Know what the second highest grossing movie is? Titanic.
Just sit and think about that for a while. |
:
That isn't to say that a lot of the people who went didn't like the film, but I wonder if they'd have seen it if so much hype hadn't been built around it. Hence my comparison to music in the charts. Same principle applies. It isn't the most liked, but the golden hand of the "higher powers" has seen fit to caress it for a short while. It's all ephemeral and fickle. :

Man, this guys all kinds of retarded.

I saw Skyfall a couple of days ago and loved it. It's on par with Casino Royale as my favourite Bond film. great action sequences, good plot and the villain was brilliant.
There is however one thing I don't understand about the Bond series. Is there an chronological order to the 007 story? because Skyfall to me feels like a prequel to the old ones and also a ending as well; It confuses me. I should add that I've only seen a few bond films (the oldest one being Goldeneye) so admittedly I don't know a lot of the story. And yes I consider that a spoiler |

I know, right? The story was one of the most cliched in recent memory.
EDIT: In other news, I watched the first episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic last night, just to see what all the buzz was about. ... well, that was um surprisingly good, actually. I like the uniqueness of the characters, art style and direction, and the writing is quite clever. I'd watch it more if I could find a decent site to stream it on. Also if I wasn't busy with other stuff. |
:
I'm watching a lot of The Venture Bros. lately, partially because I'm trying to emulate the 'Modern Johnny Quest' aesthetic in my drawrings and because it's just a really good show. There was a point where I loved it, then for some reason I spent like a year thinking it was really pretentious and terrible, and now I love it again. The Monarch is probably my favourite character. |
It's actually a decent show when you get past the bronies. Well, about as decent as a show directed towards little girls can get.
And I heard some of the people who worked on Powerpuff Girls worked on this is. You just gotta disconnect from the fans, but I know no matter what I say you'll hate it anyways so I'll just shut up. |
:
THIS? E: I've calmed down, now. Well, you know you can find all the episodes on youtube, right? Wow. Well, the fans aren't really that bad, you know. Seriously. Saperspark's (bane #2) reaction was undoubtedly the funniest. |
What are you talking about? I thought the show was good, why are you raging?
|
Some people are just never happy.
|
I wasn't raging! I was fangirl squealing. It may have come across as raging, but it wasn't.
The fandom is generally a good, thing, but there is a few knobheads in it, which make it seem bad, most of these knobheads have terrible grammar. |
Hey, my favourite brony is a tombstone too!
The video wasn't very funny though |
Well, "What's wrong with homeosexueltality?" has got to be quote of the year.
|
It's funny. Nepsotic tries to turn every conversation into a pony thread, but when someone actually likes the show, he just posts crappy YouTube vlogs.

![]() Wrong answer, dumbass! :

On topic, I finished the first season of American Horror Story, it was certainly interesting. Now onto Asylum! |

That being said, I've had a few friends who've said what you said in the post that kicked off this little exchange almost word for word and then realized they're basically just reading into something that their local sperglord told them about MLP and that the show really, REALLY isn't for them. So maybe upon closer scrutiny you'll see it differently and maybe not. I don't know since I'm not a mindreader and can't afford to be one with all my medical costs. Which reminds me of something completely unrelated, but here goes. Last night in my training course for my shitty call centre gig we started talking about Digital Cable packages available through the provider we're contracted to. Eventually the subject of adult movie channels arose and we all had a good chuckle at how we were supposed to describe the content of such channels to customers. Out of nowhere this dude who showed up in full home made platemail armour he uses for LARPing for Halloween started talking about how "WELL IT'S NOT LIKE ANY ONE WHO BUYS PAY-PER-VIEW PORN WATCHES IT PAST THE FIRST QUARTER UH HUH HUH RIGHT AM I RIGHT?" Sure enough fuckin' nobody wanted to even look at him, and then to make matters worse he blurted out "BUH WELL THAT'S JUST A STATISTIC I READ IN A MAGAZINE SOMEWHERE." And now he sits right beside me and fucking talks to himself all day and then forces his expertise (which extends as far as anyone else in the class) on people who don't need/want his help. I was ready to just pass him off as some nerdo but he really irritates me with his muttering and I'm worried he might challenge me to a duel. Since my shift is until 1AM usually I get up between 9 and noon, and Courage the Cowardly Dog is almost always on like 5 minutes after I wake up. I love the aesthetic of the side characters, especially the reporter with the gigantic teeth. And how everyone has spindly little stick limbs. And Freaky Fred. |

He puts on a suit of social armor composed of shit jokes and over explanations no one asked for and then dresses it in a lumpy tuxedo of pseudo Seinfeldian presentation, thus nobody finds him interesting or funny. And that LARPin' thing is not in any way a joke, he literally showed up in like 70 pounds of steel armour and clanked around the centre half the night until he got tired and had to spend like half an hour slowly deconstructing it in 'class'.
I feel bad for him though. I mean, clearly he's been a giant dork for quite a long time (he has business cards that say 'Digital Artist/Swordfighter' dated 2007) but his mom died earlier in the year and other people in the course are just a little bit too openly venomous to his behavior than I'd like. He's annoying, but not excrutiatingly so. Just annoying enough to warrant reporting about it on a niche game forum. |
Sounds like someone I went to High School with, actually. Is he majorly tall and talkzzz innn a monotooonnne-ah voooiiice-ah like thissss-ah?
Seriously though people like that make me sad. Not because I'm embarrassed for them or anything, but because I know so many people will laugh at them behind their backs and they'll never have the slightest clue. At least he has his armor of -5 embarrassment to deflect any insults that will come his way. |
Sounds kind of like David Brent, but with the armour.

I finally managed to see Toy Story 3.
Man, what an emotional movie. The bit at the end with the furnace Really got to me. They treated the whole thing really well. |
Possibly the worst Pixar film since Cars 2?
|
Don't even go there, Nep.
|
Yeah what was wrong with Toy Story 3? I hate everything and even I liked it. I saw it for the first time on a plane, which was an interesting experience.
|
Oh, I might be thinking of Toy Story 2. Either way, one of them was terrible. Is it the third one with that big furry bear who seems good but turns out to be evil?
|
Nep, I'm warning you.
|
Nah, I think the second one was the god-awful one, not that the third one was good.
|
I think you have shit taste in films
|
I've not seen the third Toy Story, but I adored the second.
|
The third is the best of the trilogy. Easily. Might even my favourite Pixar movie.

Be careful not to cut yourself on that edge Nep.

Anyway, I like the old Pixar stuff, like Monster's Inc and Nemo, even Toy Story 1, but I don't care much for the recent stuff. |
Oh, man, and I thought *my* opinions are controversial

How could you forget that?
