it is good, i can tell the colour of some things, but i'm still fuzzy on his skin colour, because i've seen him so many different colours i'm confused.

I have a strong suspicion that this game is held in oddworlds past. Shoot me if I'm wrong, but those salamanders looking like mudokons and (possibly) making whistling sounds to comunicate, and those squat frog things with those protruding anlers and huge mouth and looking strangely amphibiam-like remind me of gabbits, and that one at the top left? The jutting jaw, that... thing above it's mouth... Glukkon? And that one at the top right is looking just ugly enough to be a slig... OK, I was joking about the last one, but the res are good. :

I still haven't recieved the Christmas Card. I haven't asked Abe Babe if she'd recieved hers yet, so I wouldn't know about other Australians. Although, Seargentbig, living in WA as you are, have you recieved it (taking into account that you actually signed up for the thing)?
I've actually been anticipating the card. I think the last few days I've been the first to check the mail, where as Mum is usually the first. Alcar... |
Alcar, keep in mind that the FOMs are in an other list, and they will get their card a little later... I don't have mine either :fuzwink:
|
:
I personally don't think they are designed to be related, perhaps apart from the salamander creatures, because I know Oddworld wanted to go in a very different direction with differently evolved species. |

Claiming that Oddworld 4 takes place in the past is tricky: Glukkons deformed their bodies millennia ago in their age of alchemy, hence this game would take place before that. However, at that time and preceding it, they were very religious, dabbling in the occult and black magic, which would not fit their Hunter's appearance. The salamanders appear to have different paws to the Mudokons, and hence could not be associated with Abe's Moon. The Clakkerz clearly cannot, as they have wings (Odd knows how OWI plan to explain their ability to put on clothes - good luck with that), and being more bird like could represent an earlier form of the Mudokon-family/group, one that is just as evolved, but has not taken as much of a divergent evolution, as it were. Thinking along those lines, the salamanders would have followed an even more divergent evolution than the Mudokons, since their lack the beak-like mouth and feathers. It would be interesting to know whether their bones are hollow or not, the design of their skull, and where their nostrils are located, if they have them. Ah, not a bad amount of deep thought considering I'm sitting in Off-Games. |
I really hate when I'm ignorant of these things...So where is the ACTUAL christmas card then? Is it on the website?
|
you had to sing up here: http://www.oddworld.com/contact.html to get a paper card in your "real" mailbox (not the internet one)
|
I signed up for that and never really heard anymore word. Well, I'm in England so maybe its a bit slow getting here? I wonder if my joing up actually worked...
|
when did you signed up...
normally you get a confirm from Alf, when it was done and Alf somethimes also sends some news e-mail :fuzconf: |
hey drakan i got mine last week and i live in the Uk. maybe it might be the time u actually sign up for the fanclub like xavier said or something??

Woo hoo! More anticipation now! Alcar... |
I reckon this years card and last years card join up! If you put this years one on the bottom right of last years one then it seems like they join. The blood stains on the bottom right of last years one match the blood stains on the top right of this years one! And you can definately tell that some of the knots in the wood join!
|
intresting... I tried quickly but I didn't found anything
I will have to find more time to try it better (souds nice) |

Abe Babe... |
some of my friends allready got theirs one week ago... but I still wait for mine.
Anyway, I wonder if they are allready send :fuzconf: |
Well I got mine last week but unfortinately it was empty and had a stamp marked "Recived open and without contents", luckly my mom got to it first and E-mailed Alfie where he was kind enough to send me another one.

Most of the paintings you see in the Spectrum book are free handed paintings but were modefied digitally to go in the book. The ones for Oddworld are digital. There is a little caption underneath each picture that gives the title plus the size and what medium it was done in.
Its amazeing the painting that was on the page next to Oddworld was a painting done in I believe Acrylic and oil. Which in the fundementals of art you can't mix the two but as wild as the artist was in that painting he did. Which inspires me. Which is a prime example of an artistic Lisence. So pretty much the book is an example of all different paint mediums from water color to oil to acrylic and then digital. The card looks to me that originally the design was probabally done in oils or Acrylics or heck Prisma Color pencels but then taken and modified digitally to be printed on cards. But usually the process starts in the free hand conceptual stage useing the old fashioned method. An artist has to come up with the single design to be printed on thousands of cards. |
Can someone upload or put the link for the full picture from Spectrum of any Oddworld images in there, including the Hunter/Steef one.
Thanks. |
there was only one other and we all seen it before.
Grub man colour!!?? i would like to draw a pic, whats his frikkin colour, he's orange and blue right? someone confirm! |
You're the artist, SS, you're the one who originally coloured up your own screenshots from X-Factor. It surprises me you can't confirm it for yourself. I don't know, I just think he looks a brilliant character. Orange and blue seems to fit, but then so would a sandy brown.
|
blue+oragne seems to fit... and an overal brown look :fuzwink:
|
that picture up there ^ looks kinda blue-y grey with orange, so that'd be your best bet at the moment..
Can someone post a pic of the other years cards, I've forgotten them. :fuzblink: |

|
Thanks Xavier :)
Now I have good pics of both of them, I disagree about the continuation of the card idea, the wood looks too different, they're are unfinished holes that don't finish on the new one and the old one has that hinge type thing to the left which also doesn't continue down.. |
The wood is indeed very different, and that should really be evidence enough.
|
Still, last years card stands to prove that it was a glimpse of what OW4 is going to be.
There were other Christmas cards, and I've seen them floating around. Although, here is the previous one before last years :p http://www.oddworldforums.net/forums...&postid=138628 Alcar... |
can someone make out what is in the second frame (not the one with an elderling in it)?
