Abe not having any weapons was part of the appeal. If you gave him a weapon capable of killing enemies, then most - if not all - of the puzzles would have to be completely redesigned. Not to mention it would dramatically decrease the overall challenge of the game.

No thanks.

Nice work, unfortunately it makes me think of some unholy mash up between Oddworld and... nope, not even gonna mention it.

All the element renders for Feeco Depot are given in the Art book.

You could purchase it to view the full version.

Don't get too excited. It's kind of just a small image of the pieces. Nothing you can actually use.

JennyGenesis 04-14-2012 06:38 AM

I'm not sure if this has been discussed, but what about integration with Kinect?

Now, personally, I hate Kinect after being an unfortunate owner of it.

But think about it, I'm sure that having it work with Kinect could be simple, by simply performing the motions for gameplay, and gamespeak would simply use the microphone.

For such a complex game, I think the controls for Kinect would be surprisingly simple.

Nepsotic 04-14-2012 06:43 AM

but who likes the kinect? if an oddworld game is released on kinect, it would probably get a bad reputation, and only 3 to 6 year old kids would buy it.

Crashpunk 04-14-2012 06:45 AM

It wouldn't work. Oddworld is a 2.5D platformer not a 3D game. And nobody likes Kinect because it makes you look like a complete berk.

Also, damn you Wil for posting them pictures, you know how I feel about the ponies! :flames:

What would be the Kinect control for 'roll'?

Manco 04-14-2012 07:12 AM

A hand jive, of course.

To do the motion the crouch then the motion for walk.

Crashpunk 04-14-2012 08:09 AM

How would you possess a SoulStrom Fart? Do you have to literally fart then move your hands around it?

JennyGenesis 04-14-2012 08:15 AM

I wouldn't be able to beat the game anyway, I can't whistle.

(And yes I Know it's a stereotype for gay men)

Crashpunk 04-14-2012 08:16 AM

It is?

Hazz-JB 04-14-2012 08:23 AM

I don't think Kinect would work for alot of the medium/hard platform sections unless it was only used for gamespeak, and even then only some of it. I wouldn't want to have to whistle codes or shout "fart" at the screen or anything.

Wil 04-14-2012 01:41 PM

If we can get a whole generation of gamers shouting 'fart' at the screen, we can close the company early and take a blissful retirement: Mission Accomplished.

According to Ian Fleming, apparently. I hadn't heard of it from anyone/where else.

You need to add that to your bio at Just Add Water. You have them right?

MeechMunchie 04-15-2012 04:06 AM

One idea I liked for Kinect would be snapping your thumb and fingers together to skip a line of dialogue in a cutscene. That way, if you wanted to skip all of it, you'd be making the 'Yak yak yak' hand gesture.

JennyGenesis 04-15-2012 04:53 AM

I can't do that!

Given that for starters I hate Kinect, I can't snap my fingers, and I can't whistle, me playing it with Kinect would be a disaster.

He means bringing your fingers and thumbs together, not clicking.

SpAM_CAN 04-15-2012 01:45 PM

One thing, maybe we could have more interactivity with the Shrykull? I like the idea of controlling the lightning arcs of death.

Phylum 04-15-2012 04:33 PM

What if you made a mistake and couldn't progress?

Hazz-JB 04-15-2012 04:51 PM

You would remain as the shrykull until you zapped everything I suppose. Can you even aim at targets with Kinect? If not I doubt it would be possible to make a mistake, unless they made it a quick time event (lol). This whole conversation seems silly anyway, I can't imagine Abe HD is ever going to use Kinect, or PS Move for that matter.

Nate 04-15-2012 09:08 PM

What if you made a mistake and couldn't progress?

There was only one location where Shrykull power was needed to progress and the original game was pretty flexible about its usage at that point.
