Right. I dunno if this is the right place to put this...but...we all know that there are only Scrabs in the Stockyards, but when I was listening to Killy's recording, I could have sworn I heard a Paramite, like when they are supposed to gamespeak "Howdy". Is it just me or is it really there?
|
in some previous versions of AO I think some Paramites were there
but they were removed for some reason there could be some others in cages we don't see :p |
I don't get why they took the Paramites out. They could have at least put them down as scenery or something.
|
to create a surprise later in the game I guess
and not show all the creatures already in the second level |
Probably memory reasons. You can have one, or the other, but not both. Can you honestly say now that you can imagine the stockyards with anything else?

Yes, that is how it goes. I have the book, and that's exactly what they all stand for.
Like you said, Abe's the Soul off Oddworld because he started everything. Munch is the heart because he is everything Oddworld stands for, and Stranger is the bones because "sometimes a bone has to be re-broken before it can be healed." Also, he held oddworld together and kept it going. |
that question was asked and answered 3 pages ago :p
|
Hehe. Oops, sorry Xavier.
|
What part of Oddworld are Sligs native to, do we know?
|
I had just thought of this and would like to know if anyone has ever made a map of oddworld. Like a world atlas. Or a simple concept sketch, even if it is just a fan made thing.
|
Buddy has made an Oddworld map. But it had some imperfections, and was corrected by our very own Max.:p
|
alright thanks man
|
credits goes also to Max for the first one he helped buddy correct his map

Another reason could be that Skillya solely produces mutant offspring, be it a result of habitat, smoking, or her personal bioligy. Sligs DID once have legs. I look at some close up drawings in the Art of Oddworld (pg.66 top left corner for those who have it), and the "tail" is actually vestigial legs, possibly similar to Glukkons, except the laegs are (in evolutionary terms) closer to being gone, or a tail for other purposes perhaps. I can see notable joints, between 'feet' and the knees. They are there. So it may be a result of underuse, possibly based on climate change (if they lived in swamps perhaps, the vines may have been very low growing and branches, forcing them into a constant crawl). They could suck up food with their tentacles, which may have had other uses. I'm just guessing, but I doubt you'll get much of an improvement apon that. |
Yes, indeed. Credit isn’t, perhaps, the best term. Despite the attention I got from it, I do feel ashamed to have bugged OWI so fanboyishly.

Wait- I think there's a story behind these maps. Let's here it.
Or I can rephrase it into a question for the QaA. "What's the story behind these maps?" |
:
I'm a bit tired |
Ah, what a super story it is. I’ll go from the beginning to the end. It all started in June 2006 when fans received their first email from the Oddworld Fan Club, which contained a username and password to access Alf’s Comoddities & Tea. The contents included a teabag wrapper to print out and fold:
Atushi’s Tea And the now famous and beloved Oddworld Map: ![]() The Oddworld Map It was actually Anna (One, Two, Middlesboogie) who first started pointing out inconsistencies, or rather a single inconsistency, which was the distance between RuptureFarms and Necrum in relation to the knowledge that Oddworld is 10 times the size of the Earth. Alf rebutted, and added “Our mudokon fact checker, Buddy is on vacation. Geez, better talk to him about the map when he gets back!” which was really the beginning of the end for poor Buddy. Alf soon admitted it would be “the last time I have Buddy ask a Slig for help” and said a new version of the map would be made. Kesiah added another observed error, relating to the path taken by Abe and Munch in Munch’s Oddysee and its representation on the map. You can read all of this in the original thread, which was started by Xavier. The second update to Alf’s Comoddities & Tea included a second map, marginally updated: ![]() Oddworld Map 2 At Nate’s request, I provided a list of all the apparent discrepencies with the Map, and after some persuasion from Xavier, I emailed the list to Alf. And that, good people, is how I became Fan of the Month in February 2003. I have provided a link to that page (which, strangely, was the only way to access the third version of the Oddworld Map (below)), even though the picture of me on there is so aweful. So awefully aweful I want to kill it. ![]() Oddworld Map 3 It’s also the origin of Buddy’s story, which kept us going for a few more editions of The Daily Deception Online. |
That's quite a tale. I wish I'd been there.
Unfortunately I was busy waging a personal war against broadband for stopping mere meters from my home. So many needless deaths... :nonono: |
Ooh, early nate. How innocent I was...

something has been kinda bugging me about the octigi 0.2 sketch in the ocigi family concept art.
His suit kinda looks like the shape of a glukkon's but bigger, but to me it also looks he has humanish arms he's holding behind his back. I can't tell which, could someone tell me? |
Have you played Stranger's Wrath yet? If not, and you plan on doing so in the future, I would suggest not knowing the answer:p
If you don't plan on playing it, or you don't mind knowing, PM me, and I'll tell you, unless someone else answers. |
oh wait....sorry nevermind. I had a retard moment
|
lol. Well i've been a bit curious how sekto survived, when the dam destroyed.
I was just wondering since he was basically dead when stranger held him above his head and roared. |
