Noctero culture
-The Noctero were once great conquerers, ruthless barberians, and cunning warriors, but something in their history caused them to hang up their spears and become peaceful and non-violent. This, unfortunately, made them easy targets as replacement slaves for the sects of the Magog Cartel that had freed the Mudokons. -Noctero traditionally paint their eyelids and lips black, to symbolize the shame of their past. Most Nocteros in recent generations, however, have forgotten why they do it and just do it. Some younger Noctero paint their bottom lip red as a way to rebel against the old traditons, which they find to be stupid and unnecessary. -Being unable to fly makes the Males the best housekeepers and nest-guardsmen. The females do the hunting and gathering. -Noctero makes mate for life, so choosing a mate is especially delicate. They usually date for up to 4 years, just to make sure that they're right for each other. -Noctero males usually shave one side of their head while letting the other side grow out, as well as pulling it back (think Dracula). Female "do's" vary from very straight like Actra's, to pulled back, to a variation of the two. In recent years, some females have embraced a split-do like the males. -The Noctero speak in our English, but write things down in what look Hyroglyphics. Because of this, many Noctero cannot read the strange language that the Industrialists use (our form of writing, with letters), and have to memorize the different shapes of the words. -Noctero are naturally attracted to dark, moist places, due to the centuries they've spent inside of caves. Sunlight scares them, which is why Actra is so nervous once she is ejected from New Rupturefarms and into the outside world. Some Noctero even prefer to live in the factory than to venture outside! -The Noctero worship many gods. One of which is the Archivist, a female who's appearance depends on the conditions of her people. If times are good for the Noctero, she's the picture of beauty. But now, when times are grim, she becomes a dark and woeful entity (think Clive Barker's "Tortured Souls" toyline). Another entity is the Hunter. He is said to be the bringer of a good harvest. Hunter is portrayed as asexual, and has the broad wings distinctive of a female. But he also has the general build of a male, and is referred to as a "he." He was once the overseer of many great battles as well, but since the Noctero became a peaceful race, he didn't see the need for that part of his job. |
I think your art is great. I like all the afterworld stuff especially. :)

Nice, I really like the redo of the Actra picture. I think you've perfected the wing design now, looks realistic enough but Odd. I don't think you could draw a bad piccy even if yer tried. :D

And I've also updated what Afterworld is. I want it to be more like a halfway point (like purgitory, but nix the infinate white, and replaced that with a Barlowe-esque landscape).There are different offices for the "higher-ups" to decide which would best suit each case and person waiting there. There are departments like "Wrongful Death Cases," "Haunting permits," "The Apocalypse Planner," and "Ressurection Loans," which is where the trio needs to go. I use the term, "loan," because in exchange for being ressurected, they must give something back to them. Luckily, Actra meets with one of her gods, the Archivist, who says that her only debt is to ensure the continuation of her species and to take down New RuptureFarms. There's also a "Spirit Exorcizing" service that was recently added, and Actra gets help with her problem. |
Whoa, you've done alot of artwork and designs, you realy thought out Actra's Oddysee. The ideas and the designs you make up are pretty inspressive, I especially like the ideas you have for the Afterworld. And your drawings look better than ever.
Tapewoirm creature reminds of Searex slightly, but it looks cool. Oh and I think you keep forgeting the horns on Roid ;) |
I did give Roid spines, but the horns on his head were omitted because I want him to have a strong resemblance to Munch. Roid also had buck teeth and clawed toes in the original design, which I replaced with sharp teeth and clawless feet since, again, Munch doesn't have those. Besides, the buck teeth also look kind of comical. Roid is the embodiment of Munch's anger, rage, and frustration, and I don't want the readers to laugh when they see him.
Oddish, how good are you at mechanical design? I may need you to assist me in a few concepts. My strong point is biological creatures, and I can't draw mechanical things worth a damn. I need a guy to help me by designing New Rupturefarms, and I think I can take it from there once I can see what I'm dealing with. |
I like those character profiles, and the pictures are great too. The facial expressions are amazing! I can't find any better words for your drawings.
The Afterworld idea is interesting, it's kinda like Dante's Inferno from a different perspective. A few characters visiting an 'afterlife' area and meeting relatives... And there's something in it from ancient Greek literature, isn't there? Roid could easily join Fuzzles for dinner. :D All of this artwork could work as a game or a movie, I think. |

Well, technically, her base color is still brown, but I wanted to go for a much darker look, to fit the theme of the comic.
And Super Munch, I'm afraid of moles. Can we use the ducks this time instead? They're more vocal anyway. (If such a place as hell truly exists, I'm going there...) |
