Oftentimes the Clakkers in New Yolk Port refuse to reply to the Stranger, which is quite annoying. They say some amusing things.

I've been replaying AO after a few years absence and I've come up with one glitch and another that I'm not sure about.
In paramonia, the time elum eats honey and you have to throw a stone at the beehive to knock it down on him; I had gone much further on and then backtracked. I entered the screen whilst riding elum; he took control and walked over to the honey and just stood there, whilst Abe started bouncing around half on elum and half in mid-air. I couldn't do anything and I had to quit. I'll see if I can recreate it to get a screenshot. Also in paramonia; the windmill in the background was not moving in the first few screens but later on (after the second beehive) it was. Is that just me or is everyone like that? I thought at first it was a bug in XP because the backgrounds in the Stockyards Escape (ie the twinkling stars) weren't animating either. |
Anyone been playing AE recently and ended up walking on thin air?
|
While I was playing MO I possessed a crane (I can't remember where) and picked up Munch because the crane went through the cage as if it weren't there
|
These are a couple screenshots of glitches I found.
Note: the larger ones might take a while to load. http://i2.tinypic.com/1zr2a8g.jpg Abe standing on thin air. I don't remember how it happened. http://i2.tinypic.com/1zzggoh.jpg Also Abe standing on thin air. http://i2.tinypic.com/1zzgikg.jpg I don't remember how this happened, either, but if you look closely, you can see that Abe is sitting on Elum backwards. http://i2.tinypic.com/1zzgj7b.jpg This may just be a videocard flip. http://i2.tinypic.com/1zzgp5h.jpg Here, this glitch was fairly easy to achieve. I went on the screen with the bomb and stayed until it flew towards Abe. Then I quickly turned him around. The bomb blew up, and when Abe and Elum came back at the last checkpoint and they went forth one screen, the elevator was missing. This was an enormous source of amusement on my part, so I was able to make it onto the top ledge in the bottom screen with Elum. http://i6.tinypic.com/1zv49e8.jpg http://i2.tinypic.com/1zv4a6r.jpg I came into the screen and the Scrab was missing. I don't remember if there was anything peculiar about my entrance, but this has happened before in another place. Here, I accidentally went too far into the wall on the top screen, and I fell for some reason. Abe disappeared. Then I waited to see if he would reappear again, and then the Scrab disappeared. http://i1.tinypic.com/1zv4dg8.jpg And here, this happens everytime, well, almost everytime, but not like this. It's only when I roll forward into the tube and stop and the edge of the screen, the Scrab goes into the tube and kills Abe. This time, however, it was there to begin with. http://i6.tinypic.com/1zv4g1c.jpg This one, I remember clearly. I had been playing AO for so long now that I often become bored and do things in the untraditional way. So, instead of going through the ordeal with the bomb first, I ran into the screen with the Slogs, jumped over one of them while the other confusedly turned on the spot, ran into the screen to the right, jumped into the well on the screen before the bird portal to ST, and, while the Slogs attempted to bite the thin air, I came back and ran to the left until I reached the other well, hurriedly jumping into it. I blew up the bomb in the usual fashion, and then the Slogs appeared out of nowhere and killed Abe. http://i2.tinypic.com/1zzgftd.jpg Har har. I changed them to JPG. |
Hmmm... anyone heard of this glitch? In Soulstorm Brewery, the bit where you control the Slig and have to make him go a long way to shut off an elecrical wall, there is this certain wall that if you keep shooting (facing with your back to the wall) you step back into it and dissapear!
|
skillya_glowi; please do us all a favour and only post images in .jpg format in the future. BMPs take waaaaay too long to download.
|
I have had problems with slogs at the end of scrabania before. What's with those hint flies? I don't remember those being there. I assume you have the PC copy?
|
I'll assume you're addressing me...
If you mean the last screenshot, those aren't hint flies. They're the balls of light that turn into birds when Abe dies. And, yes, I have the PC version. |
It glitched on SW when at the opple mine the clackers started shooting me, I ran off and it kept tsking health off like I was being shot!
|
I've had these strange glitches that made me unable to play AE recently.
The first one was in the second secret of the Scrab native temple, with Fleeches and two Mudokons. The four saws worked perfectly at first, but when I forgot the Mudokons on the top screen, I went up there to retrieve them, but when I came down, the saws worked as one. They went up and down at the same time. I died and had to do it all over again. Another time was much different. I was in the first door of the same native temple. And when I tried possessing the Scrab, he had me stuck and I couldn't do anything. So I depossessed him and he killed me after I depossessed him. When I returned, I immedently started chanting. I couldn't stop. So I tried to restarting the path, but the same thing happened. And then, when I tried reloading the save point, the same thing happened. I had to restart the game in order to stop. Another thing happened in AO, when I was in Scrabania temple. After I once went through the doors, I tried to get off the first screen, but a Scrab killed me. But when the screen blacked out and returned, Abe didn't return. Weird things happen when I die. |
:
 Anywhere else and that would be such a bizzare statement. |
      i was playing Abe's oddysee and Abe started farting out the wrong way
|
I was playing MO and that happend.
|
are you realy sure that's possible guys?
can you how us screens or movies? |
At Paramiona the first area with the bees I threw a rock to stop elm from eating the honey.the hive fell and started to attack abe. when abe went down the elevator with the bees on abe it reached the bottom in 2 seconds.
|
