I'm just not a fan of keyboard and mouse controls, I'd do a lot more PC gaming if I could figure out how to install my Xbox controller without spending money (and if I had a better PC). Though I use a laptop, I don't actually have a mouse. I'm glad I got Steam though, I was missing out on loads.
After a few problems, I got Limbo working, I wouldn't call it disturbing, but it's creepy as hell, are there any proper enemies in it? Save for that fucking spider which I cannot figure out how to get past. (Thats a lie, I'm just frightened to go near it) |
No. Nope. Nada. Negative.
Also you can't get your 360 controller to work AT ALL unless it is a wired USB one. |
I'm sure some USB receiver was made for the wireless controllers to.
|
EDIT: JG, you speedy piece of ass-butter (more imaginative than shit)
It is, well, it's wireless, but I have an adapter for charging. I'm sure there is a way to do it. I know that with a wireless one you have to buy this little piece of hardware for about 15 quid that you plug into the PC. I can't spare 15 quid, and as mines wired, shouldn't there be a driver knockin' about somewhere I can install? |
Jenny is right, I used the adapter for a couple of times, there is no way to play with wireless controler w/o that.
|
I had the core system (yeah remember when that was still being made) so I already had a wired controller, saved me £15 :)
|
Did you just plug it in and start playing, then? Because like I said I have a USB adapter. It did install a driver when I first plugged it in, Play and Charge kit, it was called, I just need to know how to activate it. It would make my life so much easier.
|
For Windows, it was a simply case of plug and play, however for my Mac, I had to go out of my way to download a driver.
|
Plug and play? It can't be, I had to install multiple drivers and it still won't work. Like I said, I have an adapter, though. That driver you installed on Mac, is there a Windows version?
|
I'm 99% sure that Microsoft would have a driver for Windows, seriously, use your head!
|
Everything I've been told by gamer friends to date has implied that you can literally tug a 360 controller out from the front of your Xbox and plug it into your PC, ready to use.
That said, I'm not sure I've ever been closer than six feet to an X360 in my life. |
Wait. You used a wired xbox controller and it wasn't plug in and play? Shit man your windows must be fucked up. I did it and it worked perfectly right out of the box.
Meech's friend isn't wrong either. |
A wired 360 controller has Windows drivers ready and waiting.
A wireless controller you have to buy a special adapter, like I did. |
I used a USB adapter, doesn't that let it act as a wired controller?

Here’s an image I borrowed from a search engine: http://i.imgur.com/Gq3Ju.jpg That doodad on the left is the adapter for wireless controllers. |
WARNING: LARGE IMAGES. Not sure what good warning people is going to do, but whatever. I did shrink them... slightly.

This looks like a dramatic "Preparing to avenge" shot, but I've actually just killed him myself because I wanted his bolt pistol. It's okay, he got another one when I Revived him. http://img845.imageshack.us/img845/5...2072100023.png "Sorry about this." *Electrocutes* "Your gun is much better. I'm glad I killed you." "I'm glad you killed me too." And while this looks like the obligatory buddy-movie "Which way?" shot, it's purely coincidental. http://img811.imageshack.us/img811/8...2072100020.png STM says we have something called "bromance". I told him that I had no heart, only a third testicle. He kept talking, though. I also arranged them into a sort of movie trailer, here > http://steamcommunity.com/id/ututut/...5880672504151/ |

Start Just Cause 2 last night, really fun game. It was difficult to play while drunk though.

I actually played a game after buying it on Steam whoo
I’ve spent most of today playing Dawn of War. I forgot how addictive RTS games are. |
For me, it was Retribution yesterday, which I found OK. It's supposed to be about tactics, but in most cases, it's either sending in the Venerated Dreadnaught with bolter equipped, or teleporting my Terminator squad with claws in the middle of a huge group of enemies. But I do like all the equipment I can give to my units.
I also played more of BoI. I actually made it to Mom this time, but at one point I found a cat item, which did give me nine lives, but it reduced my base health to one heart (it was a learning experience - I could've done without). Otherwise, I was the most badass dark cherub with holy water and a harlequin helper. |
Retribution is great...but I found the singleplayer a bit weird. The characters weren't as memorable and one, Cyrus, just didn't make sense since in my Chaos Rising game, Cyrus was corrupted and betrayed us. I know they aren't dependent on one another, but Relic could've made a new character instead of rehashing an old one.
|
Magicka reminds me a bit of that Harry Potter "MMO". Except it doesn't look as shitty.

I guess for me it's the Space Marine thing as a whole that is memorable, instead of individual characters. |
:
:
It's not necessary, though. Nowadays I can complete DoW1 in a couple of hours, just building endless Land Speeders and Assault Marines. The game doesn't really get hard until Winter Assault. It doesn't really get good until Dark Crusade, which was almost a proto-DoWII. |

I tired of RTs's because turtling just isn't a valid strategy against anything higher than mid level AI.
PvP is all about fast paced zerg rushes, and I just can't be fucked with that shit. |
Every time someone says "Zerg rush", I hear that little goblin noise Zerglings make.
