For you maybe... But consider the people who are NOT interested in what BBC has to offer. Why should they be forced to fund the TV station? If they wanna make it atax, then friggin make it a tax. That's what danish people have been crying about for so long.
I don't own a TV. But I have internet-access, thus I have to pay about £200 a year to DR(our state channel) even though, I never ever visit their website. It's friggin ridiculous and I feel robbed. They could make their website subscription based, but no... They have the law behind them to be able to freely steal money from people who do not want their service.
Honestly if it was just a general entertainment tax, it would have been better, because then the money we'd have to give would actually be proportional with what money we have.
I don't really have a lot of monies as it is <.<

You have to pay TV license for Internet? Here you can watch any BBC stuff on-line for free. The license only applies to live broadcasts.

The BBC is pretty ubiquitous anyway. I don't know anyone with the equipment who doesn't watch their TV or listen to their radio.

Wings of Fire 06-26-2011 08:13 AM

I have a tv which I only play video games on and a radio I only use as an alarm clock.

If you can prove that, you can get away with it. My advice would be to remove the aerials, should you come under scrutiny. Which you may not.

In my first year at uni, I had a black and white TV for some reason. I never actually used it, but if I did, the license fee would have been quite a bit less, but I imagine if I actually tried paying it, that would have drawn sufficient attention for someone to come along and check.

TV license rules for dorms are weird. You only need one license if the TV is in a communal area, but each person needs an individual license if they have one in their rooms. However, this does not apply to student houses, where the rules are normal and sane.

T-nex 06-26-2011 11:33 AM

Yes... In denmark you have to pay tv-license(well it's really called a Medialicense now I think), if you have internet that is better than 56k you have to pay for the full license, because incidently DR chose to dump their shit on the internet, and now that we have the 'possibility' to see their stuff online, we have to pay. It's so ridiculous, and I dont get how that can be legal at all. I don't have a TV, so that should be enough. Its just so.. enraging x_x

I've never paid a license in my life. I don't care that they call us 'black-watchers'. I'm not a black-watcher cos i don't watch their stuff at all <.<

STM 06-26-2011 11:37 AM

If you don't pay does it matter? Alternatively if you are worried change your IP to one that is say in UK or America, my mate did it so when he buys caesium and shit like that they can't trace his orders to the UK...or something like that I forget.

T-nex 06-26-2011 12:54 PM

It does matter, cos by their definition im sort of a criminal or whatever. But they are in fact criminals.. State-funded criminals.

STM 06-26-2011 01:11 PM

Capitalist pig dogs! Embrace the uprising and join the Bolsheviks against TV Licencing Party!

Scraby 06-26-2011 02:52 PM

This country of mine afther the communists peacefuly resigned all of those criminals that were in prisons are now on the rule, boy i have this desire to hang them all, they are just giving bigger taxes and lowering our incomes,i havent eaten in days :( who knows how will i survive this month but those big assess just sent a bill of 250 € to pay for this small apartment...

Ridg3 06-26-2011 02:54 PM

But you still pay for Broadband to play Minecraft online and post here? I think that you should focus more on food than internet if you are telling the truth.

Scraby 06-26-2011 03:34 PM

Well my dad is needing internet for his job thats why he pays for it,the damn thing is that our internet got hacked alongside his sites..... this country doesnt care for people no more, when they need to give you money it takes weeks, when they want money the bill will get there imedeatly.

moxco 06-26-2011 06:11 PM

I really cannot be fucked explaining anything rationally to you, Scraby. Though I suggest you read this (see I even gave you the Croatian version, aren't I nice?).

Wings of Fire 06-26-2011 06:26 PM

You're brimming with arrogance certainly.

STM 06-27-2011 03:12 AM

No one is worried about his comments? Personally that's a little alarming, I hope you stay well Scraby!

Also @ BM - Don't you be buying caesium as well, God knows what you'd be doing with it.

Scraby 06-27-2011 04:00 AM

well yeah you are nice.I know what capitalism is but in this country it doesnt work, workers and farmers are being looked at like some idiots or wild men,in communism they were respected cuz they brought food, but today even our minister doesnt care the only thing he cares about is to eat(he is fat like a baloon).http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titoism Many workers and farmers protested for entering Europe Union, some are even preparing the 2nd armed assault....

thx STM.

STM 06-27-2011 04:16 AM

Scraby, can't your people elect a new regeme? Or revolt, it seems that you have the options to change do you not?

Count Chesterfield 06-27-2011 08:00 AM

Personally I feel like I'm a collectivist anarchist.
Also I'd like a monarchy (as long as I'm the king :P)

Can you please explain this? Personally I find Anarchy to be a fairytale.

STM 06-27-2011 08:51 AM

You know anarchy is impossible beyond theory. Within a few months the World would have gone to shit, even more than it has now...or a group would rise up and take control as oppurtunists.

Crashpunk 06-27-2011 08:58 AM

People need a leader as we are lost without one. That is why anarchy really is impossible and even if it did happen like STM said, It wouldn't last.

Wings of Fire 06-27-2011 10:14 AM

Nice to know the quality of arguments against anarchy haven't changed that much since Hobbes's time.

STM 06-27-2011 10:56 AM

Well, why should there be an anarchy then Joe the Liberal know it all.

T-nex 06-27-2011 11:02 AM

Nice to know one can state a simple opinion and not having to cite a whole chapter of theory and whatnot.

I find anarchy to be a fairytale. Simple as that. I would love there to be anarchy, but humans are unpredictable, and that means that anarchy would be unpredictable. I doubt it'd work. but nice if it did.

Well the people want a new regeme but the government wont resign, they even threaten that people will go to jail.... our resistance leaders were captured and are in prison... and the police is a catastrophy, they attack people that did almost nothing, they use firearms at them and when a burglar robs a bank they are "not allowed" to fire upon them, and they let them go.

Wings of Fire 06-27-2011 11:08 AM

Oh I'm not for anarchy, but there's no substance at all in saying 'Anarchy won't work because we need leaders.' It's a totally circular argument, there's nothing there to suggest anyone who is a fan of anarchy should change their mind.

Also, the anarchist doesn't sit towards the left wing of the political scale. The anarchist sits outside the political scale and pisses on it.

STM 06-27-2011 11:36 AM

I know, that's why it's all bullshla.

Not outside on a two-dimensional political chart.

Woah, a Rhombus.

moxco 06-28-2011 08:50 PM

I just realised that that graph was from a terrible "new-world-order", "9/11 was an inside job" website, though it still makes sense. Here is a similar (and simpler) thing.
