I love your Actra re-design colorewd. Evehn the fireflies have been darkified. I like the evil sad sense of it, kudos!

You know, you may be able to market this as ANOTHER kind of book *hint* *hint* ;)

Dipstikk 10-30-2005 12:03 PM

Thanks. I'm coloring the flying Actra next, which should be fun. I also need to perfect the pattern on the back of her wings, so I'll need to draw her from the back.

I also have a few fake cover designs I want to try out.

Dancing Steef 10-31-2005 12:47 AM

Oooohh:cheer: I love the Actra-pic:p she's sooo cute:lol: and the piccy with Alf... wow I'm so imprest by yer talents. Lookin' forwad to see more:happy:

Leto 10-31-2005 12:57 PM

Sweet, cover designs. Try to be minimalistic when doing the title thingies as to show off your artwork for the cover.

The last time we used ducks, it turned out rather messy, Dipstikk. I strongly suggest the mother mole.

Oh Wow. They are so good! General Borsikov looks especially spiffy. :D

metroixer 11-05-2005 02:42 PM

General Borsikov equals probably the most badass glukkon ever.

used:) 11-05-2005 10:11 PM

Yes, I highly agree. He has that evil Count Dracula feel to him.

Dancing Steef 11-07-2005 12:13 AM

Ooohh those r so goooood! I like 'em both, especially Wendell :D cool muscular body... must be training a lot;)

Dipstikk 11-07-2005 11:02 PM

Thanks, Los Dudes and Dudettes.

I've redesigned the male Noctero. I figured, since they don't have the ability to fly, why not make them more adept at traversing land.

The sleek new Noctero can move as fast as a cheetah, can clumb up walls with the greatest of ease, and stop on a dime. The wings have become fins that they use as stabilizers during flight. The tail has become a giant fin, also used as a stabilizer.

Modeled after Antonias, Actra's imprisoned boyfriend. He tried to escape six months before Actra, and not only had his fin shot up, but was detained. His parole date is as of yet undecided but he's not staying there if Actra has anything to say about it!

LOOK AWAY ITS A GUY BUTT omfg

Leto 11-07-2005 11:13 PM

That one megabad tail you got thur. That looks like a much more realistic male Noctero; Well, realistic in my view of the whole Actra concept thang.

omg ghy bum lolzzor

Dancing Steef 11-08-2005 03:34 AM

whoa ey, he looks quite angry doens't he? ;) pretty thin as well... hehe:lol: I wanna see MORE:D:p

Salamander 11-08-2005 07:32 PM

i second that, i would know, after all i am one part mole.
*meow*

metroixer 11-09-2005 03:14 PM

^ Moles meow? Anyway I like that male noctero. I feel the pissed off feeling inside him. (Cause I just escaped from hell....No really never run around a whole block nonstop. I warn you.)

Dipstikk 11-09-2005 04:15 PM

I don't like to run much. It makes my hear go "BupbupbupbupBOOM!"

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...2/Maresoph.jpg

Maresoph is about 130 years old. He was an extremely zealous preacher back in the city of Nocturnia, and when the Noctero were taken and put to work, less people concentrated on religion and more on surviving. The old Noc took this personally, and became increasingly bitter as the days passed. He was especially angry at the children and teens, who had abandoned their religion completely.

When Actra escaped, he snapped. In his mind, Actra had abandoned them. So he made a deal with Judd the Glukkon (this issue would be called "Deal with the Devil"). Judd wanted to test a new type of machine that would "help" the less versitile males do more work (females can proform multiple jobs, since their wings allow them to get to the job sites quickly), and Maresoph wants to take his vengence on Actra.

So, Maresoph was chopped up by the Vykker scientists and placed on the head of the new cybernetics system. Maresoph planned to exact his deluded revenge the moment Actra arrived to try and save those thousands who he deemed unworthy of salvation.

The cords on the arms are elastic, but made of rubber. The thing on Maresoph's head is the link between his mind and the machine. Mare is heald up by cords.

I'll work on a picture of Maresoph himself later tonight.

Dancing Steef 11-10-2005 12:48 AM

woah kind like this pic Dip:p it's awesome. I like how you drew the machine many details isn't it? I myself couldn't have done better. the story's interesting too;) looking forward to see more of yer AMAZING art:)

Dipstikk 11-10-2005 12:58 AM

Thanks. Yeah, I really just improvised on a lot of it. I know next to nothing about machines.

Maresoph himself, without the mechanical augmentation comin' out his butt.

I don't care what Mom says. I like this character.

Leto 11-10-2005 05:23 PM

Shitpooples, I like that crazy contraption. And when I see'd the Maresoph picture, for some reason I thought of a rancid smell. (Oh yes, I went there.) I really don't know why, but he da kewl mon.

Nice design Dip! Maresoph looks really scary...:D I agree with ya, I like this character as well:p It's tha same with me own mom she doesn't like 'em OW-creatures at all, but she likes the design of them though. she says " Good designed, but terrible"...

that's jus' mommy though I myself still like yer piccies... alot;)

Dipstikk 11-14-2005 06:47 AM

Oh, she likes my stuff. In fact, nobody supports my work more than her.

She just thinks that the Noctero and the like are ugly. I mean, I can see that, but I would have thought she'd get it by now- Oddworld's not about asthetics.

(I think Stranger's Wrath forgot that as well...)

Dipstikk 11-18-2005 10:50 PM

At first, Alf isn't a very skilled fighter. The fact that he doesn't know how to do anything to help his friends in times of need frustrates him to no end, and at one point, to tears. But later on in the comic, Alf's will to fight becomes so strong that he suprises everyone with a very powerful blast of repressed psychic energy.

Later on, he trains with a very spiritual Mudokon and old friend named Abe, and is taught how to use the psychic powers that all Muds are born with to his and his friend's benifit.

