I love all those names, makes you feel you are right inside the OWI brain...
oh man this IS exciting, and the logo's are cute too, I hope we will see them in their natural habitat soon! I have to update oddblog again ;) |
you have to ask an Administrator if you want to be sure, but why so much worry? Shell Man is nice and do contribute a lot to the community, give him a break.

bolamite is better, and makes more sense seen as a bola is a rope with weights on which is used to wrap around the legs of cattle, or a web in the case of the bolamite!!
|
...
Whoa, I didn't know I was causing such a scandal.. :)
Well, I haven't been registered before, I dropped in every once in a while to see what was going on in the world of Odd (I've been a fan since Abe's Oddysee) But the recent wave of information about the new game and the arrival of the March issue of Polygon convinced me to get more involved, plus it looked like people were having trouble finding the magazine so I figured I should share what I had. I'm currently studying animation (both 2D and 3D) in art school, and consider OWI to be a great place to work someday. I've already had visions of the Tokyo-esque cities Lorne once described as existing in Oddworld, maybe I'll end up designing them...... |
the "mite" part is just too much like para"mite"...
something with "bola" could be great, but I guess OWI allready made their choice ;) |
welcome to the community Shell Man, you are a great contributor, keep on the good work!
|
They could use Bolabug, if they didnt want mite because of paramite...
|
I prefer Bolamite over both A-Wrapanid and Bolabug. I also think Blueberry With Legs is such a better name than Thud Slug. ;)
There should be one that sends the enemy to sleep, too, judging from the X-Factor video. |
:
|
Yeah, there were sleeping darts above the 'Skunk bomb' production art in the X-Factor video. I realised that after I'd posted.
|

But they shouldn't have all the ammo be actual animals. I think they should atleast have a selection of ammo that are either darts or arrows.
|
You are maybe right... I'm maybe to exited about Live Ammo! ;)
I'm happily surprised with the Western Town, at first it seemed to be an unoriginal Wester Town, like wa can see dozens and dozens in western films, but now it appears to be on pilings at quite a high level above the ground, whitch is unique! |
Yeah!
You see, we started out being dissapointed with the environments/characters and etc. But Oddworld came through for us and satisfied us. Did you see that metallic blimp like thing? It's like a different version of Vykkers Labs 12. |
of cource I saw it! I just love the vehicules Silvio came up with.
I wonder if it will be a Vykkers vehicle or not, it doesn't seem compatible with VykkerLabs' docks. |
It definitely has a Vykkers design. I don't see why it should be compatable with one Vykkers Labs mother ship, though. The Vykkers Pods don't dock with the submarine, after all (lol, maybe I'm wrong, though). Whatever, this new vessel seems to me to be meant to dock with the town.
As an aside, I don't remember anyone being disappointed by the environments. |
:
|
Max what submarine are you talking about?
well the pods dock in the blimps that dock at Vykkerlabs |
Yeah I just baught my own issue of the magazine the other nite. Absolutely stunning pictures. I do believe that could be a new type of a Vykkers blimp. That background remindes me of Scrabania. Some of the facilities in these pictures remindes me of like a Gold Rush Mineing facility where it empties minerials out of mountains down big chutes into a river to be collected.
I especially like the photos on the left of Silvio Aebischer. These places look very Oddworldish that its giveing me goosebumps. If we are playing in enviorments with graghics like that and in 3D then my theory was right we will be playing the games to the styal that we all have been dreaming of. Those beautiful vistas we saw in AO and AE will be back and now we get to explore such envirorments. I am drooling thinking about this. The article is intresting. You think Lorne will redo the quintology or at least redo Munch to what they originally wanted? That is a very intresting article. |
:
I doubt Lorne will have OWI go back and work on redoing games already done in the Quintology, not before reaching the end, at least. Elements that weren't included in MO will probably just be incorporated into future games: like the Oktigi in this game... possibly. |
well, that explaines how the Gabbits died out so quickly.
|
hmmmm, I don't think it was a submarine... but who knows...
also, I don't like the idee of re-doing some games. new stuff guys... new stuff! PA, why did you showed us some things we allready saw? |
I got Polygon last night...finally. Anyway, right now I'm working on bringing you guys the transcript. It should be done by tommorow. This is a loooong article...to type anyway. I want to make sure it's accurate.
Later -oddguy :fuzcool: |
Its an airship not a Sub because it has smoke stacks.
|
there goes my Gabbit idea....
|
It doesn't look like a submarine, and I find it doubtful that creatures that love heights so much would go underwater.... Who knows, they are biologists and there's a lot of Marine Biology.
|
I don't see why the Vykkers can't go underwater. Vykkers Labs 12 was the first fully free-floating structure, before that they're facilities must have been on the ground (or tethered). I wouldn't say they love heights - more have a subconscious drive towards them. But then maybe that isn't a submarine. It looks like it could be one to me. The chimneys could be to release anything: a kind of aquatic Poop Chute.
At least, it doesn't look airborne to me. I'd always seen it as making sense, since ME is meant to be about what Munch does with the eggs - which require water, after all. |
Yeah they simply catch the marine life and bring it to their ships to study and expierment on them. Vykkers like hieghts like you said so they would go to the water just to gather specimens but they wouldn't live underwater.
But then again Oddworld is filled with surprises and what we think we know always prooves to be different. Im starting to understand the nature of Lannings world. And its not what it seems. Lannings world is much more in depth than what we think. There is a bunch of meaning in Oddworld we don't understand. |
