I loved it as well, minus the true ending...Way to ruin X's beautiful ending...

Wings of Fire 10-21-2011 08:01 PM

The plot only made since if you did the two extra dungeons.

As a Final Fantasy game it was shit, but it was much much more fun than X and didn't take itself seriously at all.

The only real criticism I have with it is that it basically murdered Yuna's personality.

Dixanadu 10-21-2011 08:03 PM

Guns and a mini skirt.

Really, Yuna?

StrangerEastwood 10-21-2011 08:04 PM

It was nice to see her become more outgoing. She's still my second favorite female main character, next to Jade from Beyond Good and Evil.
btw, that aladdin recolor vaan can go die in the sewer with Cait Sith and Selphie. God I hate them...Oh yes Selphie, by all means, BASH ON THE CONSOLE THAT FIRES WARHEADS. THAT"LL FUCKING WORK.*insert screams of rage here*

My favorite character out of X was Rikku. She was just adorable and shit. Kimahri was also a fucking bad-ass character because of the whole mute business, more respect for him once he started talking. Wakka was good for two things; Comic relief and the occasional emo shit.

Seymour, I agree, was possibly the worst boss in the world and the final fight in X was complete horseshit with absolutely no challenge in it whatsoever. However, I loved the game as a whole and would easily rank it amongst my top 5 FF games.

Started playing IV and fuck me pink, it's hard. But fun. Console of choice? My phone. For a fiver.

StrangerEastwood 10-22-2011 06:38 AM

FFX still has the most well put together and strategically sound battle system in the series. And I loved all the characters. Rikku is the only "ditzy girl" type that I've liked, especially with how protective she is of Yuna. No Yuffie or Selphie in this one...ugh. Those two.

I actually don't really like Tidus all that much if I'm honest. I like him during the story-telling sections, but otherwise he's a bit grating.

I'm tired of Square Enix using such automatic battle systems, I don't want party members to control themselves, I want full control over all of them at all times. When I can control them I seem to be able to like the character more because they aren't controlled by the computer.

StrangerEastwood 10-22-2011 07:26 AM

I guess I dont mind because I accepted long ago that FF will never fit my expectations for an FF entry, as since it's inception FF has evolved (or devolved, as the case may be...is that a word? I'm not sure...) and changed with every entry. Hardest game series to be a fan of, ever. lol It's like a bunch of fanbases that have to live with eachother in some fucked up reality show. >_<

Take a look at this everyone: http://www.computerandvideogames.com...ery-1-2-years/

This made me so angry. It just proves what absolute dicks Square Enix are. They don't even fucking realise they're targeting a completely different segment of the market to that of COD and Assassin's Creed. Final Fantasy fans expect more detail and time to be put into the games, whereas COD fanboys get bored and whiney when they don't get anything new almost immediately. I shouldn't even be this mad, it's not like I've found any of the new Final Fantasy games enjoyable, it all went to shit after FFX in my opinion. I just can't believe how stupid they're being. Hope to God they mess this up.

To be fair, a new Final Fantasy game was being made every year or so during the 'golden' years between III and X, with only once a two year break in between VI and VII which was more due to executive concerns than anything else.

When the series started to get sketchy, the output actually dropped.

That's true, someone did post a list of all FF games and their release dates on the comments section. I think what annoys me the most is they're actually trying to follow the trend of other games, which have a totally different fanbase. With it in their objectives to complete the production of the game in a short amount of time, I'm worried quality could be sacrificed to finish it.

Wings of Fire 11-22-2011 04:01 AM

Yeah, that's a legitimate concern.

Well, the Tales of series has been discontinued and the whole Japanese games market has been in the shitter for a few years now. We'll see how it goes.

Dixanadu 11-23-2011 02:32 AM

Call of Duty model "seems to be the best way to keep our fans interested"

Are they fucking kidding?

Wings of Fire 11-23-2011 02:47 AM

Like I said, the Japanese market has been in the shitter for years. Companies have to adapt or die.

If you want to blame anyone, blame Activision for setting quantity over quality standards and the western gaming market for lapping it up and wagging their tails for more.

Sometimes I wonder why I want to even enter the gaming industry, because it infuriates me to no end.
