I have just finished dowloading Abe's Oddysee and Exoddus. For the first time ever, Exoddus has worked on computer that isn't an ME or a 98. I can rest easy now, knowing that the future of that gem is not all-gone for me.
The Oddboxx already proves itself to be a valuable purchase. |
People are saying Stranger runs pretty badly. Run it in 800x600 to get better results.

I hate to be a downer, but I just ran Stranger's Wrath and... this has got to be one of the worst ports I have ever played. And that's saying a lot.
First, there's only one graphics setting. You can change the resolution to Low, Medium, High, or Ultra. What does that even mean? Do they not realize that monitors have native resolutions and resolution limits? We have to know exactly what resolution we're choosing. And who knows if they're widescreen or not. Second, there's no mouse control in the menus. This one isn't so bad because a lot of ports don't have mouse control in menus. It just means you have to scroll through all the options with your keyboard, but it's still annoying and, after all this time, I thought they'd have something more suitable for PC. Third, the sound is messed up. The ambient/background music in the introduction cutscene is clearly audible while all the sound effects are buried underneath. It's impossible to hear what the characters say. It's also like this during gameplay, though it doesn't seem as bad. Finally, the game runs as if it's being played through an emulator. Crysis performs so much better, and Stranger is a 6 year old Xbox game. Come on... I can only hope Munch's Oddysee is better. I don't think I can play Stranger in its current state. |
Stranger's Wrath runs fine for me, as does Munch. They will probably patch it or hotfix it - it's only just been released and there will be lots of support.

Yeah, I wouldn't get too worried if Stranger is running badly - first, it was approved by OWI, and I doubt they'd accept a shitty port; and second, if lots of people are having difficulties they'll probably release a patch.
One thing you should do though is let the developers know if you are having problems. This will help them if they need to fix a problem for you. |
What problems are people having exactly? Seems to be there are these issues:
1. Strange resolution options which is fixed via config.txt 2. Graphic glitches caused by dated drivers or antique hardware? 3. People moaning that it runs slow.. likely antique hardware again? Edit: Oh there was something about the sound too but I didn't notice anything bad or strange going on there. And I agree not having proper mouse or keyboard support in the menus is annoying but not that bad since you only use the menu for like 2mins! |

Gosh darn it, I haven't tried MO yet (It's still loading), but Stranger is really laggy for me.
If my computer can run every Valve game with the highest graphics, I'd think it would allow me to play on the lowest graphics on a 2005 game... |

Stranger is fine for me, certainly seems to be a bad bug in MO though, go to the first spooce and hammer the enter key to keep getting tons of them, sooner or later the game will crash with a null pointer bug :( (I know its a null pointer cause its trying to access memory very close to zero)

I'll just say that I felt a little disappointed when the reports started coming in, but seeing their quick response has given me a lot of faith in them. Keep in mind as well that these ARE quite old games, plus they were literally JUST released - teething problems are to be expected. |
I will cry. I can not use steam:(. I wish some collector edition with abe and scrab figure, big artwork catalog and some green juice(brew). But its only digital:(. It could be so nice birthday(28).

Well, now I can play Stranger's Wrath if I play with the Low graphics. It's all fine and dandy, but I really want to play on Medium/High with no lag.
Also, the first two times I quit playing SW, it said "Game Application.exe not working.", but it seems like it fixed itself. Overall, I'm enjoying SW because it feels like I'm playing it for the first time again. :) |
Just a quick question for those who have downloaded the games: When exactly did you download them? Was it as soon as the Steam pages were up for them, or later?
I'm just wondering in case early downloaders had some problems with their installation. |

Munch runs fine except for some random crashes. Also the keyboard controls just don't work for me, I wonder if I could get my ps3 controller to work with it (I only have wireless xbox360 controllers so I can't connect them to my computer)
Stranger is another story though, whenever I try to launch it, it tells me that the game is currently unavailable, I tried to verify the integrity of game cache (which went well) and tried to defragment the cache files (which also went without a hassle) but it keeps on telling me that the game is not currently available... :( |

MO's crashed for me too. Twice. I haven't even made it out of Raisen's cave yet! The first room! It crashed when I walked around the edges and tried jumping up the wall, and then when I put the game on the second time, it crashed when I jumped and fell off the wooden platforms and crash landed on the ground below.

PS3 CONTROLLER driver for Windows 7! Hope people find this useful. It let's you use your PS3 controller as a controller for PC. I'm going to install it now and try it out. |
