Here are the scan results for the executable from the SligSuicide3.zip file:
https://www.virustotal.com/file/a593...is/1344150141/ http://virusscan.jotti.org/en-gb/sca...845e72bbc6500d Here are the scan results for the executable from the SligSuicide5.zip file: https://www.virustotal.com/file/3c84...is/1344149970/ http://virusscan.jotti.org/en-gb/sca...884ca373141166 I've read that Gamemaker games can sometimes cause false positives due to the way that the data is stored in a single file although I noticed that the exe in SligSuicide3.zip is reported by TrendMicro-HouseCall TROJ_GEN.F47V0801. It's possible that this is a false positive too as the Behavioral information for both is identical in Virus Total except for some random names when temporarily storing data. I ran the exe from the SligSuicide3.zip file on my PC after only doing a scan using jotti and I haven't seen any ill effects, ESET NOD32 has not found anything and Kapersky TDSSKiller did not find anything. It looks like the files may be fine however I'd like to hear more from others about this. EDIT: Here are the scan results for the executable from the SligSuicide.zip file: http://virusscan.jotti.org/en-gb/sca...298486a8de7cb5 https://www.virustotal.com/file/f623...is/1344152596/ Basically the virusbuster scanner on jotti and virustotal picks up Constructor.IDL!yZ9iWzwjEpc for this one, otherwise the results look about the same as the exe in the SligSuicide3.zip file. |
As I said, I've already played it, it's fine, nothing bad happened, why on God's Earth would Josh go out of his way to plant viruses in a game that he made? I know Josh pretty well, even if he wanted to he doesn't have the inclination!

Out of The Frying Pan...
So this morning I woke up and turned my laptop on, and everything was fine. I came home from a day out with mates and my laptop wouldn't boot up, everytime I got the, "operating system not found message." Not the first time my laptop has had this problem, but until it gets fixed progress on the game is unfortunately halted. Sorry, all.

If you can, try and download a copy Windows 98, I used 98 when this happened to me. It may be illegal however it's only considered so if the copy is kept for 24 hours, you don't need to install anything either. If you burn it to a disc with a program like CDBurnerXP and insert it into your computer and boot with it, you will have a menu. Should say something like Boot from Hard Drive or Boot from CD-ROM. Obviously select Boot from CD-ROM and then select Boot computer with/without CD-ROM support. Once you're at an MS-DOS prompt, you can type in FDISK and hit enter. Then enter again when you get the large disk message. Press 2 and hit enter to go to the Set Active Partition menu. From here you'll see all the partitions on your computer, find the one that best matches your computer's C drive size, type in the number it corresponds with on the list. It might ask you for the label, if it has none just hit enter, otherwise type it in and press enter. Now reset your computer without the cd inside and it *should* boot, otherwise, try using an OEM cd to run the repair function. |
That's close to what happened to my PC, it just wouldn't boot up. Turned out my hard drive was knackered and I had to buy a new one.

It was possible for example that Josh may have unknowingly spread a virus by using a cracked copy of Gamemaker. Given the info available though I now agree that the files should be fine ;)

Sorry for the Virus scare people. I can say now that I have not put any viruses in any of my games I make, nor do I plan to. I do this so that I may get better at something I enjoy, and give you guys something to have fun with. Not fuck up your day with viruses.

I have downloaded all of them but only the first one works with me. All the others it says it's corrupt.
But, the one I did play is very good. How did you get the game to be so smooth like that? And you said you were trying out a new engine, how can you make engines with game maker and put them in? |
:
|
Sure. lol.
|
Does GameMaker not support features like embedding it into a website? So people could just load the game in via that and not have to run an exe, like Flash or Unity do?
|
I don't think it does.
|
I believe it can do, as that's what they do on YoYoGames.. I'll have to look into it when this project gets up and running, once more.
|
Love this game so far, can't wait to see more Sliggy action. I'm working on some Unity3D things at the moment, I want one of them to be a 3D version of Prison:OtherSide. I'll let you know how it goes along.
|
There is a GM autoplay plugin for modern browsers, but I think the games need to be run through the YYG website. Game Maker Studio supports HTML5, but from what I hear those games need lightweight collision checking to run.

In case you ever want to try HTML5 game making, there's a cool game dev kit called Construct 2. It's very easy to use, just like Game Maker and The Games Factory/Multimedia Fusion
|
:
I've heard of it I think but can't be bothered to search through my memory to find it. :D :D |
This is for anyone who wants to make 2D games easily. Enjoy!

Updates shall start when I return. :) Till then enjoy what you have and send suggestions, all comments, bug reports, and criticism (constructive ofcourse) are welcome.

Slig Suicide: Suicide Harder
Hello again, all. It's been over 3 months without any form of update to this project, but due to my laptop being fixed at the start of this week, I have been able to retrieve the files from it and continue with this project.
So I got to work to atleast give you guys something.. Slig Suicide 0.3_1 Public Release + A brand new save system, that works.I was trying to find a way to save the game but also a way to reset the room when the game was loaded. The saving system works by writing string, and real values to .ini files. These are then read when you choose to 'continue' from the main screen. This means that many save files can be implemented, though only 1 is currently available. I have added credits solely for the purpose of giving all of you guys who have helped out so far, well... credit. Your feedback has been greatly appreciated, thank you. You can still get in the credits if you wanted to become a play tester. Download Here |

This is turning out to be quite the project. :) |
If only a single virus scanner reports something is wrong you can almost be certain its a false positive, most AV's are total junk :/
Besides writing a virus in game maker is prob almost impossible :s |
I can't believe after four months people are still going on about the false virus I'm regretting bringing it up in the first place.
|
Looking good Josh, I'm gonna have to keep trying at it because I rage quitted a few times over the laser level. XD

Slig Suicide: A Good Day To Suicide
Alright guys, just a little post to say what is to come in the next update, that should be released sometime next week.
+ New Music, made especially for the gameThough these only seem to be a few updates a lot of work has into them. Big thanks to our resident Nepsotic for providing me with some of his own music loops. Within this update I wanted to fix the way in which the game plays, as it is sometimes confusing which triggers do what: Sometimes you would need to have a pressure plate held down by a barrel, other times you'd merely need to walk over it. I am recoding all of the triggers as well as laying the groundwork for some new ones. Pressure plates will only work for as long as they are held down, and levers will either be on or off. |
Sound fun, im gonna give it a go.
|
Oh my god, you have an amazing signature.
So when can we expect the next beta, Josh? |
