Lots of bad things in the performance. Generally ariy sound took a lot out of it for me. A couple of times she surged. Her high notes were poor. Her low notes cracked. I wish there was a recording of Georges Barrere playing that on his platinum flute. (The piece was writen for him to play on the first platinum flute hence the name). |
Yes, I remember reading about that a few years ago. The Complete Works of Edgard Varèse Volume 1 has a good performance of that on it, and so does the Decca Complete Works of Edgard Varèse. It might be worth listening to those if you haven't done already.
