what i think would happen: first this guy is a bounty hunter for the Magog or whatever and helps out with that army of sligs or something, but then he finds out that the sligs will end up destroying or disrupting something close to him so he decides to try and stop that slig army or something....but i doubt thats close to the actual storyline |
Maybe hes hired by the Cartel to go after Abe and Munch for a Bounty but he realises thats wrong. Hmm what different perspective of Oddworld. the view of a possiable would be industrialist whome changed his ways.

I desperaetly hope the salamander-like creatures and orcs are not part of the game, they look really bad. The "hickens" look like they will be hilarious, I knew they would turn out to be something neat. The only part from the raw footage that caught my eye, was Steef rowing his boat. The water looked fantastic, the boat looked fantastic, and the lanscape looked fantastic. Once OWI gets the lighting and animation fine-tuned, the game will be comparible to the many other great looking next-gen games coming to Xbox. I need more screens!!

Now that I actually got to watch the oddworld footage and pay attention to it I noticed some cool new things.
As some people have said, Mudokons will be in the game, sligs (lots of sligs an army it looks like), those chicken mud type things, and many new low life creatures. Also it appears Vykkers in this are completely different from what I have seen today. In the story board actually in moving it shows Steef go into a western type tavern. And there is a Vykker who is actually washing out glasses. It appears the Vykker is actually a bartender at this type of tavern. Also I noticed a cg animation of an evolved type of slog with some different appendages on the head, with horns etc. Also I noticed in the rough gameplay footage (this was last year, and wasnt even fully running engine, just a rough cut for show to get a green light on the project) I noticed some great new water effects, as well as awesome reflections of buidlings and environment onto the water. I hope they also implement what I thought was realtime time of day change where the sun appeared to be setting in gameplay. Confirmed too is that Steef atleast starts off as a bounty hunter, and has a cross bow hidden. While also, he is shown in his true horse like gorrilla cross later in the game. Well I must say Im quite pleased with the prototype gameplay rough cut they showed, along with the awesome CG movie sequences shown throughout the oddworld segment. -Al |

Wow, I like what everyone's been saying - a Slig army with torches marching through the rain, a Mudokon town, the water effects... I still don't like the chickens' appearance, but I'm intrigued by Lorne saying we're not meant to like them. Is he referring more to their character or their cartoon appearance? And of course, it's good to hear that Lorne doesn't like the cartoon-iness of MO.
The new creatures people have been describing don't really spark anything in me - especially since MojoMan doesn't like them (:fuzwink:), but I can't wait to see for myself. Skunk bombs sound interesting...presumably, then, there are skunks on Oddworld, unless they're going to do what they did with Bear Traps and change the name when they think of something more creative. A presentation by the production team of MO did say the name was the last thing they chose for all the characters and objects. |

Well from what I saw it looked great, there to much stuff where I have no clue on whats going on it makes me crazy! Anyways, all the new characters that I saw looked great, heck even after seeing the chickens they weren't all to bad! The only thing I didn't like was thoughs Salamander looking things that were all screaming at the sky....they just reminded me of Croc. The thing with the horns, well that looked great and as if it could be a big challenge. Aside from that the CG scenes with the Mudokon village and the Slig army were also great. I'll try to post some of the images for here in a bit.

Anyways when I saw the river scene I noticed how impressive the new graphics actually are. It was also cool to see some mudokons moving barrels and fishing and walking on the bank of the river by the huts. Then also seeing Steef in his boat moving down the river. As for the Slig Army, that reminded me of a lord of the rings type scene. It was really cool, sligs with torches(lots and lots of sligs), and then snoozers and other industrial weapons too. Anyways I'll see if anyone actually has uploaded the vid somewhere. Edit: About the skunk bombs, maybe they are used to somehow against something Steef is hunting, maybe the smell is so horrible it could knock the victim uncousious. Or maybe it then leaves a scent that Steef can follow if he loses sight of the victim after he hits it with that projectile. I thought maybe the reason Steef is being chased, maybe the person chasing is a sheriff of the town steef has been collecting bounties in. And since bounty hunting is atleast illegal in our world, hes being chased down because hes regarded as a criminal also. Once again nice pictures too Sligslinger. Keep posting them up. |

Wow, fascinating - thanks SligSlinger! Don't worry about the poor quality, all of us who haven't seen it are lapping it up. Steef really does seem to have the ability to morph into other creatures. I wonder if they are all creatures in themselves or merely different forms of Steef. The rhino-shark looks really good, the blue Slog is okay, and the tortoise-hunter is just acceptable. I can't make out the blur. As for the salamanders, well, they make the hickens look good - and that's keeping in mind I hate the hickens. Is that the orc there? I can't see it to comment, but it looks as unoriginal as most of the rest.

I think it would be really funny if those chickens were country khanzumerz. That would be sort of ironic...
Many people seem like they are dissappointed in the design og this game, but in my opinion it LOOKS really cool (we don't know anything about story or gamplay really). Everything seems like it is going to be cool though. The only things I didn't like were those salamanders and the slog looking thing, they are kind of stupid. I hope Steef has four legs, instead of two. |
You do know guys that while you are waiting for the tape, (if someone is sending you one) you can go look back at Oddipus' post, and follow his instructions and click the link, and download the entire Show that was shown last night.
Just thought I would let you guys know, if you didnt read what he did post. I allready have downloaded it even though I taped it last night. I must say the quality is still good, especially for streaming media. And it should help you guys find out what you missed while you await your tapes if someone here has arranged to send you one. |

I also think the salamaders were just a tech demo, I doubt they'll be in the game. Oh yeah, about the FPS vew, it only happens when your using the crossbow (don't worry Oddworld is still very much third person). |
Yeah, I followed the link and downloaded. 80MB, man, my personal folder now contains over 330MB, most of which is devoted to Oddworld (only because I haven't transferred half the stuff from backed up copies). There's no videa, just sound (at least I can't see any video), and I can't start mid-track, only at the beginning. Which means if there's something after 28 minutes I wanna listen to, I gotta wait 28 minutes to get to it, heh. I've been transcribing all the Oddworld bits, but I eagerly await my 20th June present from Oddsville! :D

Nothing happened to ME. ME will most likely follow this game and when we do see ME, its going to be interesting to see Munch the way he was ment to be. After all Lorne wasn't satisfied with MO.

All they need to do is give the chair more moves and create a less annoying sound effect. Then we would have Abe (stealth), Munch (speed), Steef (strength). |

I tell you what, I'm looking forward to this game already. Steef looks like an awesome character; it will be nice to see on OW hero that could actually pass as... well, a hero. |
To add, the FPS is only for firing the crossbow so far. Everything else is third person like munch's oddysee was. Its in the form similar to the way Splinter cell you pull out a gun and it changes to the gun view, while the rest of splinter cell is all in third person for gameplay. And also how when link pulls out a bow and arrow to shoot, it goes into first person. So Im definately not worried about oddworld becoming a fps, I actually think that new element is really cool, and is very sensible especially since steef is a bounty hunter.
