It's selling for £20 retail in my part of the world.

Sekto Springs 01-17-2010 03:19 PM

I'll try the usual venues.
I remember back when Bioshock was new, everyone was clammoring over the little collectible figlet you got with the special edition box-set. I almost bought one on eBay for an outrageous price. I'm glad I waited.

That was just a statue. It looked similar, but it was more or less a conversation piece/paperweight.
This thing actually has articulation, so it can be posed on your desk. They're releasing a whole line of them, Rosie, the Big Daddy player from Bioshock 2, Big Sister/Little Sister, and some random female splicer.

Sekto Springs 01-17-2010 04:16 PM

Awesome.
How's the paint job? Neca usually does passable work, but I'm so anal about the quality of my figures that I often find myself touching them up (or in some cases repainting them entirely).

It's alright. The only touch-up I can think of are the cracks in the view holes on his head, maybe darken them a bit, otherwise it's great.

AnGrY_GreeteR 01-17-2010 07:49 PM

I own it.

Josh 01-17-2010 10:35 PM

I missed him.

MeechMunchie 01-18-2010 08:33 AM

He's a bit like a Dark AiN.

Josh 01-18-2010 09:01 AM

Only not as attractive (According to WoF and our resident pervy admin)

Wings of Fire 01-18-2010 09:03 AM

Nobody is attractive as AIN!

MeechMunchie 01-18-2010 09:06 AM

Apart from AiN in a few years.

AnGrY_GreeteR 01-18-2010 09:10 AM

I grew out my hair so maybe those old menz will find me pleasing, that lurk the corners of Oddworld Forums in trench coats with no clothes under and a lolly.

Wings of Fire 01-18-2010 09:10 AM

You don't need to be old to do that, ask Josh.

OANST 01-19-2010 11:33 AM

I have just received a large amount of money from having done my taxes, and would like to buy something cool. Somebody recommend some stuff.

BUT THAT'S WHY YOU LOVE US!

EDIT: Plus, you live in the US, so it's not like that's an impossibility.

Stikfa.

They're cheap, easy to assemble, great for kids or adults, have an excellent level of articulation (for doing poses and such), office friendly if you'd like to use them on your desk and come in a variety of delicious colors.
Photobucket
These guys cost 2.99 or 3.99 each. If you want to draw faces on them or shirts or boobs, they're paint friendly.
However: They can be fragile when you're first putting them together, the connecting balls have snapped off exactly three times for me (two on the blue guy, one on the other blue guy, not shown.)( Luckily they come with extra hips and shoulders and any limb part can be swapped out for a broken one. They're not super fragile, but just be careful.

Next: G.I. Joe/ Marvel Legends/Frankenstikfa
Photobucket
I totally understand if you have no interest in spending your money on GI Joe or Marvel Legends, but they're pretty cheap (probably cheaper for you) and worth taking a gander at at least once. If you can spare like Eight or Nine Dollars, check one of the Cobra Henchmen out, otherwise meh.
Marvel Legends and DC Universe figures are adequate. Maybe worth looking at if you want. Maybe.

Terminator: Salvation shit.
Photobucket
The T-101, Marcus and John Connor are all less then 5$, which is the only justifiable reason to get them. Again, I'm assuming you're either going to set these up in a pose or something around your house or at your office. They're cheap and have adequate articulation.

Here's a quality fucking image:
Photobucket
The Storm trooper, Darth Vader and Iron Monger all make good desk toys. Newer storm troopers can be posed better and blah blah blah. Worth looking at because they're cheap and are a conversation piece. If you're the type who laughs at hilarious situations in which Children's toys are doing something totally wacky and not what they usually do, storm troopers are good because EVERYBODY recognizes them. The Iron monger thing is just awesome. I suggest you buy it because of how awesome it is. It's also a quality toy, which helps. If you actually care about this one, make sure it's the "Opening Cockpit" one, with the brighter paintjob, because the other mold (with...power punching action) is supposed to be worse.
Better Iron Monger picture:
Photobucket

And now the only things you'll actually be interested in:
Photobucket
Big Daddy and Isaac Clark. What can be said that hasn't already been said? They're great, affordable, hefty, poseable and awesome, awesome awesome.

