Edd, the Exoddus gate nearest the Spleef Arena is acting up. When you open it, one of the pistons doesn't move; only 3 of them do. Then when you close it, the stuck one opens, and then all four close.

I'm aware of this - All gates do this now since Redstone mechanics have changed in 1.0, it seems. But I'm not sure it's worth me playing around with them to make them work as it should considering we've started a new world and I also want to get Rupture Farms ready for filming.

The server seems to be kicking everyone out at random intervals, so watch out.

BTW, for those that aren't paying attention to the RF thread, There's some "art theft" going on. In a way.
Sure, Rupture Farms is OWI's creation, not mine. Representing Oddworld in other games isn't an original, exclusive idea, and I wouldn't mind if he was doing the same thing as me - Just did he have represent RF in Minecraft in exactly the same way that I'm doing it?! His looks like a cheap rip-off of what's on the OWF server! Surely there's more than one way of doing stuff? What was wrong with looking at AO's artwork and coming up with his own way of representing that in Minecraft? |
In days of yore, such "shameless ripping-offs" of other people's work were actually considered a tribute of sorts to the original author, even if he was really pointed out as the original source (Nahum Tate's rendition of "King Lear" comes to mind).
I'm not entirely sure, though, that this sudden whim of thought will bring you any comfort... Well, once you put something out there for everyone to view, you can't really do anything against this sort of thing. You could troll him in the messages with posting links to your own videos, with the date of their posting attached. |

Server has been updated to CraftBukkit build #1493 (Experimental Build). This should fix a whole host of issues. Also the new world now has it's own Nether. I'm not completely sure if the new world also has it's own 'End'. I'm still looking into that. |

All my coal in the new world to start with, a stack of melon slices, a stack of glass, a lot of cobble and several iron picks will do for now. Oh, and my sword lost all its enchantments, so you can enchant one for me. :) |

Maybe an entry building could be made around it to prevent this from happening again. Apparently a creeper attacked Crashpunk as he exited the portal.

Next time that happens BTW you can just fill the stargate up with dirt so the water goes away, remove the dirt and replace the sign in the following manner:
Line one: Terra Nova (Or whatever other name you want the gate to have.) Line two: Line three: Central (Name of the network the gate is on) Line four: Only ops can create a stargate (that is, it will only accept the above sign if it's placed by an op. Now don't go placing stargates around every corner because I will hate you all forever :P |
I was thinking it might be worth having one at the portal in the Old World near the Nether Fortress, though the discovery of the smaller fortress in the New World may make it obsolete. Still, I have my suspicions that there might also be a Stronghold near there.

5 minutes until the event tonight and the server keeps going down randomly - Maybe it's Bukkit or the server not being able to handle this many people on at once while we're all in different areas.
It's not been a problem before though, back in 1.8 when Exoddus was started. Weird. EDIT: In fact it's down now and not coming back up again by itself. |
DOUBLE POST: It's back up. Me and the others on the server now think we should postpone until 9pm GMT.
EDIT: And it went down again briefly after Buncible joined - He was in Terra Nova. Maybe Bukkit is unstable, or the server has trouble handling two worlds at once? |

It was actually really fun, but a little short and anti-climatic - Which was a shame 'cause I can tell whoever made it put a lot of effort into it. We ended up creating our own entertainment afterwards though. Here's the vid (skip to 14:00 if you want to see something funny):
I built a wooden tower in creative mode while waiting for people to show up, then we burned it down after the adventure with Max the Mug inside. >: ) Later, we had a few drinks at the tavern and Exodduss, and then we walked to Rupture Farms as a big group (rather than use the star gate, 'cause it stopped working). But yeah, the server didn't handle it very well, it crashed a bit and as I said above, the star gates stopped working. Also after one re-set it revoked everybody's OP powers, (this also sucks for me 'cause it won't be easy to continue working on RF until I get them back - Some of my plans are impossible without animal spawning or flying) and I think the current version of Bukkit isn't entirely stable. Still, it was a very fun evening. :) Thanks to those who showed up! :D |
