that is not my goal Integrity and honesty are words that you don't understand But you're the best, it says so in the Penny Dreadful in your hand |
Fine. I guess I kind of wrote it wrong. I was just saying sometimes when bands are very popular, its for a reason; like what you mentioned with Radiohead. But some people only care about MONEY. I guess I'm saying I can't blame them, because who doesn't like money. That's all. Also, you like to argue too much.

Ok that's true. I just wanted to stand up for myself, so people here wouldn't think I'm a pansy.
This is one of my favorite songs. The lyrics are brilliant. |
LICK MY GOOCH!!!! EDIT: I have posted mindlessly without reading the previous coments...forgive me. OANST is right though, it isn't that their lyrics are shallow, it's that they are ridiculously generic, sadly there is a lot of bands out there that are kept in the shadows due to the marketing fucktards by the name of Disney. I don't really think that is fair...this is the reason that I hate most mainstream artists, don't get me wrong...I will never say that they are shite due to the fact that they have more money than me, but it is the simple fact that talented artists remained unheard of because the media assume "Hey, everyone is a retarded simpleton, they'll eat whatever shit they are fed." Come on, when was the last time you heard a decnt metal track on generic radio....don't worry I'll wait... I have mates that automatically turn their nose up at what I choose to listen to, it doesn't bother me but what does is knowing that the large portion of the populice think the same way....I try to listen and get into what they're listening to, just to broaden my scope, but people with melted minds just think "Oww....oonga boonga...metal...bad...Bieber...gooooooooood!" If this doesn't make sence...it's because I'm slightly sleep deprived/drunk. TL/DR: Corparate cunts of the music indusrty....bad! |

fuck sake. am i the only one that got incredibly irritated by that? |
