Hobo 09-11-2007 04:19 PM

I never once brought up my persona, you're the one bringing it up.

Mutual Friend 09-11-2007 04:21 PM

I know you didn't, I never said you did.

I was just saying that my 'ridiculous statement' statement was in reference to your character, not your previous dealings with modship.

Aye carumba.

Maybe the one-upmanship can stop now. Doubt it.

Hobo 09-11-2007 04:24 PM

Then next time, snip the quote, so it is clear what you're refering to, if it's not the general point of the post. That is all

Alcar 09-11-2007 04:24 PM

Just for general, "for your information":

I'd happily reappoint Hobo to the staff team in an instant if the right opportunity presented itself.

Alcar...

Patrick Vykkers 09-11-2007 04:58 PM

Why? Why in the name of G-d and all things holy? Why don't we make Stingbee an admin? Why not make give me the title of "Believes Islam is a Religion of Peace"? Why don't we make that comic of an outlaw doing filthy things to Stranger be given an award?

Alcar 09-11-2007 05:09 PM

Why not?

I trust him, he's been both a Mod and SMod, and quite frankly I like the way he works.

As a side note, we've offered Jacob Off-Topic Mod one or two times now :p

Alcar...

Majic 09-11-2007 07:47 PM

It requires a special finesse to moderate Off-Topic. You have to be able to throw in a witty textual insult as the last post of a dumb topic before you close it. Hobo was perfect for the job.

Alcar...

My G-d.. you actually did it. In actuality, I'd prefer the title of "Resident Islamophobe".

OT: But Hobo himself creates the sort of threads that would get deleted in the first place.

Majic 09-11-2007 08:46 PM

No, Hobo's topics are a religion of peace.

Patrick Vykkers 09-11-2007 09:49 PM

If you ask me, Hobo's topics being a religion of peace are still more likely than Islam being one.

OT: Is Hobo for real?

OT: Is Hobo for real?

Are you like stuck as a 1990s American teenager?

alf's brother's mate 09-12-2007 10:10 AM

how do you get a title anyway? do mods appoint you one?
I want "the creep from wonderland". i would be very gracious, of course. Nice title PV, suits the avatar aswell. on the third post of this, or second post on this thread, Hobo declared it faliure and that it should be closed. 4 pages... it hasn't actually done bad!

Mac Sirloin 09-12-2007 11:46 AM

Hey, hey, people, this is my doing, if you want to trade insults, do so with me.

I didn't mean anything, I just was voicing my opinion, sorry.

Halfway there. You forgot the King Bastard: Havoc.

Aw how cute. I love you too you cute little boy who has yet to grow up .

alf's brother's mate 09-12-2007 11:57 AM

hehehe, Havoc, are you able to appoint me my title?

Don’t try to be patronising by using the most childish insult available in the adult insult arsenal: calling someone a child. Dipstick.

hehehe, Havoc, are you able to appoint me my title?

Laugh at about 5 more of his inane and idiotic gags, then maybe the two of you can talk business.

You have done nothing to earn one or distinguish yourself in my opinion, the moderators may differ, but to me you are a generic member.

Mac Sirloin 09-12-2007 01:10 PM

Is I an generic member?

*Bambi Eyes*

Hobo 09-12-2007 02:04 PM

You are an interesting part of this forum, yes.

Mutual Friend 09-12-2007 02:10 PM

This thread obviously needs to be split into a separate one where Hobo offers pithy one sentence reviews on the merits of the OWF members.

And a score out of ten.

EDIT: Actually, I DEMAND this.

I suggested that ratings from me replaced post counts in another thread.

We're onto something...

Splat 09-12-2007 04:36 PM

I'll say this about hobo; he acts like an idiot and he'll insult anyone who goes the smallest way to deserving it, but he wouldn't abuse any powers he had as a mod, except possibly for silly jokes. He wouldn't use mod powers to bully a member. I'd trust him as a mod more than I would most other members cus I know at the end of the day he'll use them fairly. He might still be an insulting idiot, but he wouldn't use his powers to do it.
Hobo still has access to Employee Lounge even though he isn't a mod anymore, and he does make valuable contributions to discussions.

Oh and Nate, corrupt mods doesn't necessarily mean you.

Patrick Vykkers 09-12-2007 04:47 PM

Indeed. I wasn't accusing Nate of being corrupt. If anything, it was more an accusation of pseudo-nepotism towards His Majesty Alcar.

Alcar 09-12-2007 05:30 PM

Contrary to popular belief I choose those best suited for the specific job, whether or not they are on good terms with me.

A (fairly) recent example is that of Havoc. I originally thought him to be quite the prick and disliked him thoroughly - He would loudly voice his displeasure of me many times (it should be noted that I no longer harbour such animosity towards him - I think he's a pretty cool guy, tigers and all :p). But I still appointed him a Moderator. The same could be said for T-nex who was also critical of my decisions, was throughout her entire tenure as RPG Moderator, and still has been on MSN conversations post-OWF :p Still, I thought she was a great person.

At the moment, the same could be said for Max, Havoc (still!), and Splat who are still fairly critical of my ideas and decisions. It makes for a good decision making process when you are forced to look at other peoples ideas.

So all in all, the Mod-team are not the brown-nosing suck-ups you think they are.

Oh, and I was going to mention more on the Hobo-Moderator line of thought, but Splat summed it up perfectly.

Alcar...

Mutual Friend 09-12-2007 06:07 PM

It seems this entire thread has been about people talking about what they want to talk about, rather than an actual response to what others are saying.

For instance, only Pat has said that Hobo would make for a terrible moderator. Oh, an opinion that was only expressed, by the way, because Kastere randomly brought up the idea of Hobo being a mod for some reason. And so we get a billion replies to the contrary as if we got a stink that needs shifting here.

Then, Pat again, says (ridiculously) that the moderators worship Alcar. So we get Alcar giving out an essay on the matter, poor lad, contrary to an opinion-nobody-of-importance-ever-held-or-thought-about-anyways.

Then you got Hobo talking smack about me saying something I wasn’t cos I was too lazy and stylish to quote.

Of course, there’s also me just shoehorning in a piece of Havoc Hate, that miserable fuckwit (:)), without so much as asking how your day went.

Jesus. We’re all fucking idiots nattering away about nothing in particular!

Mac Sirloin 09-12-2007 06:14 PM

Hey, I could see good reason to make everyone Mods, excluding myself, mind you.

I would name some people (Yes, including Patrick Vykkers and Mutual Friend) who I believe would make fine editions to the already awesome mod team that OWF has.
But I don't want to force another of what MF desribed into existence, so I'll shaddup.

Patrick Vykkers 09-12-2007 07:03 PM

The "His Majesty" was a joke, actually. It was a title of reverence towards the boss of this forum, not a suggestion the mods actually like Alcar. Hell, Hobo insults him personally by first name terms all the time.

Thank you Kastere, but I think I would probably be a bit too strict and humourless to be a mod.

Mac Sirloin 09-13-2007 04:05 AM

None the less.
Everyone could be a fine mod in their own respect.

alf's brother's mate 09-13-2007 08:14 AM

Nice title PV.
But that really does sum up the unfortunate inconsistency of some mods.

Hobo 09-13-2007 09:20 AM

I assure you PV, the mod team get on very well with each other, EL seems to be the only place rational argument is accepted.
