scrabface 01-30-2013 03:46 AM

holy shit, that's a beauty. can I have it?

Dynamithix 01-30-2013 04:22 AM

You can buy one here.

Varrok 01-30-2013 04:31 AM

I'm bad at Japanese so I probably wouldn't understand the pictures

Manco 01-30-2013 09:48 AM

I need to buy more game art books. I have a couple, but there's at least a handful of games I own that must have some good concept art attached to them.

Ridg3 01-30-2013 10:31 AM

I would love one but I'll only get it if it has been translated.

Dynamithix 01-30-2013 11:13 AM

The interview in the book is translated and can be found online pretty easily. I haven't read it yet though.

scrabface 01-30-2013 11:29 AM

phew, pretty expensive. can I have yours instead?

Dynamithix 01-30-2013 11:33 AM

Nah.

scrabface 01-30-2013 11:41 AM

Ooh, I need to read. But I was on about the rest of the text, I don't want pretty pictures with some scribbles written beside, below, above or behind it.

There isn't really anything else other than the interview, the only small bits of text written next to the pictures are just the names of the enemy/area/weapon etc.

Ridg3 01-30-2013 01:44 PM

Is it English?

Dynamithix 01-30-2013 01:50 PM

Japanese.

Ridg3 01-30-2013 02:11 PM

All the same I think I'll buy it anyway because it would be the shit to have.

Dynamithix 01-30-2013 02:39 PM

It is most definitely the shit and I'm glad that I own it.

Crashpunk 01-31-2013 02:17 PM

The newest member of my Retro game collection. Including a game that I've been wanting to play for YEARS. (Apologies for the awful quality)

I'm I cool yet OANST?

Wings of Fire 01-31-2013 03:06 PM

I assume you've already played Metroid Prime 1 and 2 on the Wii, but you absolutely need Eternal Darkness and Paper Mario 2. Those four games, Sunshine and Wind Waker more than made the Gamecube worth it.

Phylum 01-31-2013 09:24 PM

Is the GC really retro?

Vyrien 02-01-2013 12:24 AM

Eternal Darkness is an incredibly underrated game, I can also recommend it.

Actually I haven't played Metroid Prime 1 or 2. I have played 3 though, which was amazing. I've been considering getting the Prime Trilogy on the Wii.

Oh and I've been wanting to play Paper Mario: TYD and Sunshine for years now so I will without a doubt get those. As for that Eternal Darkness, I'll try it. Why not? Since you lot seem to recommend it. Personally, I've never heard of it :)

Yes. For starters it came out in 2002, which is a long time ago. Plus they aren't made anymore.

Nepsotic 02-01-2013 01:27 PM

Okay, I know it's a free download but I couldn't resist.
http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.c...soundtrack.jpg

I paid a tenner for it. It came from the US and the postage was free, but I don't actually have it yet and it's supposed to be delivered next fucking month.

Oh well, You get 4 discs and a comic. If I'm not mistaken didn't you accidentally buy this, Crashpunk?

I thought GCs are quite easy to get, I know a number of retail places that still have a few of them.

I've haven't really seen a purple GC much though, since the one I have is the silver Limited Edition one that came with Windwaker and Ocarina of Time (with Master Quest whatever that is). The box is mainly used for keeping all the games in though, my favorite being Mario Kart Double Dash.

Dynamithix 02-05-2013 08:20 AM

I backed the Minecraft documentary project on Kickstarter way back in mid 2011 and apparently it was finished in late December and they sent my backer rewards two weeks ago (I guess the international shipments were dealt last) and it arrived today.

It is actually a pretty nice package and I like C418's music so I was glad that the CD had some bonus stuff from him. The Creeper wind-up toy's colour/design is a bit of a letdown, but it's still a nice little piece. I'm quite excited to watch the documentary on Friday!

Kinda. After I was told the soundtrack was free on the website, I cancelled my order.

I might order it again though. Looking at it, it does look really cool to have. Plus it comes with a TF2 item. (A box that can't be opened as of yet).

Depends on where you look I guess. In my experience, The more popular GC games like Wind Waker and Double Dash are relatively rare to find in shops. They are usually quite expensive too (£20 at least.)

Also what are the other Minecraft books Dynamithix? I assume they are books right?

Manco 02-09-2013 01:22 PM

Earlier today I ordered the collector’s edition of the History of Sonic.

I think there’s only going to be 1000 copies or something, all individually numbered.

Dynamithix 02-09-2013 01:37 PM

I don't get what's so special about that compared to the regular one, it just has a hardcover and a number on it. Or are there any extra pages? Anything extra at all?

Manco 02-09-2013 01:41 PM

No, it’s just the cover and the limited number.

Still, it’s like a few bucks more than the regular edition and I wasn’t even aware the book existed until today so I lucked out pretty hard.

holy camoly - tell us how it tastes. (with as much allegory as you can)

Nepsotic 02-09-2013 06:55 PM

They're the worst flavour I've ever eaten, but it doesn't matter because there's a pringle wearing a hat on the tube, if that isn't cool then I don't know what is.

Crashpunk 02-10-2013 04:00 AM

Yeah let's not talk about Pringles. As seen in the What's With Your Avatar? thread.

Nepsotic 02-10-2013 04:20 AM

But talking about them here isn't being offtopic.

E: Oops, yes it is, I thought this was the food thread.

Slog Bait 02-15-2013 08:57 PM

This totally doesn't count as cool stuff and I can't take a picture but I was digging through boxes and found the inflatable wings that came with my Spyro costume when I was in third grade. That was the best Halloween ever okay and I wore those wings months after because they made me feel like a badass.

E- Oh man I found the body to the costume too it's so flimsy ahahahaha

I know I'll never find the mask though because it was a flimsy plastic that broke from drying out or some shit. Same thing happened to my brother's Pikachu mask. Kids get the best costume choices.

Take a look at my Strandbeest.

This wasn't 3d printed, by the way. It's a kit that I bought online and then assembled:

Varrok 07-06-2013 06:00 AM

Oh god it's huge! Hope the owner of that field won't be mad.

EDIT: Oh, wait, that's just your carpet. Well, that's not as impressive.
Shouldn't you make a video of it walking instead of static shots?

Varrok 07-06-2013 07:18 AM

I meant the exact Nate's model. The one he has in his room

STM 07-06-2013 07:54 AM

I wonder if you could make a person-sized version of that and use it to get around.

Bullet Magnet 07-06-2013 09:01 AM

That is a miniature. The full size ones are varied and enormous.