Well, I know about throwing the rock at the hive idea, but I didn't get
any such effect as a fast-moving elevator. If the bees attack Abe, walk to Elum to get them to attack him instead of running berserk. |
I've experianced a few glitches with both AO and AE, but mainly clipping glitches where Abe or other things accidently go through walls or fall through the floor.
In Abe's Exodduss I always loved to make sligs, scrabs and farts, etc glow green, by quicksaving as I was possesing them. :P But that's already been mentioned here. Something that hasn't been mentioned here though: In AE (again), go to Bonewerkz. In Annex 7, you can get the Shrykul and also can walk into some electrical barriers. :P What do you get if you walk into an Electrical Barrier while being a Shrykul? :D Well, firstly, you glow. Secondly, you become invincible, similar to the invincibility cheat on the PSX version, but it's very, very glitchy. If you fall down even a tiny way, unless you do a standing jump, you die. If you do a standing jump off a ledge, you jump and fly for miles. :P If you get blown up by a bomb, you turn invisible, but you're still alive. If you chant while invisible, you become visible again, except you're black. Because you die simply by falling a short way (there's a part further on where you have to climb down a ledge and drop a small way), you can't get very far with this glitch. Oh yeah, and you lose access to the menu because the game thinks you're dead, even though you're not. Fun glitch though. :P Load up AE and try it. |
On MO in the loading docks at the end if you have Abe pick up an egg crate and then have Munch pick him up with the crane Abe will drop the egg crate and fall so while he's in the crane's grasp,he'll be laying down with his eyes closed.I have a picture somewhere.
In SW at the opple farm,I led Farmer Beek upstairs and knocked him into the fire below, and he got stuck. It was kinda funny watching him flailing his arms in the air. |
I'm not sure if it qualifies as a glitch, but it sure didn't happen in AO. But
if you jump in a wall in AE and fall a long way (a screen or two) down on your back, you don't end up dead when you hit the floor. It might have been because I was using the invincibility cheat at the time when I discovered it in the Slig Barracks levels. |
:
Dark Hood, that's an awesome set of glitches, and I'm going to start testing them right today. :p |
Yeah, in AE, when you have the invicibility cheat on you walk back and forth
quickly in front of greeters so they zap over and over, eventually you'll become partially or completely invisible. I think you can see Abe again when you start a new trail in the game, or when you restart the path. Have fun, Max, I'll pass as I'm not patient to wait for glitches to happen. |
I like doing that, so Abe is a fancy electricy blue colour fizz thing. It looks cool.
SkillyaGlowi, those rock. But I don't think the once with the Scrab in the tube is exactly a glitch. I think that they just didn't program that tube to block the Scrab, or tubes never are particularly, because they presumed you would roll straight off teh screen rather than hang about. It's position when you enter the screen probably varies, and it happened to be there *shrugs* A couple of times I was invincible, so I could use Abe and go back through the section at the end of Bonewerkz (where you get Dr. Phleg to tell the Sligs to kill the neverending supply of Slogs). If you roll into a Slog hole, though, he dissappears. Also, at the beggining of AO's Paramonian temple, Get the Slig, facing the cliff when the pulley has gone down, to tell the Slog to "git 'em". It'll run off the cliff. Then, pull the lever again to bring the pulley up so you can get down (as a Slig or whatever). The Slog will be down there, but stuck behind a wall. You can't shoot it. Try telling it to do various things and watch it writhe in agony. Well, not really, but...heh. Try jumping off of various areas as far as you can while riding Elum. He won't splat, no matter how high, so you can mess up in quite a few places by doing this. Fun though. This isn't a glitch, but a weird thing: when you possess a flying Slig, press teh left and right buttons really quickly. It's animation changes, and it appears almost drunk and looks quite weird. It's easiest to get glitches when you use invincibility, though. You can mess up ALOT of things. Oh, get this: If you hold a grenade 'till it explodes in your hand while you're invincible, you won't lose it. So, as long as you don't throw it, but just hold it 'till it blows up, you can have an infinite supply of grenades in that area. |
:
together to show where a person or creature is when it's semi-invisible. :
:
you. I can try that. Thanks. |
:
Yes, that was a typo. :p |
If you use invincibility with Abe in AE, you won't be killed by anything except falling too high (unless you land on your back). You can run to the left instead of right after going through the door, and go back up the pulley and through the meat grinders into an area normally not accessible to Abe. That's what I meant.
|
:
(And incidently I regret chosing it - What was I thinking back in 1999? Jeeze. Still, too late to change it now. . .) Back on topic, with my Shrykul vs Electric Barrier glitch, like the invicibility cheat, if you jump into a wall and land on your back, Abe will make a *splat* sound, but he won't actaully die. :P It's weird. Something I forgot to mention. :

While playing Abe's Oddysee in the board room i rescued the last mud got the shruykull power ring.then i pulled the ring to enter the board room and quickly pulled the lever then i used the power ring and killed the glunks and and bolth groups of sligs.Even though there was no sligs the movie "What A Drag" took place. Also i did the same thing but didnt use the power ring so the first 2 sligs killed abe but the second 2 came and the movie still went on

I spy a glitch in the Oddworld Forums. It seems if you leave a tag open in your signature, the “Last edited by&hellip” message is fiddled with. :p |
On Strangers Wrath. Theoretically, I was dead, but I was sitll able to walk aroudn and stuff. I just couldn't jump :(
