I've got a question: what does the symbol above the door stand for? (I circled it with paint)

Actually it does pop up in a few other Zulags, but always above a door. Also I've never seen it reversed or anything so I doubt it's to indicate it's going downwards. I think it's just an indicator that there's a door there, or possibly an icon for 'elevator'.

Now I have a question. Why, for the love of Odd, would anyone built a factory like this:

Yes but sligs and glukkons can't go there since they can't jump up on platforms. I mean, every place built by Glukkons uses a modular catwalk system which makes absolutely no sense.

(Yes, gameplay, but you people are always being such wise asses who have an answer for everything I'd like to see you figure this one out :P)

A lot of these places Glukkons wouldn’t ever want to go, so it’s of no concern to them. Flying Sligs can reach these doors just fine.

Maybe to move Sligs around the factory there is some kind of pickup/dropship, maybe on a crane. This would prevent lazy Sligs from leaving their designated posts to find more out-of-the-way spots.

I think, there is an alternate route for every place, don't forget teleporters.

By flying up to it and going through. We’re considering this question from the point of view of what’s physically possible and not what was done for programming and gameplay reasons, as per Havoc’s instructions.

Teleporters in AE required a teleporter arch for disembarkation. MO teleporters would not allow workers to leave each Zulag and also they were shit. This isn’t necessarily out of keeping with Glukkon employee care, but also presents impracticalities.

Yes but the doors are small for the propellor to pass... mabey anyway.
Teleporters would work though, each zulag arch could lead to a teleporter hub, like Havocs image.

MO's idea of teleporters was just to make a quick ending for the levels instead of being creative.

Oh, sorry I misunderstood when you said were not talking about gameplay. Well I can't think of any more ideas on how sligs get to the zulags.

Why would you make it easy for Mudokons to get about but not sligs.

You're all forgetting the very important fact that we can only see one side of this scene. On the other side there's a big path that all the sligs and glukkons use, and then walk around to the doors.

There is. You know the Mudomo Vaults' doors, those 5 doors. There's one of them that has a secret hideout, which leads you to the Brewery. In this secret hideout, you get to control a Paramite to order others to open the looks to protect the Mudokons and to let Abe past the paths which leads you to them. That's a SoulStorm Kennel in the Mudomo Vaults, although it's not sinalized. =P
