What I did see that was awful was Sweeney Todd. Far too much singing, and not even good music or singing at that. Ruined what could have been a great film.

Sweeney Todd was an excellent film! Considering it is a musical, it's no wonder it has a lot of singing... And I thought it was rather good singing to be honest. Depp and Bonham-Carter worked beautifully together.

I made Charlie give me a copy of the soundtrack ;)

I just saw My Neighbor Totoro a few hours ago, I can't believe I sat through a ninety minute movie without a single point of conflict and didn't get bored.

Disgruntled Intern 03-17-2009 01:45 AM

Cat Bus.

Nate 03-17-2009 02:19 AM

First thought: Disappointment. I had been hoping for a re-enactment of key scenes from Shortbus, by cats.

Second thought: Those Japanese animators have got it freaking easy. How many shots had absolutely no movement or change, apart from the rain?

Third thought: That was freaking awesome. Win!

OANST 03-17-2009 06:32 AM

I own 'My Neighbor Totoro' and have always loved it. One of my favorites.

Mac Sirloin 03-17-2009 03:56 PM

Just watched Constantine. It was okay. I like the Comics much better though, and Somehow Keanu Reeves came across as even more static than I thought possible.

Wil 03-21-2009 03:25 PM

Just saw episode 5 of Dollhouse. A couple of weeks ago I’d have called this show Dullhouse, but now it can’t be anything other than Rapehouse. So much rape.

OddjobAbe 03-22-2009 07:56 AM

I just watched DuckTales to see what my nephew's going on about. It is fairly well written for a children's cartoon.

I have also been watching Blackadder. Comedy fucking gold.

Wil 03-22-2009 11:23 AM

Did it help you to get the theme tune unstuck from your head?

AlexFili 03-22-2009 11:29 AM

Sweeney Todd was an excellent film, singing or no singing. Sin City is probably my favorite film. I watched Bourne Ultimatum last night. Too much camera wobble, but it was good.

As a matter of fact, yes. For some reason, actually hearing the theme does help. I have a bad feeling that it's going to fester and jump up at me when I least want it to and kick me in the knackers.

Disgruntled Intern 03-22-2009 01:57 PM

Just watched Baghead. It fucking blew. Low production values usually don't bother me at all, but this movie made my eyes and teeth hurt.

I mean, fuck.

What kills me even more is that it's being praised on IMDB as a great indie movie. Indie? Really? Renting something from fucking blockbuster kind of knocks it out of the indie category, I thought. Had I rented it from netflix or some other online source that carries obscure titles, sure. But not blockbuster.

Anonyman! 03-22-2009 05:57 PM

IMDB is bullshit 90% of the time.

mitsur 03-22-2009 06:27 PM

Schindler's List.

Kingsley and Nelson are the best actors ever.

Wings of Fire 03-22-2009 06:29 PM

I just watched Beauty and the Beast for the first time in ten years and cried at the end. I'm such a softy :D and I can't remember the last time I felt so good watching a movie.

OANST 03-23-2009 07:20 AM

I'll say nothing. That's best.

Hobo 03-23-2009 03:16 PM

Watchmen. I liked it.

Mac Sirloin 03-23-2009 06:07 PM

Saw Coraline. Enjoyed it quite a bit. Not for the kiddies, surprisingly.

Pilot 03-23-2009 07:28 PM

I just watched Kung-Pow for the second time. Then I came back here to write about it and found that Kastere already put the most relevant quote from the movie into his signature.

Creepy.

:

Killing is wrong. And bad. There should be a new, stronger word for killing. Like badwrong, or badong. Yes. Killing is badong. From now on, I will stand for the opposite of killing. Gnodab.

Daxter King 03-23-2009 07:32 PM

Taken, good action movie, I liked it. Also saw most of the Shawshank Redemption, excellent movie.

Nate 03-28-2009 02:58 AM

Watchmen.

I have no idea what I thought of it.

AlexFili 03-28-2009 04:10 AM

Liam Neeson was kick-ass in Star Wars :D
I was quite impressed when I watched a trailer for the Death Note movie. It looks about a million times better than any other comic book adaptation.

Facsimile 03-28-2009 07:35 PM

In the last couple of weeks I have watched:
Watchmen - Really enjoyed, not as much as TDK though.
The Godfather - Wow. Marlon Brando is incredible. Can't wait to see the second.
The Last Temptation of Christ - Interesting take on the classic tale. Good stuff.
American History X - Only the second film I've seen Edward Norton in, but I think he's incredible. I both hated and was compelled by his character.
Rocky - Good to finally see what has been parodied so many times. In context, probably my favourite musical theme for a movie. I couldn't quite work out if Rocky was retarded or funny for a lot of the movie, but I liked him by the end.
Being John Malkovich - Weeeird. But cool! Didn't recognise Cameron Diaz for a while, and didn't recognise John Cusack until near the end when I was told. Very cool concept.

OANST 03-30-2009 07:55 AM

I saw a few films over the weekend.

Hamlet 2: The last act was the best part. Over all it was good, but not on par with Steve Coogan's previous efforts.

Beerfest: It was okay, I guess. Nothing special.

Edmond: Fucking fantastic. David Mamet always writes quality shit and William H. Macy was tremendous in it. I recommend.

Wings of Fire 03-30-2009 08:36 AM

I saw the whole of The Princess Bride a couple of days ago and I must say I am simply blown away. How anything can be that cheesy and still pull off being epic to the nth degree is unreasonable.

Yes, but it's intentionally cheesy.

Wings of Fire 03-30-2009 10:08 AM

The last thing I'd do in respect to the cheesiness factor of that movie would be complain about it.

Must read book next.

It's good. Do that.

Bullet Magnet 04-01-2009 05:10 AM

I just saw The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. I cried.

Facsimile 04-01-2009 04:39 PM

I really want to see that.
