My sister showed me a few episodes of Louie over the weekend. I was really impressed. Louis C.K. had a sitcom a year or two ago that was really generic and unfunny, bland even, but Louie is really good. It's not so much a comedy, although it can be really funny, but it's not so much a drama or a documentary either yet it's still all three and more. It was well written, realistic and just generally kind of a different viewing experience than what I'm used to in new shows these days. You should watch it. I went in girded to dislike it and call it crap, but it's just a really well done show.

The second season is some of the best television ever made, third season took a drop in quality from what I've seen of it.

I saw Looper on Friday, and loved it. The previews were a bit misleading, since Willis really isn't as prominent as they make it seem. Really great character driven story with some good action and a little humor thrown in.

Every time that little kids' face scrunched up I about fell out of my seat laughing. But, yeah. It was a really good movie. I recommend it.

About Louie. I don't know quite what to think about that show other than knowing that it's fantastic. It's the saddest, strangest, most depressing comedy I've ever seen. But like I said, it's fucking fantastic.

I've watched the first episode of Doctor Who introducing the Eleventh one. I think I don't want to watch the show anymore. Not with him.

OANST 10-08-2012 01:27 PM

I've seen a grand total of three Doctor Who episodes, spread across a few different incarnations of the Doctor. I absolutely hate that show. I think it's some of the worst television I have ever seen.

Varrok 10-08-2012 01:32 PM

You CAN'T say you hate that show until you see at least one episode with this one... you just cannot

OANST 10-08-2012 01:33 PM

Is it worse than the drek I've already seen?

Varrok 10-08-2012 01:34 PM

I believe it's the worst that I have ever seen, and I saw all the 4 previous seasons

OANST 10-08-2012 01:37 PM

Then I believe I'll pass.

Nepsotic 10-08-2012 01:43 PM

YOU CAN ALL SHUT UP RIGHT DOCTOR WHO IS STILL GOOD RITE?

It was never good.

Nepsotic 10-08-2012 01:45 PM

How can you not like this?

Sekto Springs 10-08-2012 01:48 PM

I haven't seen enough of Dr. Who to say I hate it, but what I have seen so far was certainly pretty terrible.

Cosmic concepts with a microscopic budget does not equate to good TV. It doesn't even have the kind of charm that usually comes with low budget sci-fi serials. Something about it seems really full of itself, I dunno. I feel like it's one of those things you have to be raised on to enjoy.

I do think the Weeping Angels are really clever and scary antagonists that were never used effectively. I heard that they were finally "killed" in a recent episode, despite Whoniverse canon stating that they are unkillable. If this is true, then there goes the only part of the show I liked.

OANST 10-08-2012 01:48 PM

The stills alone put a bad taste in my mouth.

Nepsotic 10-08-2012 01:57 PM

Alright OANST, please, this one time just put your hatred aside for one minute, and please, I ask you PLEASE watch these teeny tiny scenes.
PLEASE. I swear you won't regret it, I swear.

Well?

Varrok 10-08-2012 02:00 PM

I thought this episode was pretty average

MeechMunchie 10-08-2012 02:03 PM

I got bored halfway through, and I like Doctor Who.

It's a bit of an institution really, like afternoon tea or something. I'm sure the US has an equivalent show. Poland... can Polish people afford TVs?

Varrok 10-08-2012 02:06 PM

Polish people don't *buy* things. I thought everyone knew that

OANST 10-08-2012 02:09 PM

Can it be killed dead now?

Nepsotic 10-08-2012 02:10 PM

Did you watch them?

Can it be killed dead now?

Were the Simpsons killed when they started getting worse?

OANST 10-08-2012 02:13 PM

The Simpsons used to be good, though.

Varrok 10-08-2012 02:15 PM

So they had even more reasons to be killed. And were they?

Nepsotic 10-08-2012 02:17 PM

Are you saying those statues didn't scare the fuck out of you, OANST?

OddjobAbe 10-08-2012 02:20 PM

I still like the old Dr. Whos, because I remember some of them. They aren't really that good, but the shitty low-budget effects and idealised memories of watching it as a child make it bearable.

OANST 10-08-2012 02:20 PM

I'm saying Dr. Who is a terrible show.

I felt totally indifferent watching that episode. I can't believe anyone could feel otherwise

A paradox was created and the universe sort of collapsed on itself, resolving to a version of history without the Angels in that particular place and time, and rendering it inaccessible to the TARDIS.

That wasn't all the Angels in the universe, though, and there was at least one survivor who fucked shit up.

Phylum 10-08-2012 03:42 PM

The last 1.5 seasons have been really rubbish, but I still watch them when they're on. They give me something to talk to other angry nerds about.

Wings of Fire 10-08-2012 03:45 PM

I really like the newest doctor and I like this half season. Having not seen the previous season, I honestly don't see any problem people have with Amy Pond either.

The dinosaurs in space episode was terrible though. That was a horrendous immature shit-stain on an otherwise perfectly servicable five episodes. Good job this run also had the western episode and that recent weeping angels episode.

MeechMunchie 10-08-2012 03:54 PM

I liked the dinosaurs in space one because of Rory's dad. I love that guy.
