It better have scrabs and paramites in it.

I think that Peter Jackson should direct the new Oddworld movie.
|
OH! OH! I got it!
Remember the graphics in The Animatrix for Final Flight of the Osiris? Stunning. At least, that's how I remember it. Andy Jones directed that. That might be mighty fine, I might say. EDIT: Oops. Entirely changed my reply, making Esus' post fuzzy. What I said, not realizing what Esus pointed out, was that the movie would be better left to Lorne, not Jackson. |
Yeah, I think Super Munch was being sarcastic. :p
|
:
|
Well, yeah.
But I was pointing out the graphics style as one that might do justice to an Oddworld film. |

~DS~ |
and Raymond on the storyboards! he mastered that perfectly in OSW :p
|
HEY every one I,m new here I loved Oddworld since I was little when Abes Oddysee was out. Now I can finally chat about Oddworld with Oddworld fans.
(On Topic) I hope they don't use actors I would like a CG film because then the film would have more freedom. |
No, I doubt that they would use live actors, and for exactly the reason you mentioned: you have a lot more freedom working with a CG character.
Welcome to the forums! :) |
Welcome, crash kid!
Yeah, the only way I could see them using "live actors" would be to do it like Gollum was done in Lord of the Rings, with actual backgrounds behind the characters. But it would still be awkward, and not likely to happen, because of the way many creatures are built. |
It could very well happen, it depends on which studio they work with to make the game.
They'd never make the movie live action simply because Lorne and Sherry come from a CG background. In any case, they could never make human actors look like the characters we know and love. |
The way that Gollum was made, with the man in the sensor suit, I think looked very cool and turned out pretty nice.
I don't know, Nate. I think it would be kind of a good idea. |

Of course there is going to be actors, voice actors :)
|
I'm wondering if Lorne will have the time to do some voices in it :p
I wish we had more info on it |
:
|
Yesh, yesh!
Finally! I hope there'll be Abe and as many original voice actors as possible. Anyone have a hunch when it would approximately be released? How long does it usually take to make an animated movie? |
:
We have to get out of the "game quality is good for movie quality" mentality and realize that there are gonna have to be a large amount of changes if they want this ship to sail. I could name a few people who could do the voice of Abe... um, I just have to think of them first. But trust me: plug your nose, and get the tone right, and pretty much anyone can do Abe. Sorry for seeming a bit harsh, and no, I would never actually hit Xav with a pipe (maybe a piece of PVC...:p), but you guys need to stop and realize that a lot of the stuff they did in the games isn't gonna cut it here. This is the big leagues, and a lot of sacrefices are going to have to be made if this is going to succeed. :
|
I wasn't thinking of the main character, but perhaps a litle character on the side... a bit like a cameo you see :p
and stop hitting me :p |
I heard it's going to be a live-action flick starring Russell Crowe as Abe and Jack Black as Mullock the Glukkon.
[Seriously, though, I am very excited about this]. |
:
And one more thing, if somebody says "movie quality" one more time, I really will hit them with a lead pipe. It's just one individuals opinion, which has no relevance to anybody other then the person making the remark. Unless I have an idea of what your standards are, I don't know what you mean. That being said, of course there are numerous aspects in the games that can, and will most certainly be improved upon, so there's really no point in stating the obvious. Does anybody actually believe that they'd use their current technology without updating? Quit worrying. |
i hope oddworld movie gets finished, and is resonably popular, oddworld won't really be the same if they get really well known. Great find Xav.
|
I would be flaming right now, but I am far too happy to do that right now. Cheers to oddworld!
Now, who is directing it? I think Quentin Tarentino would do an excellent job, Kill Bill was absolutely stunning. The storyline, now that is goimng to be a mystery, maybe it will be what the fearietales will spwan from. But honestly, now Kimon's theory can become a reality, now that we have something to mumch on. :hungry: for news. Well, exquisite find Xav, kudos for your news bringing. :) |
One would assume that Lorne would be the director, ably assisted by his production design & storyboarding teams.
(I'm going to assume your Tarantino suggestion was a poor attempt at humour) |
Niceness! Thanks for the find, Xavier!
Do you guys think it will all be computerized? I'd actually rather it be on the Stranger, because I can connect to him better then Abe |
:
Do any of you agree with me or am I alone on this one? |
God you're stupid, Cullen.
|
:
|
All right, a simple 'That was sarcasm' would suffice. Cullen, the remark you quoted was a jest, i.e. not to be taken seriously.
|
For shame...

About Time
I remember coming here often to check out the latest Oddworldian news and banter all the time a few years back - although I never joined the forums at the time. For a while there, it seemed as though Oddworld had died out and along with it went the forums. However, I logged in today and heard of the news that Oddworld would be making a full length feature film and I am so damn overjoyed.
Oddworld is back and where it always belonged, in my opinion. Lorne is an excellent storyteller and the videogames, whilst great fun, have been restricting his creativity (just take a look at MO). Ever since Abe's Exoddus came out I've been wanting to see Oddworld on the big screen due to its memorable FMV moments. I can't wait. However, on the subject of hiring professional voice actors, that's all well and good, but there are some characters that must remain untouched. Abe could be voiced by no other, Director Phleg, the Vykkers... Lorne is a suprisingly good voice actor (putting to shame many other voice actors, video game and movie alike) and Oddworld just wouldn't be Oddworld without those memorable characters and their whacky voices. I see no reason why Lorne couldn't voice some major characters. He's not 'movie quality'? Pfft, I've heard and seen worse. The same goes for their cut scenes. Obviously they'll be improving themselves graphically and taking things up a few notches, but when you compare Oddworld game FMV's to various CGI Films, I'd say they're not far off the mark. Besides, without having to devote their efforts to gameplay and programming it's only logical that they're going to be doing their best to create some stunning visuals. I for one have no doubt Lorne and the rest of the crew at OWI will pull this off. And with flying colours too. |
Good Point...

|
Here's a point, what impact will this film have on the people to which oddworld is unheard? Naturally I expect every oddworld fan will see the film at least once when it comes out, but I wonder if this will encourage more people to become oddworldians!
|
Maybe if people watch the Film and if they like it they might buy the game and really really like it (like us all) Then there will be more Oddworld fans.
More Oddworld fans the better because if people like the film and the Oddworld film does well they may make more and game (YEYYYYYYYYYYY) |
I wonder what age it will be? It might be (in England) 12a which means under 12 accompanied by someone over 18 or it could be 15 which means you have to be 15 or over to watch. I was 13 in October so I can go to 12a and by the time the film will be probably be made I will be 14 maybe 15.
I imaging it will be a 12a but it might just be 15 but I doubt it will be. P.S. What Country are from and what is your Age rating for films and what rating do you think Oddworld would be. England. U=Everyone PG=Parental Guidance for Children 12a=under 12 must be accompanied by adult(over 18) 15=15 and Over 18=18 and Over |
With the amout of blood, torture and bad language I would say 12A. The Europe rating of the Abe games was 11+ if I rememberd.

I realy wish they could reach a very large public |
