It only stands out graphically, other than that, it seems pretty generic. But hey, it's a PS3 exclusive, it must be amazingly great.
|
No, it's a Naughty Dog game, so it must be amazingly great.
And I never said the fact that it's PS3 exclusive makes it automatically great. I just think it looks like a good game - atmosphere looks better than most games these days, and the combat system looks engaging. I'll probably end up getting it when it releases. |
I didn't mean you, I meant that I hate how so many Playstation fanboys keep saying that Uncharted, God of War and now Last of Us are all so amazing when they really aren't. If all of those games I mentioned would be multiplatform, they wouldn't get nearly as high reviews as they have right now.
|
To be honest the only Playstation exclusives I care about are Ratchet & Clank and the HD collections like Team Ico, Jak and Metal Gear. I do like Uncharted though, I played the first one not too long ago and it was pretty good.
|
I do kind of agree that PS exclusives are kind of overhyped, but that doesn't really mean they aren't great games. Sony wouldn't make them exclusives if they weren't.
But I don't see what's generic about Last of Us, other than the over-the-shoulder shooting, which it doesn't seem to rely on very heavily. It looks like it'll bring some new ideas to the table, maybe a blend of survival horror and action (with emphasis on "survival" -I'm looking at you, Capcom). |
Resistance as a franchise is a prime example of a game only getting attention for its exclusivity.
Last of Us looks amazing, makes me want a PS3. |
Dishonored looks great. You can possess a fish and play as it!
|
Last of Us looks perfectly fine.
Uncharted is also fine, regardless of what Yahtzee thinks, and the God of War franchise has dated a little in terms of gameplay novelty, but it's still just as fun as it ever was. There is absolutely no issue with playstation (action-adventure) exclusives. I say this as a person with a Wii and an 360. |
Meanwhile,

limbo 2: how low can you go
e: It isn’t actually a Limbo sequel. :

I'm interested.

I think God of War is a better example. It's a boring, samey series with really exceptionally shitty writing and it's always a huge deal when a new one is released, when it ends up being pretty much the exact same game. |
Resistance is an okay series. I really got into the first one because it was my first 7th gen game but R2 is definitely the best in the series. It was the most ambitious: 60 player compeitive multiplayer, 12 player class-based co-op, and a 300 foot sea monster boss! Fun series but nothing to write home about.
The Last of Us looks pretty awesome but Uncharted is way more my cup of tea. I also feel like Naughty Dog is squandering a great opportunity to bring back Jak and Daxter. Sony will probably be marketing the PS3 more towards a younger demograph once the PS4 is out next year so this would be a good time to reintroduce Jak. Save the new IP for the PS4, they could've had the Last of Us ready to go in 2014, a year into the system's life cycle like they've always done. And I'm sure Sony would be game for it, they seem really eager to cash-in on mascots that have been MIA since the PS3 launched. (Playstation Move Heroes, etc.) |

Damn. Well at least it looks pretty. |
I was meh as hell on this game at first but if it's being done by the people who made Vanquish it should be pretty sweet. Still totally would've preferred it bridging the gap between MGS2 and 4. I also don't like the idea of a game that takes place after MGS4 for some reason. The end of MGS4 just made me feel like a cycle was broken and there are too many untold stories in the current timeline as it is, don't pile brand new shit on yet! |
MGS4 was shit, so that cycle was already broken. I'll wait for the demo...
|
MGS4 was the second best movie I've ever played.
|
What was the best?

|
EDIT: Damn, I really need to start looking at page numbers.
|
MGS4 was one of the worst games I ever played. Like other have said, it would have served better as a movie. It was definitely a game for Metal Gear fans, but for anyone who hasn't played the other games, it was just boring.
Gameplay was pretty fun when it was there, though. I was meh as hell on this game at first but if it's being done by the people who made Vanquish it should be pretty sweet. :

So this is why the Payday devs and Valve are collaborating, it's a new Payday add-on but it's like a sort of a prequel to Left 4 Dead, happening in the same hospital.
e: fuck, doublepost. Sorry. |
EDIT: It's apparently not a actual prequal, Just DLC that's set in the same hospital.
|
Hence the 'sort of' a prequel. I mean, it still shows what happened in the hospital before the events of Left 4 Dead. But yeah, it isn't a true prequel or anything, I still hope they have some of the survivors as a cameo in it.

I played the beta some time last year and was impressed. Now Tiny and Big is available for Steam pre-order.
Trailer not on YouTube for some reason. |
Looking forward to more of the Walking Dead game episodes

OH Day 1 DLC for sure
