The only thing related to Twilight I have seen is Vampires Suck.

Even that was bad.

The Land Before Time is a beloved classic.

The Land Before Time II through XIII are... not.

You were actually right. After watching and enjoying the first one, the rest seemed a bit hollow in comparison. Once I reached the fifth one, I just couldn't go on.

Moving on to the next of my pirated-stolen DVDs, I watched The Grey last night. It slightly reminded me of The Edge, except wolves instead of a bear. It was pretty good, but the animation of the wolves was a bit meh.

Tried to watched the Devil Within after it, but it looked like someone recorded it with their hole so I'm giving it a miss until I get a better quality one.

I'm going to ignore my friend's 'reviews' on The Woman in Black that consist of 'OMG SO SCARY', and ask you all before I watch it: is it worth watching?

The play and the BBC serial were good. If they can keep the feel of the story then it shouldn't be too bad.

There was a lot of hype about it before it came out, then after it was released, it dropped off the face of the earth and I never heard anything about it again. That's usually not a good sign. The trailers looked super meh. It's not like Daniel Radcliffe is an automatic mark of quality.

Did these friends of yours also think the same of "Paranormal Activity"? If so, I think you have your answer.

The first one is staggeringly different in tone, animation quality, and even color palette. It's also the only one in the bunch that doesn't have a thousand musical numbers about banal topics.

Once they make it to the Great Valley, the whole "dog-eat-dog" world aspect that makes prehistoric movies of any ilk even remotely interesting was gone, because the Great Valley is apparently some kind of predator-proof dino Eden. They had to keep thinking up ridiculous reasons for Littlepenis and his friends to leave the safety of home for there to be any amount of tension.

I actually think after the first five or six sequels, the quality improves ever so slightly. They tried to tie in some interesting (but also kind of stupid) notions of mysticism, religion, and even extra terrestrial life. These themes, however, were a bit too subtle for the dribbling toddlers that watch this shit, so I guess they threw it in for the parents. 500 movies later, they realized the obvious and just made it into a TV series, which I have not seen.

Wings of Fire 04-06-2012 08:44 AM

Any indication of the quality of The Woman In Black would be the fact it is adapted from a very good play, not that it stars Daniel fucking Radcliffe in a role he's five to ten years to young for.

Dynamithix 04-06-2012 11:55 AM

I've been meaning to check out They Live for a good while now because it's a Carpenter movie and I usually like his stuff. Anyways, I thought it was really good and now I know where Duke Nukem got some of his quotes, haha. Loved the soundtrack too.

I was aware of a play version, but I knew at this stage this was Hollywood wanking money because it was popular in a back street.

Yes, they did. One of them gave me a single disc containing all three PA movies on. I watched through all three without so much as a wince.

Very. I liked the old tone and atmosphere.

I also hate how the 'sharp tooth' are portrayed as benevolent parents.

ER

Fucking Tyrannosaurs.

Granted, they stay with their young. But no sane predator, at any age, would leave a fucking herbivore(s) sitting without adult protection.

I give up.

Typically whenever Hollywood touches anything, regardless of the quality of the source material, they manage to ruin it somehow. I used to think that was pessimistic, but now it's just accurate. Again, I can't say for sure how good it is as I haven't seen it, and it's impossible to judge a movie by it's trailer these days.

Then chances are you'll coast through Woman in Black without much provocation. I think Victorian horrors have loads of potential to be truly terrifying, especially if you incorporate the seedy dichotomy of manner and perversion that defined those times. Unfortunately, often the story amounts to little more than just "generic horror movie that happens to take place in Victorian times".

Mac Sirloin 04-09-2012 03:49 AM

The Wolfman is a good example of such. That movie was a piece of shit.

Sekto Springs 04-09-2012 09:34 AM

God, it was.
It had so many production problems. The whole thing was just a mess.

OANST 04-09-2012 10:50 AM

I didn't hate it for some reason. I'll probably never watch it again, but I didn't hate it.

Sekto Springs 04-09-2012 12:14 PM

I didn't hate it. I just thought it was boring and poorly edited, and the FX were pretty lackluster as well.

JennyGenesis 04-09-2012 02:59 PM

Repo Girl, the worst movie I have even seen.

And before that, Home Alone 4 was the worst movie I'd seen. Yes, Repo Girl is worse than Home Alone 4.

OANST 04-10-2012 07:05 AM

I watched Oldboy on Netflix the other day. It was interesting, but Netflix only had it dubbed in English, and the voices were so terrible that it just made the whole film seem silly. I honestly couldn't tell if it was good or not.

Nepsotic 04-10-2012 07:22 AM

Watched Kung Fu Panda 2 :tard: There is one sexy animated tiger in that film. seriously. Angelina Jolie, man, Wow. She even manages to make a tiger hot.

Wings of Fire 04-10-2012 07:23 AM

creepy

MeechMunchie 04-10-2012 07:29 AM

So is this guy a Havoc multi or what?

Nepsotic 04-10-2012 07:29 AM

I do know that. I knew that as soon as I'd thought it. But I don't care! :D she's fit

EDIT: MeechMunchie is a speedy shit

Manco 04-10-2012 07:33 AM

Man, I know this is a creepy thing to think but I just gotta tell the internet about it!

Nepsotic 04-10-2012 07:34 AM

I don't like suffering alone. So if i want to tell people, i'#ll tell the ones that have no idea of who i am or what I look like! now lets talk about films.

OddjobAbe 04-10-2012 07:39 AM

Angelina Jolie is not an attractive woman in any way shape or form. Her lips engulf the rest of her body, which reminds me of a cartoon alien with a sucker coming out of its head or something like that.

Nepsotic 04-10-2012 07:42 AM

Films. Oh yeah! Anchorman 2 has been announced!

OddjobAbe 04-10-2012 07:51 AM

Films. The Big Lebowski. Watched it for the first time yesterday. Was very good.

I am in full agreeemnt with you here.

OANST 04-10-2012 08:13 AM

Goddamn you, Havoc. Leave him alone.

I'd go further, I'd say she's genuinely scary to look at. She looks like some kind of preadatory amphibian. I get the feeling that she'd be perfectly ready eat me if I looked tasty enough.

OddjobAbe 04-10-2012 08:25 AM

That sounds like something else which might appeal to those slightly more fucked up than ourselves.

T-nex 04-10-2012 12:40 PM

So i watched Drive.... The soundtrack is amazing btw..

Film was kind of anti-climatic and uneventful, and I'm not sure it really had a point apart from telling the story of a guy fencing on a dangerous and anonymous life. I enjoyed it though. For what it was worth. ._. It was good.

does it have anything to do with repo man? because this film is genius

JennyGenesis 04-10-2012 01:26 PM

It's the sequel apparently.

scrabface 04-10-2012 01:29 PM

is it possible that you meant repo chick? couldn't find repo girl
