Absolutely. They're two different games, and I don't plan on abandoning AO in favor of a tasty upgrade. The original is timeless. I'll still get enjoyment out of that game 17 years from now.

Well you can get enjoyment out of both games, both play completely different and the levels on both games are slightly different.

Whoever at JAW designed the level for the Zulag 4 hub, you are absolute dicks! In AO it was already hard enough now you went and made it even more difficult!

I think the guys at JAW understand that we are nitpicking, they are not going to be heartbroken about it.

Again it's worth to put things into perspective. If the main complaints the people of this forum have for the game is that there is some slight shift in the mood of the game and some minor 4th wall breaking with in game adds then I think JAW did some amazing ass kicking game.

Seriously the game is almost perfection itself. I played it end to end and loved every part of it.

JAW has a major green light from me from the bottom of my heart to do exactly the same with Abe's Exoddus.

Agreed. Those paying attention will notice that the only things we're nitpicking on are in direct relation to the original game, which is what a 17 year old fanbase tends to do. And I'm sure JAW knows that.

Take away all those nitpicks from us and you're left with a game that is just awesome in every way. I don't think they could have made it any more perfect to be honest. NnT is an amazing achievement that JAW should be proud to have in their portfolio.

Exactly! That's what I meant by that, but going back and reading that post, I didn't make that too clear. I'm excited to have the choice of both. I'm sure there will be some times when I'll sit down and feel like playing AO and some times when I'll feel like firing up some New n Tasty!

Man, I really hope they reach their 250k goal soon so they can start work on an Exoddus remake!

This! I'm also assuming it won't take as long to make it either considering that Exoddus was just done on the same engine, as it was already done.
And was it 250k or 500k they needed? Cause if it's 250k, really after about 10,000 copies sold that should be it, right?

HOMINIX 08-07-2014 12:25 PM

To clarify, the goal is 250k copies sold, not $250k.
Apparently, 500k copies sold would fund a brand new game.

mlg man 08-07-2014 12:27 PM

Ohh whoops! My mistake. That makes a lot more sense XD

HOMINIX 08-07-2014 12:42 PM

No worries! I wish they could get to work that early, but I'm happy waiting until they have the funding for a proper remake!

Well, they might not have to make many adjustments gameplay-wise, sure, but all that modelling and texturing for the environments might take them significantly longer to do than the still backgrounds that made up a large portion of AE.

Not to mention they're not on any strict deadlines like they were last time, so they have plenty of time to put more effort into it and really make it shine.

Scrabaniac 08-07-2014 09:24 PM

They also need time to program new types of slig as well as new creatures and the ability to possess them, especially glukkons. Also changing the whistling to 'work' and 'stop it'.

OWI_Alex 08-07-2014 11:52 PM

Guys, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Nothing's happening with Exoddus just now and isn't likely to be until New 'n' Tasty sells. As much as Lorne wants to make Exoddus next (if that's what the fans want) there's a long, long way to go before that's a thing.

Xavier 08-08-2014 12:23 AM

True, you guys still need to do ports to other platforms and finish Alf's Escape. :p

After that I guess you will go back to work on JAW only products such as Gravity Crash. I remember Stew mentioned that you had quite some projects planned on the side.

Well, it will probably not be an other 10 years before we see an other Oddworld game. Especially if OWI plans some smaller projects on the side.

JennyGenesis 08-08-2014 03:23 AM

I demand Exoddus to me remade in 9 months, I mean cmon, you made AE in 9 months!!!!

And put Munch HD on PC.

Holy Sock 08-08-2014 02:06 PM

And to Vita. And bring Stranger to Wii U! We will never be satiated.

HOMINIX 08-08-2014 02:48 PM

Sounds fantastic. But do we trust other developers to port these? JAW's already busy enough porting New n Tasty to the rest of the platforms

Holy Sock 08-08-2014 09:53 PM

Not so sure. I believe Stew once said he regretted letting a third party port Munch Vita which is part of the reason it's taken so long to come out.

Crashpunk 08-11-2014 03:37 AM

Yeah, pretty much. That and all of the other ports.

Holy Sock 08-11-2014 04:28 AM

Well Lorne seems to be very happy with the guys doing the Stranger Mobile port. And in the past he was liking how the third party Stranger PS2 port was coming along. But maybe if Oddworld or JAW gets a lot bigger the idea of third party ports would be more of a consideration - if JAW were tackling a few Oddworld/non-Oddworld projects at a time.

HOMINIX 08-11-2014 09:28 AM

It's really a shame that Microsoft are cunts about their games on demand/arcade titles. Would've been some good exposure to have Munch HD and Stranger HD ports on the 360. Although I don't know how much it would cost to actually do the porting.
