Sorry, I was a little unsure of myself on what he was trying to say.

abe is now! 01-26-2008 09:24 AM

I don't mean the old conception of the Meetle. I mean the SEAGULL!!!!

Slaveless 01-26-2008 09:30 AM

I never even talked about the Meetle, I just mentioned it! I was only describing the page so you will know exactly what I am talking about!

AIN, I have a question for you; do you now know what a Sea Rex is?

Excuse me, I didn't read carefully.

If I asked what is a Sea Rex in Oddworld, it is because I don't know what is it!!!

OddYouko 01-26-2008 11:22 AM

Who came up with the Sea Rex? And what does it eat? Gabbits maybe?

Fuzzle Guy 01-26-2008 11:23 AM

It probably eats whatever it can swallow (and more). It may have been Gabbits though, hence it's extinction. If there's no food it dies.

Why have they become known as ‘Color Birds’? They should be Max Birds! I blame Hulaabeo!

Vote Max for New Bird Names :p

What is the foetus on the cover of the artbook meant to be?

AlienMagi 01-26-2008 12:13 PM

Err this is thread to ask questions right...
Well I have some questuons:
- why don't you allow better avatars then 8.0 kB?
- I heard stranger's wraith theme is coming. When?
- why is there no Mudokons in Stranger's wraith?

Thanx, AlienMagi

Fuzzle Guy 01-26-2008 12:22 PM

Grubbs are a branch of the Mudokon family. Not Mudokons as such but it's the closest thing to them. You may think it's a bit daft, but I think it's quite clever. You can go to one part of America and find a species of bear living in that area. Yet you can travel miles and find none of that particular species, yet that area is populated by a different type of bear.

Fuzzles seem to be a world wide creature, like Rats.

Vykker are sophisticated enough to travel from one area of Mudos to the other, so the presence of the Vykker is nothing special. Just like a someone away on bussiness really.

And the rest of your questions belong in the Forums Suggestions and Help forum.

This should be in Forum Suggestions and Help, AlienMagi.

Fair to say, but now that we’ve told you what a Sea Rex is, do you know what one is?

Since when did Sea Rexes become extinct?

This is awesome; it shall soon be done!

What is the foetus on the cover of the artbook meant to be?

They are the fœti of twin Mudokons! Xav managed to get Alf to explain more:
:

Q: What is the story or meaning behind the two little fetuses in the OW logo? -Xavier

Alf: The twin fetuses have long since been absorbed into Oddworld lore. The caliper and test-tube motif for the Oddworld logo was created for a brochure for the 1999 E3 convention. At the time, we were working on two games simultaneously; Munch's Oddysee and Hand of Odd. As time went on and the gears of corporate commerce kept turning, Hand of Odd faded away and Munch's Oddysee became the sole focus of production. In the end, Oddworld gave birth to a kicking and screaming Munch's Oddysee only. This is the history of the twin fetuses.

- I heard stranger's wraith theme is coming. When?

Theme for what? For the Oddworld Forums? Well, it was an idea, and there was some work done on it, but in the absense of anyone with the perfect combination of vBulletin template experience, graphic manipulation skills, time, and enthusiasm, the Stranger’s Wrath theme was put to rest several years ago.

- why is there no Mudokons in Stranger's wraith?

Lorne says they wanted to use a (virtually) completely new cast of characters (races) so that when writing the story they wouldn’t be tied down to the behaviour fans expected of the more familiar creatures like Mudokons. I’m not sure exactly how.

WHOA, HOLD IT! Mudokons evolved from birds. Grubbs evolved from fish. They’re no where near that closely related! Mudokons are probably more closely related to Clakkerz. :p

Fuzzle Guy 01-26-2008 02:05 PM

Oh dear. I'm still living in the past. Three years later and I'm still going by the rumour of Mudokons and Grubbs being related.