Oh, and here's some Tech Decks of Hunter S. Thompson and The Dude.
Photobucket

Photobucket

And finally: Minimates.
Photobucket
Basically giant Lego men with swappable limbs and a cutesy design. They're a collectors item and not bad if you can spare 5$. I need to get more.

OANST 01-19-2010 12:22 PM

There were some cool things in there. Nothing that speaks to me all that much, though. The hunt continues.

Mac Sirloin 01-19-2010 12:59 PM

Are you looking for anything in particular? Kaiju stuff? Collectibles?

Laser 01-19-2010 01:00 PM

Where was the place where you could get all that cool steampunkish things?

Mac Sirloin 01-19-2010 01:04 PM

You mean this?

I might be getting a toy of Slash from Reboot and Magnet Man within the next little while. Otherwise, check this thing out:
Photobucket

It's an articulated super duper neato collectible robot thing. It's also 65$. I'm torn.

OddjobAbe 01-19-2010 01:05 PM

I forgot to mention that I have a ton of model trains, my most recent addition being the limited edition DP1 that cost £200. I am a sad fuck.

If this was in stock, I would strongly consider buying it.

Or prehaps this

Nate 01-19-2010 01:48 PM

Okay, everyone. This is the Cool Shit You Own thread, not the Cool Shit I Found On Google Image Search thread. Feel free to suggest things to OANST that you already own, otherwise let him create a seperate suggestions thread similar to the one he did pre-Christmas.

Also, insert oral sex joke here.

Well look somewhere else you amoral turd burglar. I'm pretty sure the link I conjured up was for a Canadian website anyway.

When I bought the GI Joe a few days ago I also saw a sale on Terminator: Salvation toys for 3.99 each. That's a fucking bargain right there.
Photobucket
So I got the T-600. He's bulky as fuck and comes with a big ass minigun. The minigun isn't attached to his hand (it actually goes on and off really, really well) but I like to think he just carries it everywhere because he's the fucking T-600 and not even an axel can stop his shitstorm.
Photobucket
Considering he's twice as large as either of the Human Treminator guys I have and has cost the least I can safely say he was worth it. I really need to clean my desk though, fuck is it some messy shit.

EDIT: It's the T-600. The T-700 is the one that Iron Monger is caressing on the previous page.

Takoto 01-20-2010 03:33 PM

Persona 4 Official Design Works and a bunch of animé figures is all.

Oh and a life-sized cardboard cut out of one of the trainers from a Pokémon game- it's a long story.

Strike Witch 01-20-2010 10:45 PM

Oh god, seriously?

And, ah right. Woops. I wrote the signature in a hurry.

Wings of Fire 01-21-2010 04:51 PM

I think I'm going to adopt this one as my new newb.

Mac Sirloin 01-21-2010 04:58 PM

I got the Gelgoog in today. He's missing a thumb on the hand that's supposed to hold his gun, so I'm just using that to help hold it on his back.
Photobucket
He's pretty well articulated, but nothing special. Worth getting rid of the shitty dusty Transformer I traded for him.
Photobucket
Still capable of some Dynamic and neat looking poses.Photobucket

So yeah, really fun and the Shield and Saber thingy are neat.

I love the little narratives you tell with your pictures.
I have a blue Stifka, I use it for stop motion.

As soon as I get some more Human scaled toys I plan on doing something more regularly, but I enjoy doing them. Good way to eat time up.

I want to start doing some stop motion, but I'd rather have a proper camera for it. Mine will work on an insurmountably shitty level but it would take about twice as long to do.

If you have a program like Stop Motion Pro and a working camera, the quality/frame rate of the camera itself becomes pretty irrelevant as the program does all the capturing work.

Here's a little stop-mo I did with blue clay some years back. My camera was of pretty poor quality, but the animation software picked up the rest of the slack.
