Yeah, let's assume JAW and OWI have no idea what they're doing and wouldn't be able to make it work. Great faith in their abilities.

Scrabaniac 03-31-2013 02:15 PM

Yeah that is a good idea actually

i hope they make it so you don't have the ability to chant until a certain point, to give abe a bit more development/progression.

I was going to say that, but then what about the Mudokons that need rescuing? Or maybe just make the first level an escape sequence.

STM 03-31-2013 03:15 PM

Just like to point out this is the Questions and Answers thread, not the New N Tasty speculation thread.

1. Will the other quintology protagonists have their own moons?

2. Are there any plans to explore other continents that isn't Mudos?

Phylum 03-31-2013 04:45 PM

1. Presumably yes, but I really hope they change their mind.

2. Probably, but not necessarily in the Quintology.

I'm pretty sure they will yeah. Unfortunately.

E: Fuck you Phylum, you so fast.

Fred The Fuzzle 04-01-2013 02:51 AM

Actually, is Fangus supposed to be set on Mudos or another continent?

Nate 04-01-2013 05:26 AM

Another continent.

Phylum 04-01-2013 05:36 AM

Wasn't it going to be set on future Earth at one point?

Nate 04-01-2013 05:39 AM

I don't think it was ever meant to be future Earth (you might be thinking of Citizen Siege), but there was a time when it was an unspecified 'Not Oddworld' location. Now that Lorne isn't managing a studio full of artists who want their own projects, it's definately set back on Oddworld.

Will there be any emotional mudokons in New 'n' Tasty?

The Mudokons will have more personality and individuality, but that won't manifest as a gameplay mechanic like in Abe's Exoddus.

I wonder if JAW/OWI have any plans to try and canonise your ability to chant pre-Big Face illumination in the remake?

We did have an idea, but it was too expensive and problematic to consider.

I think there's something about that in the rules.

1. Will the other quintology protagonists have their own moons?

Yes, and I will dance gleefully in circles around everyone who cries about it.

Bullet Magnet 04-01-2013 02:11 PM

What about protagonists without hands or feet?

What about protagonists without hands or feet?

How do you expect to control a hero without limbs?

Bullet Magnet 04-01-2013 02:31 PM

Had no trouble with Pacman.

Jbot123 04-01-2013 02:37 PM

It would be easy. You just wouldn't be able to pull levers.

Nepsotic 04-01-2013 02:45 PM

Wouldn't really be easy then, would it.

STM 04-01-2013 02:48 PM

Yes it would, parasitise a host.

Nepsotic 04-01-2013 02:56 PM

Like a mudokon?

Bullet Magnet 04-01-2013 04:03 PM

Or a steef.

STM 04-01-2013 04:17 PM

It would certainly be an interesting concept, a game revolving around some sort of endoparasitoid which invades a host and replaces their tissue with its own before taking control of the host's brain through the neurones or something. You could look at cordyceps for inspiration.

Jbot123 04-02-2013 03:52 AM

On the Oddworld wikia, it says that is what Squeek will do. Then again, the said that Paramites are related to Outlaws.

Phylum 04-02-2013 03:59 AM

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

The Oddworld wiki is almost as unreliable as Alf.

Manco 04-02-2013 10:53 AM

That’s probably because it cites Alf as a source.

JayDee 04-05-2013 07:15 AM

Alright, so me and STM were having an argu-debate about Rupturefarms. How much of the Rupturefarms you play in AO is actually inside? Cause my theory was that a proportion of the parts you play in AO are actually on those expansive catwalks outside the facility you see in the intro with only the later areas being inside the main facility. Answer and help an old married couple?

Bullet Magnet 04-05-2013 08:08 AM

You can usually see the sky when you're outside.

You can usually see the sky when you're outside.

You can usually see definite walls when you're inside. If you're outside and in a place as congested with machinery and obscured with pollutants as Rupturefarms seems to be, and then placed on a 2D axis with fixed perspective then you most likely wouldn't be able to see the sky.

Inside? Yes, walls and ceilings.

http://i1270.photobucket.com/albums/...ps15e7bf86.png
Outside? Maybe, just catwalks pipes and pillars like outside Rupturefarms.

Bullet Magnet 04-05-2013 02:10 PM

I think it's unlikely you'd get lighting like that outside, even at night.

MeechMunchie 04-05-2013 03:18 PM

Maybe it's smoggy around RuptureFarms.

Sidewinder Fang 04-05-2013 03:26 PM

I think Rupture Farms is just meant to be ridiculously huge, like everything else on Oddworld (and the planet itself, for that matter). Lots of cavernous spaces and whatnot.
