i bought some little harnesses for our pet rats, once. they fucking hated it.

Yeah, I tried the harness thing with my old rats and they went bonkers. I found it was easier to just build up a level of trust and let them hang out in my hood/hoodie pocket and let them cruise on the ground with supervision.

of course not. they were for leads, so you could take them for walks and not have to worry about them running away. i just wanted to see what they'd do with them on.
