in New Zealand, since about a fortnight ago, since there are so many cases, swine flu is no longer under a quarantine basis, but a management one. it is quite seriously just a matter of time before we all get it here.

Holy shit I haven't looked at the numbers for a while, but when did the US surpass Mexico in the death count?

US: 329 deaths

Mexico: 140 deaths

Also, here in the Netherlands infections have gone from 90 to 273 in less then a month. And my school has official started putting up posters informing people how to slow down the virus.

It's not in the news anymore though, at least not over here. Any media attention going out to the flu in other countries?

Nah, but a few of my friends have it and aren't dying.

We get a news report every now and then saying how the hospitals aren't coping but the newspapers have gotten bored.

According to my doctor friends, New South Wales' hospitals have forgone swine flu diagnosis'. They have (unofficially) realised that everyone is going to get it eventually - we need to build a tolerance to it. I agree whole-heartedly. We need to build an immunity to it as a global community.

That being said - I think we should throw everything we have at the expectant mothers who have unfortunately contracted it.

And by 'throw' I mean money, intelligence, drugs, etc.

No more or less likely than any other seasonal flu. In fact, probably less likely, seeing as Swine Flu is considered fairly weak as flus go.

Hybridisation, however, very likely. Especially if more pigs get it.
