This is great news! You know what else was great news? Citizen Siege......think about that. Then immediately forget it. Then when it doesn't happen I can pull you back to this post and say "I told you so!". But if it does happen then you'll still have forgotten about this post and i'll be happy it did happen and happy that nobody tells me and wrong.

It's the perfect plan :D

Wil 07-17-2010 08:26 AM

AbeMudokon said it was a new oddworld.com coming soon.

The difference between this and the Citizen Siege announcement is that back then they were looking for funding to start work. With this they're already working.

alexs1835 07-17-2010 09:05 AM

Are they going to be putting anything on the Xbox 360? Because thats the only -new- console I own...

It seems likely, based on the announcement. We don't know anything for sure, though.

ODDWORLDisTHEbest! 07-17-2010 09:27 AM

new? you mean next gen, like ps3 and wii, not ps1, 2 and xbox?

Alf Shall Rise 07-17-2010 09:34 AM

Yes. This generation's consoles.

ODDWORLDisTHEbest! 07-17-2010 09:35 AM

i dont blame you, xbox shit onps3 bigtime!

OANST 07-17-2010 09:46 AM

What is it that you are trying to say?

MeechMunchie 07-17-2010 10:32 AM

He said: I don't blame you, xBox shits on PS3 big time!

Not sure how that's relevant, though. What consoles do in private is their own business.

Bart 07-17-2010 10:39 AM

Interesting news, used to be a fan a couple years back. I'm new btw

Oh, yes you are. Initially I had thought you joined in June 2010 last year, and your 1 post was spread out over that time.

You're stupid. We're going to laugh at you.

MeechMunchie 07-17-2010 11:32 AM

I was afraid of that. I think I lost my comedy gibs a few months ago. Now I'm just irritable.

Xavier 07-17-2010 11:52 AM

I urge you guys to go read the forum wide announcement that has been done a couple of days ago...

I get the feeling that those new planned games with our beloved heroes will be arcade titles. (xbox live arcade style stuff)

My gut feeling is that their first choice for digital download service would be Steam. Back in 2007 when I met Lorne, he was extremely positive about Steam, Valve and the way that they treat developers.

Why does this give me an image of Lorne and Gabe or Abe and Gordon Freeman High-Fiveing :D

Nate 07-18-2010 04:28 AM

Possibly because of this?

GlukkonGluk 07-18-2010 11:14 AM

Heh. Good stuff.

Disgruntled Intern 07-18-2010 12:27 PM

This news is pretty good stuff. Provided it's available on XBLA I'll be all over it. I'm glad they're keeping Abe 2d..ish. 3d abe just doesn't work.

As for people bitching about these games being 'too small' as market place downloads, shut up. Modern downloads have the potential to be fucking huge, and when you look back at AO & AE they really weren't that big or long. They were time consuming if you were trying to save every last mudokon, plus you died a lot. But if you just ran right through, they were relatively short.

Crashpunk 07-18-2010 02:30 PM

I've never seen that before but somthing like that yeah :p

By some strange coincidence I had an urge to watch some Oddworld game play videos on youtube today, and thought I would drop in on this place... And I find this.
Looks like Oddworld is right on time.
How exciting! it's almost hard to believe after all of the unfortunately postponed/unfinished projects that we were promised/told about for so long. But it seems to me like this time they have the backbone and support to pull something off. What a relief.. it feels good to have something to look forward to again.

As far as the 2d or 2.5d goes- sounds great! I just hope it is available for Xbox 360, that way hopefully this or these project(s) will base them with enough funding to create the next big project. Plus, whatever it is coming out next, it will give us fans something to pick and prod at for a while.

Wow!!! This is great news. For me, what this really means is that Oddworld is not dead. They will continue to create the fantastic products that we've all seen before, even if it takes some baby steps first in order for them to get back on their feet, get substantial funding, and get re-recognized.

but all the same, I'm still pleased as punch. :D

*PUNCH*

Way to go, OWI! It's finally time to use this: :hobo:

There was four Oddworld games so far, but on the booklet from the first game they said there would be five games..I dont really have the booklet with me at the moment but isn't each game supposed to be based on a new main character?and if the second odd-world game counts does that mean the next upcoming game will be the last one?

would be cool if the new game would be in 2d like the old ones but it doesn't seem likely a game like that would be released on ps3 or xbox360 unless they release it on psp or something like that.

I suggest you check out the Oddworld Encyclopaedia FAQs. They're most enlightening.

Stewart Gilray says that the first release, hopefully to be announced and maybe even released before the end of July, is not part of anything that can be called ‘big stuff’. He also confirms no announcements will be made at GamesCon.

On the other hand, he talks about how JAW met OWI and reassures fans the series will stay true to itself by a combination of Lorne signing off on everything and himself being a huge fan of Oddworld.

ODDWORLDisTHEbest! 07-19-2010 04:12 AM

godd i hope lorne gets back into this stuff soon, sure i'm excited but it just wont be oddworld without him.

Friendly Slig 07-19-2010 04:14 AM

This is great news, thanks for sharing.

Lorne still owns the IP and signs off on everything JAW does.

Great news, even if the first release isn't part of the 'big stuff', it's still going to be exciting I think.

And I'm glad Oddworld won't be changing either.

ODDWORLDisTHEbest! 07-19-2010 05:36 AM

yes i'm so glad, they've come to thier senses and gone back to 2d, the original 2d with abe, well its 2.5d but whatever.