I've done more, but I'm saving 'em. I need to make the upper arms a lot less bulky, so this isn't the final version.

Alf's list of learned psychic abilities:
-Possession
-Telekenesis
-Telepathy
-Psyonic blasts
-Psyonic shields
-Psychic waves (kind of like a shield that spreads out and knocks into things or enemies)

Also, his knowledge in tea-making lead to his discovery of Alf's Brand Boom Tea.

Yes, Boom Tea. It's so good... it's practically EXPLOSIVE!

Dipstikk 11-20-2005 12:36 AM

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1.../New_teeth.jpg
New tooth arrangement idea for Actra and the other Noctero. I kept the idea of the interlocking incisors, added four extra incisors and a pair of canine teeth on the lower jaw. They still have 20 curved back teeth in the same arrangement.

I kept thinking, "Come on, Matt. Buck teeth?" So I changed it.

Dancing Steef 11-21-2005 05:28 AM

Whoa! eh Dip that tooth arrangement you made is a really good one:D I myself thinks it's hard to do teeth, well I may have done some pics with "tooth arrangements" but in a diffrent way... stiil liking yer art Dip and btw Alf's lookin cool with his new powers loved Alf's Boom tea:p:lol:

Dipstikk 11-21-2005 11:47 AM

Thanks, Dancin' Feets.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1.../Marauders.jpg
Designs for the Marauders, an Actra's Oddysee equivilant to the Outlaws. These are a multi-species group of nomadic wanderers who enjoy nothing more than attacking poor travelers, killing them, stealing their stuff, then moving on and doing it all over again.

metroixer 11-21-2005 12:13 PM

Oh...I likey likey! One of those mauraders look like a slig.

Oddish 11-21-2005 01:14 PM

Oooh... you do good designes of creatures too, some cool ideas. I like the Stulter.

You've done alot BTW.

The Neergian 11-21-2005 06:28 PM

Very, very fine designs, I definately agree, this would make a very great game.

LoboDiabloLoneWolf 11-22-2005 02:34 AM

I personally like the Stark. But they're all excellent quality Dip, as always, keep it up! :D

Dancing Steef 11-22-2005 04:28 AM

Whahahaha:lol::lol: that Stulter made me laugh:D they're SOOO good! Go Dipstikk, go Dipstikk:cheer:...:goof:

Dipstikk 11-23-2005 12:59 AM

Thanks, guys! Glad you like 'em. I do too.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...er_smaller.jpg

Clem Kadiddlehopper (Yeah, I know. Mom gave me the idea...)
Species: Stulter, a very tall species who hunt tree-dwelling animals.
IQ- somewhere in the negitive numbers
Description: Dumb as a stump, but as tall as a tree. Understandably, since with someone that tall, it takes a while for blood to pump to their brain. Sports a stylish Canadian accent (or, on Oddworld, a Stulter accent).

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...bb_smaller.jpg

"Big" Burtha Hevernway
Species: Slusk, a species of 8-foot-long, tempermental, hermaphroditic molluscs.
Status: Definately the brains of the operation.
Personality: Often frustrated with the lack of compedence displayed by the members of the group, Burtha keeps herself sane by matching wits with everyone and stroking her ego.
Extra bits: Though she is technically a hermaphrodite, she is female-dominent in her personality (just as Humphrey and Irwin are male-dominent), so is therefore referred to as a "her."

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...rk_smaller.jpg

Jacques
Species: Stark, a race of four-legged, flightless waterfoul with a serrated beak.
Specializes in: breakdancing
Personality: A French speaking quadroped who feels he has to mediate everything between the members. He and Burtha are of about equal intelligence, and have a mutual respect for each other because of it. He's very light on his feet (being only 2 feet tall and having hollow bones), and his species are renound for their acrobatic skills.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...r4_smaller.jpg
An unnamed Merc. Something like Styrak, maybe. He looks like a styracosarus.

Update: The Merc's name is Bruno and belongs to a species called the Styraks. He's like a bear in the sense that he's quadropedal, but can manage on two legs as well. I'll have him up soon.

Dancing Steef 11-23-2005 01:22 AM

Oohh that last one is scary:fuzsad: otherwise they rox:p

LoboDiabloLoneWolf 11-23-2005 02:35 AM

Yeh that last one definitly has styrachosaur-esque features, with the head plate and the spikes, but I like it :D and I agree with Dancin' Steef, tis rather scary.

Oddish 11-23-2005 08:43 AM

Odd creatures indeed.

The Stulter's body reminds me of something...

metroixer 11-23-2005 09:31 AM

Give me more mon! If this was in a game I would pick it up in a heartbeat!

ANN NEELY 11-24-2005 04:53 PM

Holy crap, Dipstikk, you are an amazing artist!

What do you use for coloring? I'm getting sick of using my colored pencils....

Dipstikk 11-24-2005 06:10 PM

I use Photoshop CS to color my stuff. Thanks, Ambi.

The Mercenaries: Burtha, Clem, Jacques, and Bruno (coming soon)
Hired by Borsikov when he realized that Actra and the gang might be more than a match for his troops. These four prove to be more than a match when fighting Actra and the group, and easily overtake them (enter Afterworld).

Once ressurected, and sporting shiny new powers. Actra, Alf and Munch show the Mercs who's really top slog, sending them packing and crying to their mammas.

Of course, that's not the last time we hear of them. Certainly not.

Dancing Steef 11-28-2005 02:29 AM

As always Dip yer art Rox:D like the facts of the new species:p, we wants more see?

Dipstikk 12-05-2005 12:29 AM

Yeah, it's kind of big.

Clem's outfit. Can't have the big, yellow freak prancing around in his birthday suit, can we?
