Finally got around to Mass Effect. I spent about the first half hour of game time double-taking every time I had a conversation since everyone's face is hypnotizing due to the fact they look fucking real. Awesome so far otherwise. I think this is the first time I haven't been bored doing early sidequests. Because of the faces that look into my soul.

Awesome game. Very fun.

I'm starting to have second thoughts because of the times I have to use the Mako.

Then I get into actual combat, or see those faces, and I forget what had made me want to stop playing.

Am I the only one that liked the Mako on that level where you can loose Wrex from your squad? I agree the snow level was a pain in the ass.

Disgruntled Intern 02-28-2009 10:40 PM

Fuck that, Wrex and the Nomadic thing ftw.

Hobo 03-01-2009 06:04 AM

Mako was wank.

Wrex was ace. I am going to be trying to finish the game with only a squad of soldiers soon. Gonna fuck shit up.

mitsur 03-01-2009 09:50 AM

I would advise you guys to try out Lisara. She may not be the best when it comes to actually shooting, but damn her biotics have saved my ass or made a fight easier more times than I can count. Lift is a personal favorite.

But currently my basic team is Ashley and Lisara. I can pick up the slack with my tech stuff, since I'm an Infiltrator.

Oh, and can I say I loved Noveria? I finally picked up some decent gear after running around in the same things I had picked up on Eden Prime. And this was after getting to around level 25 from my obsesive urge to complete almost all the avaliable sidequests at the time, as well as methodically going through star clusters for surveys or other things.

I just completed Katamari Damacy by creating a moon about 830 metres big in 25 minutes. This unlocked the eternal mode, eliminating my time limit, which allowed me to have fun collecting absolutely everything in the world. Somehow I ended up smaller than before.

Tom has many more games and consoles than me, including some titles I’ve wanted to play for some time. I may get going on Beyond Good & Evil next.

How are you even supposed to hit it? You should at least make a rule that if it requires range you should at least be able to use wakka.

Oh, and I don't see you surviving against that big sinspawn at the mushroom rock beach.

Video made by me to prove it's possible. Also I'm at the Crawler now.

Next real challenge: Anima.

Chubfish 03-01-2009 01:49 PM

Actually Anima and Seymour aren't that tough. Evrae or Sanctuary Keeper (nooooooooooo) are bitches. Curaga for 9999 life? Almost impossible to do that much damage back to him.

Been playing Psychonauts again, is it just me, or are the Theatre and Napoleon levels just...bad?

I mean, compared to the Milkman Conspiracy, they just seem less enjoyable.

Havoc 03-01-2009 03:58 PM

Playing through Half Life 2: Episode 2 with commentary.

The problem is that each level has a very different style, so everyone will enjoy differnent ones. Gloria's Theatre is a very strongly platformy level with elements of anal-retentive-adventury-cutscening, what with finding all the scripts and seeing what they do on every single set.

I really liked Waterloo World; particularly the open level layout and the way I just had to explore to find what I needed.

You haven't played BG&E yet? Also, what happened to your pretty custom title colors?

No. By the time I had an Xbox I’d already stopped following the gaming press, so I had to rely on having games recommended to me. I hadn’t heard of Beyond Good & Evil until my Xbox had already died.

Enjoying it lots, except for the lack of any ability to save, which means I’ll be repeating everything all over at a later date.

As for my custom title, I can only imagine that Peter really is boring and decided to get rid of my illegally-coloured CT. Or at least, just the colours. Evidently he still wants people to know that he’s boring.

Daxter King 03-01-2009 05:33 PM

Played some Gears 2 last night, was pretty fun. Im still better than alot of the people that I get matched with though, and I ran into a lagtastic game that pissed me off.

Wrex.

Played Viva Pinata again. I FINALLY got that stupid-ass Hippo. Though, after I got it, that dumb thing proceeded to stomp all over my other Pinatas and make them sad. I tried to fence it in, and it just crashed clean through. Almost as annoying as that freakin' elephant!

Gloria's Theatre is not one of my favorites, but I love, love, love Waterloo World.

I finished Waterloo World today, I liked it a lot more once I realized there was a collection marker for those damn snails.

I'm at the second part of the big top. I don;t have any trouble until those floating grates. Fucking hate them.

I didn't mind Glorias theatre apart from the boss fight. Jasper got on my nerves really quickly for some reason.

Nate 03-02-2009 06:58 PM

This might help you with meat circus:
:

What’s up with Meat Circus?

What’s up with Meat Circus is that you’re a sissy. Sure, sure, invisibility is very important when Raz’s dad is trying to knock you off those tight ropes. And your shield will bounce the knife thrower’s blades right into those spinning target wheels. And also you can throw a confusion grenade at that bunny and then just go pick it up, instead of trying to grab it with Telekinesis. Those things are also true. But the main point I’m trying to make here is that first one, about you being a sissy.

Wil 03-03-2009 06:50 AM

Gloria’s Theatre: arsing about with the scripts and megaphone is a real ball ache, especially with those spinning dicks and fire breathing mutts. The platforming segment is short and not very interesting as far as I’m concerned. The boss fight at the end became my favourite part once I stopped finding it outrageously hard. Once you’re used to the motions it’s rather fun, and not as annoying as trying to psyroll about Waterloo World with its cracks across the land. Having markmanship chaining upgrades helps loads.

Personal Inquiry.

Oh yeah, Mass Effect continues to amaze. I am getting weird about scanning solar systems ever since I realized there's hidden shit in the asteroid belts.

Daxter King 03-03-2009 09:21 PM

Halo Wars, did a few missions and some skirmishes. Damn, I knew I wasn't good at RTSs, but I never knew I sucked this bad.

Havoc 03-04-2009 06:51 AM

Started playing GoW2 with a friend. We decided to just go hardcore from the start and now we're stuck at the level with the vehicles being attacked. Damn that's a hard part or I just haven't got the trick down yet.

Hobo 03-04-2009 07:58 AM

There's a trick. Hardcore isn't as hard as it'd seem, and nowhere near as bad as Gears 1.

Insane isn't proving too much of a struggle for me and my co-op companion, that is, other than tearing our selves away from street fighter.

Chubfish 03-04-2009 12:22 PM

Seymour battle with Tidus only, just for WoF (but it also shows what i'm playing).

Disgruntled Intern 03-05-2009 04:25 PM

Fable II.

I named my dog Cujo. He's bad.

Nate 03-05-2009 04:29 PM

Wait. Kath and Kim reference?!

Australian or Crappy American version?