Maybe I was mistaking it with something else about the Sea-Rex. I've probably mixed it up with a T-Rex and somewhere in the back I've my head I thought the Oddworld one was extinct.

Question: when Abe stops extracting tears from Mudokons in SoulStorm Brewery, why do Mudokons become sick?

Wil 01-27-2008 03:58 AM

Good question! My guess is that with all the tears they shed, these Mudokons would quickly become dehydrated if they didn’t have liquid intake. This would be in the form of SoulStorm Brew.

I have always thought this. But I wasn't sure. Or another possibility is that they have drunk SoulStorm Brew and they have been punished with the tear tractor. And so they were already sick when they started being "extracted". But I prefer your opinion Max. Iy's more credible. Thank you :)!!!

Nate 01-27-2008 04:25 AM

I always figured that they, like many of the muds in the brewery, were already sick from brew before they were shoved into the Xtractors. Perhaps being ill makes Xtraction more efficient.

In fact. Or maybe they were forced to drink SoulStorm Brew before so they couldn't understand where they were going to go and so they couldn't rebel. And to have a better quality of tears as you told.

OddYouko 01-31-2008 03:05 PM

Does it ever speak of Sam in Munch's Oddysee? At the good ending of AE when you save all the Mudokons when the Weirdos say "We'll tell you all about Sam when you meet Munch" or something like that. =/

Bullet Magnet 01-31-2008 03:16 PM

The egg crates say "Sam's Labor Eggs" and have a cartoon of her on them.

That was actually an idea introduced to us in AE. ;) The Mudokons were given Brew bottles in their native habitats, and were given the chance to work for brew in the factories.

Do you mean when Phleg and Sligs gave Mudokons free bottles in the desert telling them that if they'd worked, they could drink SoulStorm Brew when they wanted?

Wil 02-01-2008 05:34 AM

Yes, the commercial application of Brew and other industrial products is to get natives and workers addicted to the product. Once they’re dependent on it, they have to work for the Magog Cartel or continue buying the product. It wasn’t just Phleg that did this. Addiction has been the tool of corporatism throughout the history of Oddworld and Earth.

abe is now! 02-03-2008 11:25 AM

Ok. New question: what can Glukkons do with Moolah? What do they buy? They don't wear rich clothes. They smoke, yes, but what do they do when they aren't in some factories with their Moolah?

Wil 02-03-2008 12:40 PM

Private dirigibles, expensive office furnishings, fancy clothing, membership in exclusive clubs, casinos, expensively rarities and collectables: anything to make themselves look as rich and successful as possible. This is the basis of their social status and the cornerstone of their culture.

Nate 02-03-2008 12:50 PM

More businesses, more employees. Anything to consolidate their power, make them richer and make mommy happy.

And, yes, the American spelling of 'mommy' was meant quite ironically.

Munch's Oddysee presentation

I remember that I was once watching a presentation of Munch's Oddysee by Lorne Lanning,he was playing the game, and he was making a funny sounds while playing , because there was still no sound in the game...someone else remeber on this? I was watching it online from a site which name I dont remember, it was very long ago...does anyone has this video?

Ok, so I have a new question: is it possible OWI thought that the Oddworld planet has been generated by Big Bang explosion?

Bullet Magnet 02-05-2008 10:00 AM

Having not delved into Oddworld cosmology, astronomy, geology, or indeed any of the sciences in regards to the study of the planet (which would answer quite a few queries) we assume that the planet of Oddworld was formed similarly to Earth, barring any irregularities. Which, might I add, is nothing to do with the Big Bang theory, which concerns the origin of the universe, not planetary development.

You want the nebula hypothesis.

abe is now! 02-05-2008 10:05 AM

Maybe Oddworld is Jupiter and we don't know it!!! It is enough big to seems it!

Xavier 02-05-2008 10:09 AM

I'm not sure Oddworld and Jupiter have the same amounts of moons...

plus Lorne stated that Oddworld was not really in the same universe as earth
