Phylum 10-14-2011 08:13 PM

I'm an idiot. All I needed was the XOR gate. The RS NOR became superfluous when I changed from buttons to levers.

Here's something. I don't have time to make anything better. The not gates on the bottom floor are only there so that the gate is closed when both switches are in the same state, so feel free to remove them.

Here is the save file.

Mediafire wouldn't let me just upload the whole folder, so you have to download all of the files and place them in %appdata%/.minecraft/saves/OWFGATE

Anything in a folder must be placed into a subfolder of the same name. The folder Data is empty, but you need a folder with that name so I made it to remind you.

EDIT: By the way, the wool is colour coded. I can't remember which colour was which, though. You should be able to work it out.

DarkHoodness 10-15-2011 02:24 PM

I'd +rep you again but it won't let me. :(

I've had a look though, and it looks fantastic - Although I'll have to make sure I understand how it works before I use it and work out a way of having the sticky pistons above and below rather than from the sides, but that should be easy.

Thanks so much. :)

Oh and FYI, if you want to share a save file in future (or anything else that has lots of files), it's best to get something like 7-zip, archive the entire save folder in a .zip or .rar file, then upload that somewhere. It simplifies things a lot. :)

Phylum 10-15-2011 03:40 PM

I normally would, but it was on my Mac and I didn't have time to figure out how to use the Archiving Utility.

I'm glad you like it. It's as simple as the lever inputs connecting to an XOR gate, then back out to the pistons through a not gate. The not gates are in place so that the gates are closed when both levers are in the same state, so these can be removed.

It's as simple as the lever jargon connecting to a technobabble, then back out to the pistons through a jargon, babble, long words jargon. The technojargon are in place so that the gates are closed when both levers are in the technobabble jargon, so these jargon technobabble science jargon.

I feel outclassed in this conversation :(

Wil 10-16-2011 08:33 AM

Gee, I can't figure out why this all sounds tremendously familiar.

Crashpunk 10-16-2011 01:47 PM

I've notist that you want me to do the walls of the Temple Splat. I'm still confused, Do you want all spaces to be filled in with coloured wool with a design?

Splat 10-16-2011 03:00 PM

Not at all! The walls are to be entirely yours to design. It's your decision where the windows go, so make the windows and fill in the rest with stone bricks (if you need cobble, you can take a few stacks from the chest in my tower).
So do what you want with the walls. I've just left blank frames for you to fill in as you wish. They're your part of the project, and when they're done we can discuss together what remains to be finished and who will do what.

Make windows of any size and shape you want; I've just made an outline for you to go inside; lines for you to colour inside, as it were. The extra space, fill in with stone bricks. If you want me to take a hand in the walls, say so, but I've done loads and we did say we'd do this together, so unless you want otherwise, they're yours to do.

DarkHoodness 10-16-2011 05:20 PM

An update: I've decided not to use Phylum's design since I can't get my head around it 'cause I'm too stupid. However:

@Phylum: Your efforts weren't in vain since you showed me that there's more than one way of doing this. Also I took onboard your suggestion of using a XOR gate instead - So that's what I've done. It's a lot more compact and does exactly what your design did without the need to alter the shape of my construction or the orientation of the pistons (even though I haven't really got a clue how a XOR gate works... lol. I just copied a design and it does just that). So thanks incredibly much. :)

Now all I need to do is replicate this 6 times. In Survival. Yay. Maybe I'll draw up some diagrams of each level so that people can help me.

I have some redstone and slime down in the abandoned mine if you need any.

My design is essentially the same as yours, but you used a different size of XOR gate. Our wires are just going in different directions.

I'm glad you've figured the gate out, though. That design seems to be better than mine given the dimensions.

That explains why you commented on that photo of me from April.

Will's explanation of XOR gates in that status of mine (that only some of you will be able to see) is what allowed me to design my version of the gate. Thanks, Will!

Crashpunk 10-17-2011 12:04 AM

@Darkhoodness I've been experimenting with pistons and redstone as well, I created this door system for my house in Exoddus Just wanting to show you and everyone how i made it. Its pretty simple, no loops or a cave full of redstone to make it work :tard:

0:17 Damn creeper almost runied the video :)

Havoc 10-17-2011 03:16 AM

Video is private?

Crashpunk 10-17-2011 05:56 AM

yeah sorry, it should be viewable now :)

DarkHoodness 10-17-2011 09:30 AM

The first of 6 planned gates is now complete, it can be found to the south-east, near the park.

Splat 10-17-2011 11:07 AM

Some textbook creeper slaying right there.

DarkHoodness 10-18-2011 04:24 PM

Today I finished laying down the foundations for the wall and gates - If people have any issues with the parts I haven't finished yet regarding location, now is the time to say so.

It's still in early stages, any visible holes or sand under the foundations will be filled in with sandstone eventually.

enchilado 10-18-2011 06:31 PM

I've built an EXP farm and enchantment room at a surface zombie dungeon, but it's an inconvenient walk out of town. An underground one in town would be better, but it was on the surface which I think is neat. The Enchantment Table is of course not yet made, but the ingredients are ready in a chest for when the update is released.

Enchantment room (shows recipe for Enchantment Table).

Havoc 10-19-2011 01:27 AM

You know, a lot of the challenge is taken from this game if we just create farms for absolutely everything. Or is that just me?

enchilado 10-19-2011 01:54 AM

Perhaps, but gaining enough EXP for a level 50 spell would be just about impossible without one.

I agree, but then we have a town to maintain.

Personally I spend all my time in the mine underneath the town to avoid complacency.

Crashpunk 10-20-2011 02:46 AM

@splat I've been working on creating the Golden Apple sprite with wool.
I've encounted a problem.

http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/985...1020104358.png

could we make the temple a little taller?

EDIT: Actually you've worked hard making the roof, How about making the Sprite one block away from the Temple, I know this defets the point of a Window but i don't wanna destroy the roof.

MeechMunchie 10-20-2011 09:50 AM

Make a windowbox. Make the window further out, then just build a bit more wall out to it.

Splat 10-20-2011 10:32 AM

Surely the easiest solution would be to redesign it a little smaller. We can look at redesigning the temple though. I'll have a look when I'm next on Minecraft. How many more blocks of room do you need?

Manco 10-20-2011 03:15 PM

Is there another floor above? If not, give it a wedged roof.

Splat 10-20-2011 03:46 PM

The roof is gonna have a garden on it, to contain the Golden Apple itself.

DarkHoodness 10-21-2011 06:46 AM

This may help:

http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1319204780

According to this, the roof needs to be at least 7 squares higher. Windows need to be 16 squares tall.

MeechMunchie 10-21-2011 08:57 AM

Dig out the wall and put some of the window underground :p

Manco 10-21-2011 11:50 AM

To the owner of this sign:

I broke the spawner. I’m sorry, I came at it from a cave and didn’t find your sign until it was too late. As consolation, I can direct you to 2 other spawners in the vicinity.

DarkHoodness 10-21-2011 12:27 PM

Okay - maybe I should put a sign next to it in future as well. I was using it to get wool from... Fortunately there's a spider spawner on the surface that can be covered over and used.

Didn't you see it was in a chamber that was closed off with doors, though?

There’s a whole bunch of doors down there, I assumed they were spawned as part of the abandoned mine.
