I think my compound is safe enough, as the front gate is made up of fence gates. :>

Scraby 02-13-2012 03:13 AM

My secret fort is armed with glass doors powered by sticky pistons.

Crashpunk 02-15-2012 12:02 AM

For those who care. New SoI. Not the best episode but whatever. :)

Scraby 02-15-2012 01:19 AM

:

* Added new world file format called “Anvil” (256 max height and 4096 block IDs*).
* Multiplayer light calculations do no longer cause affected blocks to be transmitted to the clients, instead the clients will recalculate the light on their own.
* Villagers will repopulate villages based on how many houses there are available.
* Some nights in villages will be worse than others.
* Added Redstone Lamp.
* Decreased chance for the rare mob drops.
* All animals use the new AI system now.
* Lighting is disabled in creative mode allowing builders to see in caves, oceans and at night.

Well there goes a new snapshot :D also toggleable lights ftw!

T-nex 02-15-2012 01:28 AM

I don't get the whole rare monster drop deal... I don't find it even remotely useful. Those items are so easily obtained that getting them from a monster wouldn't bring me joy at all. Specially if they make em more rare x_X

Scraby 02-15-2012 01:44 AM

Mabe they should add traders to the game in villages so you can sell junk and buy useful stuff

DarkHoodness 02-15-2012 02:00 AM

Hope you're able to turn that option off for the sake of filming.

At 0:03: By the way Minecraft is programmed I'm assuming that's how they actually work at Mojang.

Crashpunk 02-20-2012 09:23 AM

Apparently The guys at Mojang always have a lot of fun, really gives a positive message about working in the gaming industry. Aren't most game companies like that anyway? Maybe it's more Indie companies but maybe i'm wrong.

Wil 02-20-2012 09:54 AM

Oh hell no. You never heard of crunch?

STM 02-20-2012 09:56 AM

Indie companies are a lot more fun to work in, if not more laborious. Mostly because at a company like Bethesda you are faceless drone thrown smack bang in the middle of all the other faceless drones and the only way you get some recognition is if you're the lead game developer or the CEO.

sheridanm962 02-21-2012 08:19 PM

Really sucks that I have to go back to 1.8.1, it's the only one that's stable for my shitty laptop (irony intended)...........

Oh wait, no one would care about anything I say or do no matter what. Feelsbadman.jpg

Golems and stairs FTW! XD

DarkHoodness 02-28-2012 03:35 PM

As an experiment, I copied the layouts of a couple of buildings from World of Warcraft in Minecraft. This also includes Exoddus fortress on the OWF server - The vid keeps swapping between WoW and Minecraft, so if you want to see where I got the inspiration for that building from, this vid shows it:

Today the four (main?) Bukkit developers were hired by Mojang to work on the modding API. I'm excited.

Also, I talked to one of them (Dinnerbone) on IRC and he revealed one of Minecraft's darkest secrets: diamond is actually emerald.

Wil 02-29-2012 12:43 AM

Just because it's called emerald in the code and used to be known as emerald by fans before Notch gave it the official name of diamond?

enchilado 02-29-2012 12:48 AM

Well, no, not just because of that. I'm sure Notch still thinks of it as emerald.

Wil 02-29-2012 02:34 AM

If he wants it to be emerald, he can make it green. And add red rubies and deep blue sapphires and all that. They can all just be variations on diamond, you just need to have three of the same type to make a pick. :hobo:

enchilado 02-29-2012 02:48 AM

YOU GO TOO FAR

Wil 02-29-2012 03:54 AM

1.2 is due to be released tomorrow! YAY!

Manco 02-29-2012 06:10 AM

I would actually love to see more gem types added to Minecraft. Gold and diamonds alone do not a treasure trove make.

Crashpunk 02-29-2012 11:04 AM

Crashpunk 03-01-2012 01:33 PM

I've played 1.2, It's pretty good like we all expect. The only problem I have is that I can't convert my old worlds to the new format, Anyone else having problems.

Oh and new Shadow of Israphel.

enchilado 03-01-2012 06:07 PM

This morning I made a map based on Skyblock. In case anyone is interested in trying it: http://w968406.open.ge.tt/1/files/8w.../blob?download

Note that it won't work on a server.

AlexFili 03-02-2012 01:52 AM

Havoc 03-05-2012 11:44 AM

So 1.2 just bricked my texturepack. Is that normal after an update and if not, how do I fix it? I'm forced to look at MC in it's original ugly form now. :(

DarkHoodness 03-05-2012 11:57 AM

They changed the terrain.png it seems - It should be easy to patch the new file with the old stuff using photoshop or something. In fact I could probably do it for you.

DarkHoodness 03-06-2012 12:08 AM

*12 hour rule*

Been trying out this adventure map, it's pretty fun.

Havoc 03-06-2012 07:51 AM

Oh I got my texturepack working. I forgot that the new 1.2 jar wasn't HD patched, lol.

Playing 1.2.3 is cool, I had a few cats and stuff.

Eventually they kept breeding and then a huge cluster-fuck of sheep kept following me, so NOW I had to kill them all with fire which is sad because I like cats :(

Splat 03-12-2012 03:27 AM

Is it just me or are there major logical failings in the above statement? :fuzconf:

1. Cats only breed when you make them breed.
2. Cats don't give birth to sheep.
3. Sheep only follow you when you're holding wheat.
4. Cats sit down when you right click on them.

I managed to make sense of this. It's like a game of "fill in the blanks".

Playing 1.2.3 is cool, I had a few cats and stuff.

Eventually, they kept breeding because my cats kept falling off of cliffs and getting hurt so I had to feed them fish to give them more health. I harvested wheat from my farm and then a huge cluster-fuck of sheep kept following me, so NOW I had to kill them all with fire which is sad because I like cats
