MeechMunchie 08-12-2012 11:31 AM

Well. Eight more 'til It Lives.

Laser 08-12-2012 11:32 AM

Fuck.

MeechMunchie 08-12-2012 12:12 PM

I won't go into how many times you'll have to defeat It Lives. I don't want to put you off.

Varrok 08-12-2012 12:25 PM

At this point you'll get used to him anyway

Strike Witch 08-13-2012 01:25 AM

Phantasy Star Online 2.

Or, kill things in space with cute girls.

Crashpunk 08-13-2012 03:32 AM

I've spent pretty much all of last week playing and learning the Minecraft Mod Tekkit. It's complex but damn it's fun. I can't go back to the plain old Minecraft now because Tekkit adds so much to the game.

Havoc 08-13-2012 03:35 AM

Same here, so fucking addicted to Tekkit now. So much to build, so much to do, so little time :(

Dynamithix 08-13-2012 04:14 AM

I bought Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective for the DS.

I'm now four chapters into the game and it's great fun. It's by the same people who made the Ace Attorney games I think. The animation of the characters is some of the best I've seen on the DS and I find the art style very cool. The characters themselves are pretty unique and funny too. 'Missile' the Pomeranian dog is the best character. I recommend this game if you like puzzles and a good plot.

Phylum 08-13-2012 04:24 AM

I finished the new Kingdom Hearts. The three boss run wasn't the end of the game, but the fifth consecutive boss was.

It's good fun. I recommend it. It lost pace a bit, but it really picks up towards the end. I wanted to finish it, which made the last few fights infuriatingly satisfying. I was a bit annoyed by how confusing the last phase of the final boss was and I felt unfairly killed by it the first ten times.

It's a good game. Go buy it, WoF.

Just in case anyone else has played it, what did you think of the Young Xehanort and time travel stuff? I don't really understand why that needed to happen. It just seemed like fluff between landing in the last world and the final sequence in The Castle that Never Was. The True Org XIII was a bit strange, too. How can Xehanort, Xemnas and Ansem Seeker of Darkness all be alive still? I was worried the story would get convoluted in this game and I feel like it did a bit. I'm still waiting eagerly for the next/final chapter.

Phylum plays Kingdom Hearts for the story. I just vomited in my mouth.

I started playing Darksiders again to prepare for the sequel. I forgot how much fun this game is. In fact, I think I like it better the second time around.

I don't often see people being nice about FFXII. Can I ask you how far you are into the game at the moment? I feel like I haven't given the game a proper chance and may be due to the fact that I haven't played very far into it.

This is one of those rare times where I bought a JRPG and haven't spoiled the crap out of the plot beforehand. I'm still very early on, but I went in knowing that a lot of the faults people have with it are things I love in JRPG's (sperg my teammates into spreadsheets of action/reaction? Yes PLEASE). The plot is supposed to get pretty wacky, but I love all the war of the roses inspired setpieces too much to take issue with any bizarre intricacies the Ivalice games make with the plot. It's Final Fantasy, if shit don't get stupid at some point they didn't make it right.
I've been on a big sweaty JRPG bender all summer, so my opinion is very biased, but you should give it another shot anyway. If only to see how right they got a lot of the gameplay.

I'm also playing Tiny Tower on my phone. Fuck this game. I'm playing it right now. Fuckers only people with low career goals get to live in MY building.

Wish I still owned that game, really good. Have the 2nd one pre ordered and everything.

Laser 08-13-2012 12:04 PM

I finished Darksiders a few weeks ago. I love how badass the ending was. Shame the boss fight was WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too easy.

Started playing Alan Wake for the first time. I like it. The combat takes a bit of getting used to though.

You must really like trees. 'Cause there's lots of trees, and not much else. In fact, I think not naming it "Trees: The Game" was sort of false advertising.

Its not trees...it is atmosphere :tard:

OANST 08-13-2012 12:30 PM

I actually thought the presentation in Alan Wake was top notch. It's just too bad they were only presenting trees.

Varrok 08-13-2012 12:50 PM

Do you have anything against trees? Trees are awesome.

OANST 08-13-2012 01:00 PM

I love trees. I played a whole game about them.

Laser 08-13-2012 01:53 PM

Speed Tree is my favourite middleware!

OANST 08-13-2012 02:01 PM

JG won't shut up about Need For Trees 3.

MeechMunchie 08-13-2012 03:14 PM

I'm playing Morrowind again, that has lots of trees. Live trees, dead trees, trees that grow in swamps... Also giant mushrooms.

I've installed a shitload of mods (148 at last count) so it looks all pretty. It crashes every twenty minutes for no reason... but hey, it's pretty. Like Supermodel Grand Prix.

Addendum to my previous post: the boss fights in Deus Ex: Human Revolution are bullshit and unfair and completely fly in the face of what the rest of the game tries to do.

Oh yeah, totally. The Developers actually apologized for them because they were so terrible.

But in case you're stuck

1. throw barrels
2. big machine gun
3. don't go to the limb clinic!
4. shoot stuff

1. Didn’t even think of that. I think I just scuttled around in cover while taking potshots.
2. I wondered why there were so many in that level. Ended up hitting her with a stun gun/combat rifle combo because the hint was she was weak to electricity.
3. I hope this makes sense before it’s too late.
4. Shit.

Phylum plays Kingdom Hearts for the story. I just vomited in my mouth.

I really feel a need to clarify this.

I play Kingdom Hearts because they're well designed, fun JRPGs. I have mixed feelings for the overarching story. It's by no means brilliant, but it's pacing pulls me through the games really well. The end of the second game in particular left me wanting to know what happened.

I really have to admit that the individual worlds in the newest game were bad by KH standards. It makes up for it by having the best gameplay in the series.

Hazel-Rah 08-14-2012 12:20 AM

MGS4 has trophies now, so mostly that. Also, Mortal Kombat 9 because I got it for $10 I haven't played MK since Ultimate 3 so it's been fun, I always play as Reptile with his Klassic costume 'cause he's my favorite and the new design is shit.

Wings of Fire 08-14-2012 12:31 AM

I play Kingdom Hearts for the story.

With the exception of 358/2 Days. I didn't play that. I watched an LP of it.

For the lack of story.

When you fight that fleshy guy, punch his face after he jumps down from a wall

4. Shit.

3. At some point after your second visit to Detroit, you'll be in Hengsha. You'll get a message to visit a LiMB clinic to get an upgrade to fix a "glitch". However, if you do so, the third boss fight will use the implant to shut down all your augmented abilities, making for a ridiculously hard fight.

4. Trust me, it's easy. Just take cover and shoot the obvious targets.

OANST 08-14-2012 10:40 AM

I just bought Darksiders 2. I haven't started it yet, but I'm excited to get going. I really liked the first one.
