Nate 08-02-2012 11:22 PM

I was pleasantly surprised at how unironically enjoyable, uncheesy and high-quality fun it was.

I'm speaking about Disneyland Anaheim, mind you. I can't give any guarantees as to what the French might have done to the formula.

Bwahahahah. I used to be like you, boy. Back then, I thought I would find Disneyland cheesy, or that I would find some way to enjoy it ironically. How silly I was.

Well come on now. Disney Land really does give off a cheesy and kiddy feel doesn't it? And how I'm I suppose to know it's actually enjoyable? I have no personal experience because I haven't been before!

Wil 08-03-2012 02:41 AM

Then why are you criticising it?

That's why I'm enlightening you!

I wasn't actually criticising you given that, as I said, I used to think the same as you did.

Havoc 08-04-2012 01:23 AM

Well this is disturbing...

DarkHoodness 08-04-2012 01:44 AM

EDIT: On an un-related note, is it just me or do chunks in 1.3 load a lot slower than they used to?

Phylum 08-04-2012 02:25 AM

SP worlds are now run on a local MP server, so in spite of the optimisation they've done world loading will still be slower on lots of machines. Jeb has said there will be even more major performance enhancements in 1.4, but it's still expected to be more taxing than 1.2.

I wasn't criticising Disney Land. I was just saying that an 18 year old male like me wouldn't be considered the Target Audience of Disney Land. and obviously Nate thinks that's just a common belief which is wrong.

Anyway.

This is fun Gamemode Sjin from the Yogscast invented, an TheVoxelBox help make. it's PVP with elements from Capture the Flag and King of the Hill.

seeing Haat Films, Yogscast, CaptainSparklez and Inthelittlewood all on one server again is awesome. The only guy who's missing is Seananners.

STM 08-04-2012 02:36 AM

When I load large biomes on CSP, sometimes it'll only load one chunk, if I want more chunks to load I have to quit and re-enter the map a few times. Kinda weird.

Found a cool animation someone made to Disk 11 (the freaky one).

Mr. Bungle 08-19-2012 04:30 PM

Can anyone point in the right direction for getting mods for Minecraft? I've never modded this game before, and have no idea how to. Some advice would be nice.

Phylum 08-19-2012 06:25 PM

Goto your %appdata% folder and open the .minecraft folder. Navigate to the bin folder and open minecraft.jar with you favourite archiving utility. This may involve renaming it minecraft.zip. Now all you need to do is drag the class files from the mod in there. There are hundreds of tutorials that explain this better, including lots of poorly made, needlessly long videos.

It's also worth looking into Magic Launcher. Technic Launcher if you're interested in the mods it supports.

Hello everyone Im back! :D As I was watching that I was tempted to look behind me, not because of Herobrine but Slender!

Crashpunk 08-20-2012 09:54 PM

For those who pay attention to the Snapshots, In the latest one they added something called a Beacon Block I seriously cannot think of use for them apart from in adventure maps. :/

Also they are apparently adding the ability to dye amour and put any item into frames.

Phylum 08-20-2012 11:33 PM

What do you mean only in adventure maps? They're designed to be a way to show off all of the iron/gold/emerald/diamond you have and get buffs from it. Some of the abilities are fairly useful, although you can only keep them in a certain radius.

It's a pity it doesn't look like the range is big enough to be very useful.

enchilado 08-21-2012 12:47 AM

Yay, I helped picked the colours that are shown in that example of dyed armour.

Wil 08-21-2012 01:01 AM

Dear Mr enchilado/insider/enchider,

Am I right in thinking you can mix combinations of dyes to makes effectively millions of different colours? If so, can we expect this feature to spill over to wool?

Phylum 08-21-2012 02:02 AM

Yes, no.

There are 0xFFFFFF different armour colours. Mixing most of them will be painfully tedious and demand high quantities of dye.

Wool blocks won't have this feature because blocks need to store light data.

e: Dinnerbone mentioned somewhere that the lighting engine is being reworked. Because he's so awesome he may consider coloured blocks in that process. I'd personally be more interested in the possibility of coloured lights.

Also, he said that framed armour will retain its colour.

Wil 08-21-2012 02:06 AM

Man, blocks suck.

Phylum 08-21-2012 02:33 AM

The more I think about it the more ridiculous it seems for each block to remember how bright it is. It's the reason for the strange lighting bugs that are fixed by block updates.

The mob spawning is reliant on reading the light level of blocks, so I don't really know how viable it is to remove it.

Dear Mr enchilado/insider/enchider

I'm not an insider; Dinnerbone just hangs out on IRC and asked in there for people to name some nice colours. I suppose I do know him better than the vast majority of the Minecraft playerbase, but the channel does have a number of other regulars as well.

Ridg3 08-21-2012 03:25 AM

I hope you forwarded Phylum's lovely shade as an option?

Crashpunk 08-23-2012 11:25 AM

Minecraft Snapshot 12w34a and Minecraft at PAX

This is pretty cool. I won't spoil it here.

enchilado 08-25-2012 03:25 PM

Read that on another site a few days ago. Pretty sure it's all made up, unfortunately. Even that article says so.

Crashpunk 08-28-2012 02:56 AM

Looks like you can show off your kills and make them an decorative item soon.

I need a Creeper head on a fence post. >:P

Phylum 08-28-2012 03:26 AM

They need to be helmets, too.

Even better, they should be helmets that have unique enchantment options. Creeper healms could have a higher level for blast-resistance and the skeleton could enchant the helm with arrow infinity rather than the bow.

Splat 08-28-2012 12:31 PM

Maybe those are just skulls...

Phylum 08-29-2012 04:57 AM

That is also possible.

I really just want to see more rewards for fighting mobs. More reasons to go on adventures.

Havoc 08-29-2012 05:44 AM

More? They already drop random armor, ingots and stuff like that.

enchilado 08-29-2012 05:49 AM

Note that in after the next update they won't drop random armour, they'll have a change of dropping the armour they're wearing.

In the latest snapshot they also drop potatoes and carrots, but I think that may just be a temporary thing until there's some other way to obtain them.

Wil 08-29-2012 05:54 AM

Maybe from dungeons. Dinnerbone did say he'd like to see more things obtainable from dungeons only.

MeechMunchie 09-11-2012 03:09 PM

Played for the first time today. Built a dirt house, got mobbed, and proceeded to dig out the entire hill it stood on so mobs couldn't get up. Now iron mining in the cavern beneath my floating mud-fortress.

Long-term goal: Nice castle in the middle of a lake.

Havoc 09-11-2012 03:18 PM

Another day another soul.

Crashpunk 09-11-2012 03:24 PM

I would love to see you on the server soon Meech :D Also I love hearing about people's first experiences, plays and reactions to Minecraft.

Heck my own were on this very thread.

:

It looks pretty interesting. I'll give it a go.

Havoc 09-11-2012 03:35 PM

Minecraft has ruined my life! :(

Crashpunk 09-11-2012 03:46 PM

TF2 ruined mine.

Oh and this forum. :tard:

I'm joking.

hehe, you have you copy and paste this to see what I wrote, or did you just zoom in whilst holding ctrl and scrolling?

Varrok 09-12-2012 12:43 AM

Minecraft stole all my friends! And had sex with my dog! :(

Splat 09-12-2012 02:48 AM

Tekkit ruined my Minecraft!

DarkHoodness 09-12-2012 03:14 AM

You do realise that you can still play in Tekkit using only normal Minecraft items, don't you? All un-modded Minecraft mechanics still work as they've always done.
