How do I get an avatar? can someone help?

Slaveless 03-06-2006 05:01 PM

I know you're new, but please don't double post. Anyway, you go to Quick Links and then press Edit Avatar. And I do belive this should be in the Fourm Suggestion Help fourm. Just a heads up. ;)

Edit: About the mudokon-in-the-intern thing, how come it's there? Why do interns carry it around with them?

skillya_glowi 03-12-2006 10:14 AM

Yeah, I was just wondering

....And I think this is in the wrong forum, but I don't know where to stick it , so I'll just put it here, hoping that one of the moderators will move it to the right location.

I was just wondering....How do you really spell Molluck the Glukkon's name? Because Molluck was in the booklet that I got with my first game, that's what I called him ever since, but I have also seen it spelled Mollock and Mullock, and even Molock.....

Wil 03-12-2006 10:33 AM

It's Molluck, as seen in the Abe's Oddysee manual and on the official site. On concept art, off-kilter spellings may be used because the final spellings isn't finalised or because perfect spelling isn't actually required by the production designers. Graffiti in the game, I think, is spelled wrong intentionally.

EDIT: This probably belongs in the Q&A thread. :)

Are there any audio or video clips of the Grubbs talking anywhere on the net? Paco the Taco and I are working on a Flash project, and I just got another voice guy to help us (no way in hell can I sound like a Grubb), and he needs to hear them talk to do it. Much appriceated.

Wil 03-12-2006 11:29 AM

Yes there are! There was a fansite kit released for Stranger's Wrath. I can't find it on Oddworld.com within 60 seconds, so I'm of the opinion it would be easiest to just send the WAV files to you. Anyone else who would like them just let me know. :)

I just said yes…

Just in case anybody forgot...

The Intern isn't carrying anything around with him, if you're refering to the above concept art. The eggs are in the background because the Vykkers harvest and stock Labour Eggs. Logically, Interns are involved in that work. It's just a setting for the character.

Heh, sorry. Must have posted twice. If someone could just delete that, that'd be great.

Also, I've cleared some shit from my Inbox, so you can send things to me now.

sligco 03-13-2006 06:04 AM

how does stranger jump and stuff whith his legs tied together his leg bend 2 different ways

Cullen Heath 03-13-2006 07:07 PM

I have a question. How come nobody every answers my questions?:(
PLEASE answer this:

:

You see that curl on top of the Mudokon Egg? Now, notice how there is also a Fez type thing (You know. The bottom part that keeps the Mudokons hair up.) on the Egg. Do you think that maybe that is actually the Mudokons hair sticking out of the Egg? That this is how the Mudokon Eggs are, and that a baby Mudokons hair stays curled until it's born?

Thank you!

Also Max, I would please like the recordings of the Grubbs!

Nate 03-13-2006 11:07 PM

Perhaps no-one has an answer. I'd prefer that no-one wrote anything than if everyone responded with something irrelevant or uninteresting.

Okay, here's a questions. The geography of Mudos, it's arctic in the south, deserty in the West, and kind of a mix in the east. Am i right?

Cullen Heath 03-14-2006 08:47 PM

I think it's just more jungle-ish in the East, but yeah, I guess it would be a mix of the two. Other than that, I think you're right.

Okay, I've been wondering this ever since I first played Munch's Oddysee but never fond an answer, or a reason that would make any sense.

You guys know the Glukkon status ranks: ~Pud~ ~Chump~ ~Wanna-Be~ ~Big Cheese~ ~Glockstar~

Okay well, you know how they change when they become a higher ranked Glukkon?

Okay well, (Here's the question!) why is it that the ~Chumps~ and the ~Glockstars~ both have different noses (Well, the place where the nose should be, anyways) than the rest of the Glukkons??? These two have flatter faces between their eyes and mouths, while the rest of the Glukkons are the old style Glukkons, where that area kinda pops out, instead of just staying flat.

It doesn't make sense why they would just change like that, especially because of the difference between them. Like how one is the second in the ranking status, while the other is the last stage! Why would those two be chosen to be like this out of all of them, and why are two of them like that???

Nate 03-15-2006 12:59 AM

I'd say that it's just random - we haven't seen near enough glukks of either level to make an accurate guess.

Where are you getting the arctic south thing from?

Xavier 03-15-2006 01:27 AM

to Cullen
that's simply because OWI used Lulu as example in the chart
http://www.oddworld.com/universe/ind...sets/lulus.jpg
the face of the glukkons don't change with their status

to Used
the only thing that could help is the map:

used:), i wonder too:where have you see arctic south in Mudos? in OSW Sekto's Dam is on the north and the water in all Oddworld is flowing from pole to equator just as our water...think Oddworld>Mudos has another gravity different from Earth's?So on Mongo river map Last Legs and Sekto's Dam are on north...if south is arctic then logically these objects must be in bottom of the map instead of upper border...

Slaveless 03-15-2006 03:34 AM

Holy crap, if the Mongo River isn't near Scrabania, my fan fic is toast! It's ruins the history!

Wil 03-15-2006 11:23 AM

It doesn't necessarily ruin your fanfic. Fan-created projects will always exist outside of established canon, so I think you can take the liberty to twist a few things here and there if you really want.

And Oddworld's global biome distribution is completely up in the air. The desert-like Western Mudos, according to the map, is actually north of where Abe and Munch currently are. The map also makes it look likely that the polar regions are colder than the equatorial regions, which makes a lot of sense, but beyond that there's little we can infur.

It was somewhere in the Daily Deception, about a mudokon being found in the icey south or soemthing. I may have misunderstood though.

Slaveless 03-15-2006 12:34 PM

Here's one I don't understand. How come glukkons get more padding as they go up in the social class? Does that make them feel powerful?

Wil 03-15-2006 12:35 PM

The Mulletokon tribe comes from the deep southern region of Mudos, and being as they were a somewhat hairy population you might have read into it that they were living in a colder environment.

You are like magic!

I was just reading that article. Yes I believed it was very frigid in the south. I guessed this because it seemed like the Mulletokons' hair was frozen.

Wil 03-15-2006 12:53 PM

Evidently, yes. Physical size is always an indication of power. Tall people will always command an authority over shorter people. If there's a conflict between size and status, it creates awkwardness.

In exactly the same way as women wear shoulder pads and high heels to make them seem taller and hence have more power, Glukkons do the same as they rise up the career ladder. What's more, because larger shoulder pads are seen as commanding more authority, Glukkons who wear them actually do command more authority.

Thanks, Xav! Now, tell me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that the ~Pud~ ~Wanna-Be~ & ~Big Cheese~ in this photo are Lulu.
To me, it seemed as if Lulu always had that flat nose thing I'm talking about, but never the Normal Glukkon look.

I could be wrong, though.

ODDREN 03-15-2006 11:58 PM

Max the Mug, got link on this article?:)i wanna read it too!
