Wil's avatar got me curious. Were there other scrapped live ammo critters?
Only other one I know about is the Devil Vine.
What was the Devil Vine going to be used for? Like, what'd it do?
You fired a seed, it grew into an angry plant with a face, which grabbed nearby enemies and cocooned them up for food.
If I recall correctly, I included concept art in the Stranger's Wrath HD extras. |
nice telling us it was you mister show off Was it cut because it wasn't an animal or for some other unknown reason?
I assume there was either not enough room for it, they didn't like how it functioned while playing the game, or because a bolamite + fuzzle combination would give the same results so there was really no need.

I don't know how exactly it worked; there is only concept art. At that point you can pretty much change what it does to whatever you think will work in the game.
:
Alright, could someone tell me who you would play as in the Stranger's Wrath multiplayer beta?
:
I think he meant what the player models were, not who the forum members would play as if given the chance.

Wolvarks vs Outlaws was the usual setup. There was a 1 vs all mode where someone got picked to play a Steef though I think.
Wasn't there a grubb faction that never got implemented? I wish they had though, would have been great to see the grubb canon expanded upon, shed some light on Frayda or whatever her name was.
Yeah, because the online mode taught us loads about the other factions.
I'm glad it never got released. The beta was fun, but storyless online multiplayer is exactly the kind of thing I think Oddworld is above. |
That's enough, everyone.
No-one who is commenting has played SW multiplayer beta. Nothing is actually known about how it might have been. |
there were plans for multiplayer?! now i'm intrigued on how that would have worked out! player 1 is stranger, but what is player 2? outlaw? Coulda been a sort of 'cops and robbers' theme
There weren't any plans for multiplayer. Everyone who mentions them is joking.
sigh |
I wanna take my rep back, you did ruin everything! D=
I feel strangely proud that I knew it was bullshit all along. ^w^
A big, heaping, steamy, ooey, gooey, smelly, nutty-brown pile of puuuuuuure bullshit. I'm surprised how many people played along.
:
You're not going to get your rep back because your comment said nothing about ruining it. 'runining' it, maybe. |
boo, hiss, boo!
Talking of multiplayer, do you reckon New 'n' Tasty (if they decide to keep it from the original) will keep the same multiplayer format? I've always wanted to play Abe with a buddy at the same time, instead of waiting for them to die..
That's already been discussed. I don't see how it could work.
You mean, you don't see how can be done?
sorry |
New 'N' Tasty, as well as AO and AE, aren't really set up to work well as multiplayer games. They'd have to go out of their way to create an entirely new side game specifically for something like co-op for multiplayer to work outside of the wait for the other player to die dealie AO and AE have going on.
And fuck you, whoever thinks these games should be multiplayer, you're a retard. No offence intended but FUCK you so hard. I hate you. FUCK YOU
I don't know why I'm so angry about this. |
Whoa, calm the fuck down dude. If someone wants the games to be multiplayer let them want all they damn well please. Multiplayer on any game like AO and AE is going to be shit no matter what they do. I personally don't care because I never intend to play the games multiplayer with anyone unless they make an entirely separate side story or something made specifically for co op.
If any of the currently existing Oddworld games could have pulled off multiplayer of any sort, MO is it. SW would have had to have some kind of generic online mode. Every other game that has yet to be made has the potential for multiplayer, but it's pretty much entirely up to OWI and JAW whether or not they will be. |
